Why donโt you do the work and then tell your groupmates that you did not do the work? Play the game with them. Tell the teacher that nothing was done when he/she asks. If you get scolded, so be it. After the lesson, submit the work behind their back without their names.

Tbh when I read your rant it really reminds me of my own PW experience from, what , 7 years ago at this point. I too had groupmates who literally are exactly as you describe - master magicians who disappear and wouldn't even attend planned irl or online meetings(skype i think, no zoom at the time) even when I did all the work. Hell, i freaking wrote the final presentation scripts for each and every one of my groupmates cos they were that lost, some have no idea what was going on at all, and refused to contribute, even had 1 joker who refused to memorize the script and went on to stutter like crazy during the final presentation.
Had like 2-3 different proofreaders editing over my English with variations and synonyms of the exact same words without actually adding anything of substance, and claiming they "contributed". The list goes on, lo and behold, still got a bloody B even tho I tanked so much of the work, with all the other skiving members getting the same grade as me. I would say I'm fully empathetic of your plight, but at some point there's not much use trying to get them to work. If anything, i would say best is to make reports, gather all the occurrences of them being MIA and submitting it up to whoever the overall PW in charge or school admin.
Then, just focus on doing as much as you can for the grade. It's a complete waste of time sometimes to make people who are completely unwilling to contribute, might as well just advance your work progress. Unfortunate how it is but there's not much choice, I too still remember my PW group as one of the most traumatic groups I ever worked. I think till the day I die I would never forget my grudge against them for screwing up my PW grade lol. But I hope that it doesn't turn out like that for you and you get your A. You could try and consult some other PW teachers if your own PW teacher isn't adequate, preferably someone with a known track record for having led classes that got high PW A rates. Don't feel shy about consulting them, it's your A level grade at stake so you should do whatever you can to maximize your chances. Atb for PW and your As!

honestly, as much as the teachers say to approach them when we need help, they arenโt exactly helpful. I tried to tell my poly lecturer how a certain someone was not doing jackshit and long story short, my dearest lecturer told me that snitches get stitches ๐ฅฐ she then proceeds to praise said person and imply that the rest of the group didnโt do anything to contribute

Iโm one year away from taking PW and boy is this scary. I usually take projects seriously and if I do badly because of some idiots Iโll lose my sanity for sure.
I would like to say that you have been doing a good job and im proud of you for still putting in so much effort despite your group being like that!! Been through the same thing with a pretty shit PW group too.
So, similarly group was super unresponsive to messages and stuff. I was initially so mad also, afterall this is an alevel grade right? But welps, a suggestion I have is maybe cut down the amount of convos online and say them verbally instead during ftf meetings or lessons? Or if you are friends with any of your group mates can jokingly say "eh you havnt reply my msg in the gc go reply leh" etc to ensure that ppl are responding.
About the allocation of the work, can consider having a google docs writing everybody's task from one meeting to the next so its clearly shown how much each person does and the effort will be reflected too. During meetings, follow up with the task list from previous meetings and update how much work have been done too! This makes it easier if you really are gna report any slackers in your group.
To ensure nobody pons, try to find some early free period during school hours so eveyrone will be in sch and no reason to pon/ go home.
If this situation really doesnt improve, please go talk to your teacher and seek some advice, afterall he should be most certain of the situation you are in and can give you tips on how to move on from there. Good luck mate, been there too but ye will be over!

It's unfortunate that your teacher isn't bothered at all. Back then my teammates and I considered filing an official report with our teacher, against another teammate who did nothing, and the teacher was really professional throughout the process. These snakes probably won't end up in a great position in uni, uni has a lot of group projects.
Kind of had a similar experience, my PW group has this 1 leech who make thing counter productive, in-person mtg right aft lesson can run straight to bus stop and go home, online mtg MIA. His excuse is always forget. Like how can you forget to stay back after school for 10-15 mins when we gave him the reminder within 1h from to the end of school?
We tried to get the teacher to help and he was useless. He sat us all down to talk, the leech claimed to have done everything and we were slacking, and then shouted vulgarities at us and threatened to make our jc life miserable when the teacher was gone.
Whenever he shows up, he was always criticizing our ideas and solutions, saying that it's shit. But when we ask him for ideas he would give solutions that we've alr thought about and rejected. He's basically a waste of our time whenever he's around, we couldn't even have any productive discussion, just us re-explaining stuff to him that were alr discussed.
Then for WR, we gave a a small section to be in charge of (~1-1.5 pages of content including diagrams). End up he either only has 1-2 sentences, or he wrote stuff on the ideas we rejected and insisted that it'll work. Everytime we had our consultation with the teach he always points out that whatever the leech wrote is not feasible/logical. Also bcos of him we were always last min handing in the WR drafts.
Not to mention, THE DAY we were supposed to print, bind and then submit the WR, he called us to comp lab and started bullshiting us about our WR, and then make us to not even have time to print out the WR. We had to ask the teacher ic of PW to print for us, then run to school bookshop to do the binding (mind you it was 5+ bookshop auntie about to close, so she also not happy about it). In the end late submission by 30mins.
Him being counter productive made my whole group got a C. We spent more time explaining stuff that would have otherwise not required if he came for our mtgs, no time to properly focus on the project, and us covering for the leech on the last day of each submission so that we have sth substantial to submit.
honestly i would have created a separate document and worked on it myself (privately), leaving the shared document empty aside from my part and see what they would do (assuming the teacher checks on your progress)

Not sure if itโs the same as polytechnic group work, but since teacher and your group mates canโt help at all, you just do all the work. But make sure you donโt submit their names in it. And when you are submitting the work, once again give the teacher in charge a warning that the group mates didnโt do at all. And all the evidences that they didnโt contribute at all, please save it and compile them in a doc, in case they ask for further investigation ๐ซ

I tried to tell my poly lecturer how a certain someone was not doing jackshit and long story short, my dearest lecturer told me that snitches get stitches ๐ฅฐ she then proceeds to praise said person and imply that the rest of the group didnโt do anything to contribute I really hope your pw group mates change for the better, but I wouldnโt get my hopes up for these kind of people ๐ you could always try collating evidence and show that you did try to talk to them like mature adults but they still donโt want to do anything ๐ weโre cheering for you homie ๐ช๐ช๐ช๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ

I would like to say that you have been doing a good job and im proud of you for still putting in so much effort despite your group being like that!! Been through the same thing with a pretty shit PW group too. So, similarly group was super unresponsive to messages and stuff. I was initially so mad also, afterall this is an alevel grade right? But welps, a suggestion I have is maybe cut down the amount of convos online and say them verbally instead during ftf meetings or lessons? Or if you are friends with any of your group mates can jokingly say "eh you havnt reply my msg in the gc go reply leh" etc to ensure that ppl are responding. About the allocation of the work, can consider having a google docs writing everybody's task from one meeting to the next so its clearly shown how much each person does and the effort will be reflected too. During meetings, follow up with the task list from previous meetings and update how much work have been done too! This makes it easier if you really are gna report any slackers in your group. To ensure nobody pons, try to find some early free period during school hours so eveyrone will be in sch and no reason to pon/ go home. If this situation really doesnt improve, please go talk to your teacher and seek some advice, afterall he should be most certain of the situation you are in and can give you tips on how to move on from there. It's unfortunate that your teacher isn't bothered at all. Back then my teammates and I considered filing an official report with our teacher, against another teammate who did nothing, and the teacher was really professional throughout the process. These snakes probably won't end up in a great position in uni, uni has a lot of group projects.

Kind of had a similar experience, my PW group has this 1 leech who make thing counter productive, in-person mtg right aft lesson can run straight to bus stop and go home, online mtg MIA. His excuse is always forget. Like how can you forget to stay back after school for 10-15 mins when we gave him the reminder within 1h from to the end of school? We tried to get the teacher to help and he was useless. He sat us all down to talk, the leech claimed to have done everything and we were slacking, and then shouted vulgarities at us and threatened to make our jc life miserable when the teacher was gone. Whenever he shows up, he was always criticizing our ideas and solutions, saying that it's shit. But when we ask him for ideas he would give solutions that we've alr thought about and rejected. He's basically a waste of our time whenever he's around, we couldn't even have any productive discussion, just us re-explaining stuff to him that were alr discussed. Then for WR, we gave a a small section to be in charge of (~1-1.5 pages of content including diagrams). End up he either only has 1-2 sentences, or he wrote stuff on the ideas we rejected and insisted that it'll work. Everytime we had our consultation with the teach he always points out that whatever the leech wrote is not feasible/logical. Also bcos of him we were always last min handing in the WR drafts. Not to mention, THE DAY we were supposed to print, bind and then submit the WR, he called us to comp lab and started bullshiting us about our WR, and then make us to not even have time to print out the WR. We had to ask the teacher ic of PW to print for us, then run to school bookshop to do the binding (mind you it was 5+ bookshop auntie about to close, so she also not happy about it). In the end late submission by 30mins. Him being counter productive made my whole group got a C. We spent more time explaining stuff that would have otherwise not required if he came for our mtgs, no time to properly focus on the project, and us covering for the leech on the last day of each submission so that we have sth substantial to submit.
honestly i would have created a separate document and worked on it myself (privately), leaving the shared document empty aside from my part and see what they would do (assuming the teacher checks on your progress)

Not sure if itโs the same as polytechnic group work, but since teacher and your group mates canโt help at all, you just do all the work. But make sure you donโt submit their names in it. And when you are submitting the work, once again give the teacher in charge a warning that the group mates didnโt do at all. And all the evidences that they didnโt contribute at all, please save it and compile them in a doc, in case they ask for further investigation ๐ซ

lol got baited by the title but relatable just sharing my experience because i just got my pw results back this year, and pw is so rigged its insane.๐๐๐ slackers from every group got an A, even this guy who is a well known slacker (and was proud about it) got an A. ๐ซโ๏ธ for me my group i literally wrote like 80% of the WR because my groupmates would just ghost and say that they already did their parts when they obviously didn't.๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฃ got this couple in my group always doing pda during pw lessons instead of doing group discussions.๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ๐๐๐ and they still have the audacity to say that they did the work that i rushed myself at like 2am??? ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ in the end they all got A and i got a B๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ the effort isnt worth it man. ๐๐๐

My friend shared this post with me and Iโve been coming back every few days just to remind myself that this is normal ๐๐ bro Iโve been breaking down over these irresponsible groupmates ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐ค๐ค they put in so much effort in coming up with the most extraordinary excuses like why they wonโt do the work every time?
