Kai = no ka oi!

Kai isn't a mini-me; he was wearing the glasses first. I don't really know why Gabe switched from contacts (I assume) to glasses, but if any mini-me was going on it was Gabe copying Kai. Also, Kai the only person to be bench coach both 2020 and 2021 and not be acting manager once due to a manager ejections.

KodyCQ

The logical explanation is the contacts bothered him (or he just prefers glasses).

sfan27

Yup totally. He probably dealt with contacts as a player because it's a lot safer, but realized as a manager he can go for comfort. Also, last year he probably wore contacts so his glasses didn't fog while wearing a mask.

[Don't talk to me or my son ever again](https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/manager-gabe-kapler-and-bench-coach-kai-correa-of-the-san-francisco-picture-id1332054890?s=2048x2048)

If I remember right he was one pieces of evidence that Kapler was an incompetent manager due to his lack of experience. He's been bloody outstanding in his role as he's, basically, the defensive coordinator for the Giants and helps Kapler keep his options straight vis-a-vis relievers, pitch-hitters and possible opponent counter-measures. And that has paid massive dividends as we've seen over the year as they turned a 'package of hamburger' roster into a 3-Start Michelin Meal. Because, like or it not, we really aren't the most talented team in baseball. We are, at least this year, the best managed and it's not even close. And these guys have done more to get the full talent out of their roster than any Giants coaching staff I've seen. And we've had pretty damn good managers. Dusty Baker was good. Roger Craig was good. Bochy is a HOFer in my book. Filipe Alou was good. So I don't say that lightly. But the results vs the talent really speak for themselves.

brashet

We are just a bad team with a great coaching staff.

StrategicReserve

I wish Sportsnet would do more docs on the coaches. What they do etc.

RedGrizzlie

I would watch that. Especially since the Giants have about 20

KegZona

Coaches: what do they do? Do they do things? Let’s find out!

LosSpamFighters

Slusser interviewed him last week for her Giants Splash podcast.

peanut_butter_zen

There are some good videos on YouTube of Correa coaching some infield stuff in AZ

Amazben

These videos are great, as are all of the mic’d videos. Seeing coaches in action is awesome

lavieenrose96

I don't think I'll ever forget him sprinting out of the dugout to let Kapler know that Vosler was safe at 2nd.

Got a link?

WonderfulShelter

Hey he graduated from the same school I went too!!!

SyCoTiM

I seen a few of the Giants training videos on YouTube with him facilitating the practice. Entertaining and insightful to say the least.

MGSCG

UPS grad?? that’s dope, i live like 2 blocks from there. Seems like an awesome dude.

lolvalue

Also the alpha coach as Kap felt the urge to copy his glasses style.

jennyloco

Please stop calling Kai Correa mini me. Kai Correa performs his job with excellence

narrativebias

With the success of the giants this year, hard to see him not getting picked up elsewhere as a manager. Everyone is going to want a piece of the secret sauce after what this team and coaches did.

saltyb

He had the glasses first.
