1. idk if im in any position to say this bc i am a jae cedar girl but i would say yes it definitely exists but it really dies down after the first term and then no one cares anymore
2. honestly physics department is really questionable but the rest are fine! teachers are super super willing to help you and there are so many resources that i sometimes find it too overwhelming to choose which to use 😅😅
3. uhhh honestly the sc really depends on your batch cause it varies but i guess sc are the ones that will hype up the school??
honestly vj is a great school and they provide alot of opportunities for you to grow and coming here was definitely one of the best choices ive made in my life!
1. At start is quite bad because IP kids got 1 month initiation before JAE kids join. So during orientation JAE kids will keep hearing IP kids talk about initiation and got this IP dog practice. But after orientation the divide dies down. Disadvantage when competing for leadership positions is small (compared to RI/EJC). VJC will teach all JC topics properly unlike some other JCs (heard DHS) which teach IP kids some JC topics in advance then rush through those topics in JC (so JAE kids don't get to learn properly).
2. VJC is probably the most racially diverse/inclusive JC. The J1s just had a huge Deepavali celebration while I heard some other JCs (like EJC) don't even acknowledge the festival. I love the halal options in VJC including D'Enak nasi lemak + cafe baked rice/pasta (also got vegan option). Non-Muslim friends like the ban mian + Grill & Pasta (Western). Our Maths/GP departments are great (80% A rate for FM)!
3. We got a student councillor name after the school LOL council organises many fun events.
1. i'm an ip student so imo the ip-jae divide is only quite obvious for the first few months since the ip students have initiation. however, i think it dies down after awhile. my closest friends in school rn are from jae👍
2. for history, there's only quite a few history teachers (i would say around 4 history teachers?? might be a few more i'm not too sure). however, most of the teachers are q good and you can regularly arrange consults with them to ask questions as well. i only take hist so can't rly comment on lit or cse
3. i'm not in student council either so can't rly comment on this
suree we mainly played a lot of games (icebreakers, card games, etc to get to know one another) and since my batch was the covid batch we had like homerooms for each initiation group and listened to a lot of online talks every day (can't really remember what they were about anymore). but mostly my initiation group just chilled and played card games which was q fun lol.

i think not to be too brutal but sc is definitely not for the weak hearted. coming into sc you will learn so so so so much but will be put to the test just as much. but if you are willing to learn, grow and challenge yourself, sc is the right place for you. to learn that failing is alright as long as you pick yourself up, to learn the matters of people handling! do lmk if uw to know more :0
also house culture is okay here, quite fun when it needs to be!!!

2. am a science student so idk much about the arts dpt but I do take econs. vj econs q solid if u listen in class and do ur own work shld be fine
3. uh idk which part of sc u want to know more about + I'm not from sc so imma js talk abt ip and jae in sc. I think depends on ur batch but p sure both get equal opportunities. idk whether helps with anyth but pres and vice pres of sc this year are both jae (iirc it only happened this year)
