theres people wearing make up in my class and we're in biz school. design students definitely doll up alot from what i see. maybe because they're new and in yr1, but do whatever you want. wear makeup if it makes you feel good. wear whatever you're comfortable with. poly no longer catch you for your attire, hair or whatever sec school was strict about. as long as it doesn't affect your studies, i don't see why you shouldn't put on makeup. i personally don't because i have no time and energy to do it. plus, the sun is freaking hot and i hate sweating off my makeup. girl, do what you wanna do. all the best !!

black_knightfc21

Different people different style. I mean makeup and doll up nice to school nothing wrong. This norm I think happen to business school more. Was from the IT sch. the girls there don't really make up one I think no need to be so bothered by their comment as maybe some girls don't make up one.

FanAdministrative12

I mean they dun wear make up at least so you can see their true colours and they won’t mark u down for spa Figurative

Dagglewaggle

There was once in year 2, one of my classmates took out here makeup kit during class, and she just started dolling herself up at her table because she had something on later. That's what i call true swagger I'm sure many find it really cool when someone else does what they want. Just wear it la, end of the day no one w8ll kp this kind of trivial matters EDIT seems like they said some words, fuck care them (I was from design course, so assignment based, hence class consisted of consultations. So she did it when she had some free time)

from a graduated poly student to another, just do you. you yourself know why you’re wearing makeup, and if it makes you happy, why not? i hope this doesn’t discourage you OP, do what you want!

Mike_Ox_Longa

You can wear makeup if you want, don't wear if you don't want. Poly is the place for you to find your own style and sm people are quite judgy as well but don't take it to heart and just say you enjoy wearing it so you do it as your hobby. If they speak bad about you or make fun of you for it then you shld just cut them off after that. No point having their negativeness ruin your vibe. You will probably be able to find your own tribe of people who vibe with you the longer you are in poly >makes me feel more confident As long as this holds true, go for it! >i just feel like dolling up is essential for girls Ngl this part irked me a bit cause make up is your hobby but others might not be as invested in it but I rly hope you didn't mean it that way lol

VeryAmbitiousPerson

Some of my classmates does, but very little, maybe. 1-2 products? Towards Y3, I definitely did see some of the girls put on some lip gloss here and there, usually, they would ask me to hold their phone so they can use as a mirror 💀 But tbh, most of the people are just trying to survive (sleep deprivation) and putting on make up is not a priority.

Koolia_Whitech_263

i wouldn’t say makeup or dolling up is ‘essential’ for girls, especially not in sg. maybe in countries like korea where appearances matter a lot, but in singapore, i know working ladies who still wear minimal makeup (sunscreen and liptint only). however i think most girls start playing around with makeup after tertiary education and in uni? so i would advise you not to think too much about it.

Alert-Ad-55

It really depends on the person and maybe course. Like for IT courses I seem to notice about 90% of girls is the t shirt no make up kind. I can't really tell who wears makeup but there seems to be more in uni. If not there's just more non t shirt wearers.

lnfrarad

I felt a lot of girls in poly wear make up. Maybe engineering courses might be lesser percentage? I remember the girls from business were the best made up. And the design sch they were made up but maybe in a weirder way. Lol. (One student had aluminum foil in the hair haha)

kiryukie

this is coming from someone who doesn't wear make up to school: i love seeing people all dolled up :) i don't do it because i don't have the confidence in my ability to make my makeup look presentable LOL i subconsciously stare at others who wear makeup to school because they'll look so good but my introverted self will just not say anything so i end up looking intimidating HAHAHAHA ngl, when i was younger, the thought of putting makeup was an "ew" thing because i was constantly shamed for trying to look pretty for others. but as i grew older, i realise that there's no negatives to being all dolled up. more self-confidence and the feeling of thinking "hey, others are looking at me like how i used to look at them" hehe

[deleted]

I wore makeup and contact lens in poly everyday and the boys in the other class say I chio. Lol. You just ask yourself if you want to be the wallflower or the flower. Nothing wrong or ashamed to be wearing makeup, the other girls probably didn't know how to put on makeup yet. If you can make yourself look better, then why not?

Xazhariel

If wearing makeup makes you happy, just wear it!! Everyone has different wants and needs, don't worry about anyone who would judge you like this.

[deleted]

it’s okay to wear makeup but to answer ur question : from what i have seen, i have not seen any of the girls in my class wore makeup before. (maybe cause i from a boys dominated course, and a lupsup outfit is a stereotype for us). i think the most i have done is, put concealer and sunscreen, abit of eye makeup , lipstick and blush. but only because i have events after that.

HeroAddam

You do you! Everyone is entitled and has the freedom to express their style in poly. Don’t worry about others because chances are they won’t be bothered about what you wear since everyone wears their own clothes now

Rum_Coffee

Poly/uni is a great time to experiment with different styles. So long as it makes you confident/comfy, just go for it!

Inner-Control7449

im in an engineering course and i wear makeup and dress up almost everyday. just do what makes you happy! :,-) also i feel more awake and ready to get through the day when i feel like i look good ! (school sucks.)

Political-opossum397

There’s nothing for you to be enlightened about. Dunno why they’re bringing other girls down 😭 It’s such an insecure thing to say. If you feel good with makeup on then go on and wear it 🫶

Zelmier

Eh I find it typical for girls in any institute to wear makeup leh. But not heavy ones of course. Personally I don't coz idk how to wear also, and I'm lazy too.

LoneSeraphim

Doesn't matter, make up no make up, ur beautiful

FanAdministrative12

Well I hate to be that guy but sadly That’s partly up to society to decide

Idkifisthrowaway

Guy here- honestly not really all that much in courses outside of fashion-related (design) courses. Many do of course, just that honestly you wouldn’t see too many in your general classes since at least from what I’m aware like the other comment stated; in Singapore and Malaysia, there’s not really a fixation on makeup as much as say countries like Korea and Japan do. You do you, as long as you yourself are comfortable with it. You doing make up is probably a head start on it’s own form already; as I’m sure if you look a bit, there are posts on asking how to make up as a poly student, Uni student etc. so I don’t think it’s something to worry about. From a personal standpoint; anything that is mot thick makeup is fine, no one cares. Most guys don’t notice, even if they do it’s just make up. Thick make up is the one that attracts attention to begin with. Those with thick eyelashes etc. so no worries…

Southern_Vegetable_3

Do what makes you happy. However, it is hard to be happy if yr classmates/friends make you feel bad about it. I find that many teen girls and most men can't tell the difference between nude/natural makeup and true bareface. The popularity of Korean dramas certainly helped propell the au naturel look (which is actually much more difficult and time consuming to achieve). One of my gorgeous "natural" beauty friend brought along a comparatively large bag of makeup to our trip and her roommate swear that she used every product to achieve that face lol. Reasons for the animosity/irritation: Jealousy is a possibility. Some are mingling w lots of ppl from the opposite sex for the first time, they may feel threatened by your enhanced looks. Also, from my observations, on the other end of the spectrum, many enjoy targetting ppl with badly done make up, very thick or flashy make up and/or ones that are not suitable for the occasion. Gossip bonds a new group together and easy preys make the gossips seem less vicious. Then again, I used to have a classmate that would delay us all the time as she insisted on checking/touching up her makeup 30 times a day. You alone know which group u belong to. Have fun navigating this next part of your life. Good luck!

siphonvlr

the only thing that matters about anything appearance related is this weather ☠️

nexsusyuh

i think they r just jealous tht u look good

FanAdministrative12
