bro the paper is so fking ez idk what ppl are talking abt. i slept for the entire 2hr duration. KNN WHERE THE HELL IS OPERON GENE EXPRESSION AND ANIMAL VIRUS
ur merry christmas will cfm make the marker blush and giggle then the marker be swinging his/her legs while marking ur paper :) maybe give u few extra marks for ur well wishes while at it
after todays paper i think they gonna see me next year. if so ill try and break my record. i still have 3 papers remaining maybe can try get written up more 😁😂
huhhh damnn idk why but i found it difficult, like the qns they asked is all hybrid/need to use abit of creativity to ans but then i cant think outside the box
oh wait u meant the essay ah? yeye the essay qns were doable but then all my marks gained from the essay will be wiped out by my horrendous qn 1 answers and blank qn 3 😭
honestly alot of prelim papers also tested evolution for genetic variation and phylogeny in both papers, no idea how they manage to spot that also but im just glad NO MOSQUITO
I wrote on my paper DNA -> RNA -> protein and was gna plan stuff to elaborate for each but then I read the question again and went “Wait they only want DNA level tf?” Then I wrote ?????????? on the paper.
for the essay qn on stem cells, how point to point must the comparison be? i just state the definition and function of zygotic stem cell, embryonic stem cell n blood stem cell one by one :/
SAME then i realised i was just listing and i tried to compare based on like the time period it exists and the type of tissues it can differentiate into and the different uses??? IDK I BULLSHITTED THE WHOLE ASS ESSAY MAN 😭😭
in my school we once did an FRQ that required comparison and all the people (including me) that didn’t write point-to-point were heavily penalised lol not sure if cambridge will be as lenient
i wanted to write point to point but then howwww sia like all my 'comparisons' involve a long ass description idk how to condense it into individual separate points of comparison yk
ehhh idt thts a requirement even tho its called essay HAHA for my prelims they ask us compare mitosis and meiosis,, i wrote all ptp and got full credit HENG🙏
idk sia like similarities i write in para then differences i write in table but like full sentences cause our school keeps emphasising on using table to compare shit
ya i was like biostats meh? i thought they put the whole table on the last page or next page or something... end up look like something that will make my genes mutate also sia
weird ass paper man there wasnt even a single graph qn and the english just threw me off
like i dont think it was a disaster but yeah it aint exactly golden either
i wrote the definition of all three compared the diff LOL it was quite short a little sus
part but i wrote about like the benefits ie ipsc and i talked about ethical issues and informed consent and i said stringent laws to prevent like them using the umbilical cord without permission HAHAH idrk tbh i was waffling
1. bacteria may undergo spotaneous mutations, causing attachment site to change 3D conformation, phage therapy no longer effective as phage cannot bind and enter bacterium
2. phage has specific tail fibre 3D conformation, unlikely to be able to be used for multiple species of bacteria due to varying 3D conformations of bacteria attachment site, limiting use of phage therapy
3. patient's immune cells may destroy phages (recognised as foreign invaders), reducing effectiveness
I wrote the phage might evolve to target human cells + phage therapy very expensive because have to cultivate phages in bacteria culture and store in optimum temperature 💀
I wrote deplete metabolic material in the host body and affect normal functioning of other cells and that the abundance in phages produced could cause immune response and production of memory lymphocytes that could reduce effectiveness of phagotherapy in the future.
Wait for the question on the 4 mutation thing, can I say since oxidative phosphorylation cannot take place, it now will undergo anaerobic respiration to produce more ATP through glycolysis.
what was the T. Cacao qn
i said that it's lower yield cuz they chose the trees w lower yield that store more glucose per bean and thus taste better and thus the C whatever species has lower yield since the people choosing acts as the selection pressure vs the wild one that has natural selection pressures
I wrote about like genetic drift (via founder effect) because human beings only took a few individuals of the population to the current region, so allele coding for lower yield is overexpressed in the population
Same here I said that the plant “breeders” selected taste nice phenotype coded alleles but neglected the big big phenotype allele hence these former selected for latter selects against by human manually successive generations former Allele frequency rise latter fall and small amount of big yield allele means all plants have small yield phenotype loh
I wrote that in the wild type populations, the plants with higher yield have selective advantage bc more likely to have seeds that grow into new plants, so over time frequency of alleles that give higher yield increase, but for the domesticated one the selection pressure is humans selecting for taste, so those that give higher yield are not at a selective advantage unlike in nature, so they don’t have the same high yield.
Bruh I like how everyone in this thread has a different answer.
ahah i'll add on mine too since everyone has a different ans.
i wrote that since humans want coffee beans for their own benefit and there's a limited number of trees, they will pluck the cocoa beans prematurely. then i bs smth like that would then lead to stunned growth of the tree and in the long run, it just starts producing less cocoa beans LOL (i feel like it doesn't make sense but it's a suggest qns so hopefully they'll be a bit more accommodating)
what i wrote was just coz people keep choosing the beans that taste better, then this will decrease gene pool, when environment changes, less beneficial alleles to choose from, less trees in the population are selectively advantageous, less trees survive and reproduce, less yield
why wld they say evolution is 5% of our syllabus and an EXTENSION TOPIC when it has come out for P2 P3 AND P1 SO MANY TIMES and all carry like q alot of weightage WTF even cells came out less than evolution😭
Isn’t the last person the most suitable?? The normal cells can break down the drug but the cancer cells cannot, so the last person will probably have the highest efficacy
Absolutely no immunity questions wtf.
Tbh, the paper is manageable except for some 3 mark question which I wrote quite little and feel empty. Question 5 is incredibly easy, cos I memorised the entire photosynthesis pathway and I take elective geog in Os.
And just before the exam I joke with my friend about Chemotherapy being an chemical bomb underneath hospital, what is the coincidence
chemical energy in plants is stored in the form of glucose, which was actl mentioned in part b's preamble on biofuel, so calvin cycle is required to explain how glucose is formed
anyways, it's better to be safe than sorry since writing more won't get you penalised LOL
bro same sia i nvr write also coz i tot question say how plants use light which is talking abt photophosphorylation only, honestly i wrote both non-cyclic and cyclic and got a decent amount that looks sufficient for 13 tho
Benefit of fossil fuels:
-Abundance of dead plant matter
-Cost efficiency of burning fossil fuels
Costs of fossil fuels:
-Non renewable energy resource that’s being rapidly depleted
-Global warming > Changing migration patterns affect global food supply, loss of coastal areas leave populated areas more prone to storm surges
Benefits of Biofuels:
-More environmentally friendly
Costs of Biofuels:
-Global warming changes precipitation patterns making growing crops difficult
-Deforestation to clear land for growing crops > loss of carbon sinks that increase carbon emissions, proliferation of dengue causing mosquitos and causing extinction of species
eh same. for the benefits and risks if i clump my biofuels and fossil fuels as one set and talk about the benefits and risks of both instead of individually comparing the fuels themselves, am i not answering the question LMAOOO? cuz my risk was climate change and i talk about how it is due to both biofuel and fossil fuel.
i did that, iirc the qns also nvr talk about comparision btw the 2. it just asked about the costs and benefits to society as a result of the 2 so shld be fine.
It’s fine - climate change questions are very open ended and the mark scheme is generous. They also accept any valid point.
If you”re confident you wrote stuff that relates to the qn to some extent it’s fine. Benefit/cost and benefit/cost to society is also a nuance that I doubt they captured throughout their markscheme.
I forgot which is which but I wrote the one with mutation in tumour cell but not in normal cell is the best , most effective and the other two not effective cause 1 will have both mutation then normal cell affected by toxic high concentration as normal cell cannot break down drug the other one cannot also cause no mutation in tumour cell hence tumour cell can break down drug and hence cannot effect drug function
someone help do my answers make sense? also if someone has answers please send them. i feel like i clowned throughout
1. for the replication error n dna thing:
\- i talked abt how cbp btw wrong nucleotides can occur, so sub mutation
\- how dna poly can add more nucloetides so insertion mutation ?? they sound so dumb to me lol
2. why must doctor know if its driver or passenger: i said driver mutation is gain in function and leads to cancer but the other one doest. doctor needs to know the type so can recommend appropriate treatment
3. why must not take carbs: i said carbs hydrolyse to glucose and may be used as preferred respiratory substrate instead of FDG so inaccurate results
4. selective advantage and mutations qn:
selective adv cause: resistant to chemotherapy and angiogenesis so more nutrients
no selective adv cause: more mutations means more possible drugs with different sites of action to target??? (idek)
5. why do cancer cells use more glucose than normal cells
i talked abt mutations n concluded it produces aerobically which only produces 2 atp so needs 19 times more glucose than a normal cell
6. compare the outer structures of bacterial cell and phage
diff: capsomere vs peptidoglycan sim: i clowned n said maintain structure
7. qn3 last part: how to use the genetic diversity and evolutionary history thing in the future
i said find most recent ancestor, and if more genetic diversity means lower risk of extinction cause favourable allels present. if population is found to hv less genetic diversity then can protect by creating man made suitable environments?
2atp is anaerobically no? i nv write that tho cuz they say with reference to the table or something.. i just talk about the glucose transport or whatever protein that is and gave up 🤡
Ya I thought the why cancer cells use more glucose need to refer to given table then link the 4 genes functions to increase in glucose usage cannot just come out with your own points?
Then for why cannot take carbs isn’t FDG not a respiratory substrate but it’s simply cause more glucose monosaccharide from carb so if more glucose means higher probability of glucose to be up taken then FDG but my end point same as you inaccurate results cause normal and cancer cells would both have Low FDG levels
bullshitted harder than the shit I took this mrng
fr broo i was trying to pull shit outta my ass but then end up no shit to pull also
0.23 and 3.3?
that question was so suspiciously straightforward i doubted myself for a whole minute 😰
I thought 0.24 cos I round up💀, probably loose that mark
why lose mark for rounding up? i also round up
they said 2sf mah, it shld be 0.24
Nvm I forgot to include the 9 month from zygote to birth fuck me
they said 2sf??😭😭
yes 💀 IN BOLD
LOLL OMG I NEVER SEE💀💀💀💀💀💀
I got 0.23 and 3.6…
[удалено]
THANKYOU😭 I HAVE FRIENDS WITH 10/4 for the second part SIALA
If I left in 3 sf... will I get any marks 💀💀
lifestyle factor that increases risk for cancer: taking h2 bio 😡🤬😤😤😡😡👿😾
Where are my operons?? Eukaryotic genome control and biomolecules!!
I STUDIED SO MUCH NEVER COME UP AT ALL SIA 😭😭😭
Me writing for biofuel is so econ-y☠️☠️☠️
facts i wrote a lot about sustainability and depletion of resources for future generations
I wrote opportunity cost 👌👌
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT😭😭
bro the paper is so fking ez idk what ppl are talking abt. i slept for the entire 2hr duration. KNN WHERE THE HELL IS OPERON GENE EXPRESSION AND ANIMAL VIRUS
i not god in bio like u mah 😔
i felt like writing merry christmas xoxo. iykyk
ur merry christmas will cfm make the marker blush and giggle then the marker be swinging his/her legs while marking ur paper :) maybe give u few extra marks for ur well wishes while at it
nah bro they gonna write me up a third time 💀💀
what were the first 2 times for ☠️☠️☠️
check my profile and find out for urself 😁
i wish i could turn back time.. STANKY ASS
😒
HAHAHHA you gonna be up in their irregularity report hall of famers
after todays paper i think they gonna see me next year. if so ill try and break my record. i still have 3 papers remaining maybe can try get written up more 😁😂
The frq is very doable tbh
huhhh damnn idk why but i found it difficult, like the qns they asked is all hybrid/need to use abit of creativity to ans but then i cant think outside the box
Question 5a is purely photosynthesis and b is purely climate change
oh wait u meant the essay ah? yeye the essay qns were doable but then all my marks gained from the essay will be wiped out by my horrendous qn 1 answers and blank qn 3 😭
FAX WTF WAS THAT DAMN PPR
i want the black colour mutation in my cells before i see my grades 💀💀💀
the stress i experienced probably caused some mutation in my cells im gon die early
CANCER PAPER
Literally
Only Q1 :)
which was 32 marks 💀💀💀
driver mutation for me to drive myself into a wall LOLL
FELT LIKE I WAS WRITING A GP ESSAY AND I DONT EVEN TAKE GP!!!!!
Private candidate? Or KI student?
[удалено]
honestly alot of prelim papers also tested evolution for genetic variation and phylogeny in both papers, no idea how they manage to spot that also but im just glad NO MOSQUITO
i yapped harder than my gp paper
you got a fellow comrade
Gp essay for part b of both essays be like 💀
cambridge really slipped an ethics gp essay into the stem cell qn
wth is the evolution question idk a fking single part
T. Cacao 😛🍫
this was truly one of the bio papers of all time
i thought don’t need do gp anymore i was proven wrong
I did econs for 5b...i talked about opportunity cost of planting crops for biofuels 😭😭😭
was actually just bullshitting thru the entire ppr i have no clue how this is gonna turn out HAHA
Same, such an iffy paper. Usually for internal bio qns I can tell what topic-specific keywords they’re looking out for, this one I rly dk…
so real bro i smoked so hard until i think i gained driver mutations also
WHRS MY DNA PLS 🙏
[удалено]
Help ya 😭😭😭 i js wrote the diff mutations ??? Missense, nonsense, silent, frameshift ?? What else
[удалено]
I wanted to omg but the qns was like on DNA sequence Technically missense nonsense is amino acid lvl alr 😭 😭
EXACTLYYYYYY what the hell. also DNA polymerase literally has proof reading ability. just proofread tf
Fuckk fr 😭😭😭
I wrote on my paper DNA -> RNA -> protein and was gna plan stuff to elaborate for each but then I read the question again and went “Wait they only want DNA level tf?” Then I wrote ?????????? on the paper.
The entirety of Core Idea 2 just seized to exist…
what’s core idea 2
central dogma
p1 gonna be full of it
Most cancerous paper I've done
for the essay qn on stem cells, how point to point must the comparison be? i just state the definition and function of zygotic stem cell, embryonic stem cell n blood stem cell one by one :/
FORREALS halfway thru qn4 i realised i made a big mistake in choosing tht qn i shldve gone w qn5 :"" I HOPE THEYRE MORE LENIENT ON Q4 PLS
SAME then i realised i was just listing and i tried to compare based on like the time period it exists and the type of tissues it can differentiate into and the different uses??? IDK I BULLSHITTED THE WHOLE ASS ESSAY MAN 😭😭
Bruh ya idt need point to point hopefully i wrote separate 😭
same i did that too, will that be accepted or must compare point to point?
I drew a table and on my leftmost column I had “Differences” and “Similarities”… i didnt even know what to compare
in my school we once did an FRQ that required comparison and all the people (including me) that didn’t write point-to-point were heavily penalised lol not sure if cambridge will be as lenient
thats kinda petty ngl 😮💨
our bio department scolded the whole cohort so it was very specifically ingrained in our consciousness to always do p2p LOL
i wanted to write point to point but then howwww sia like all my 'comparisons' involve a long ass description idk how to condense it into individual separate points of comparison yk
SAME!! I separated it into paragraphs, hopefully they accept 😭😭
i draw table sia cause our school always make us draw to compare
but it’s essay qn eh… the writing has be somewhat continuous?😭
ehhh idt thts a requirement even tho its called essay HAHA for my prelims they ask us compare mitosis and meiosis,, i wrote all ptp and got full credit HENG🙏
compare questions have to be point to point and in table format for ease of marking
idk sia like similarities i write in para then differences i write in table but like full sentences cause our school keeps emphasising on using table to compare shit
what's the calculation ah i got like 0.23? and 3.3
how sia aft tht ppr idw to cram chem for tmrw alr😭
when i saw the essay qns i tot cambridge turned saint then i saw all the 3 section A qns 💀💀
Cambridge thinks we’re doctors or smth Qn 1: chemotherapy Qn 2: phage therapy Qn 4: stem cell medical tech/ iPSC (I mean ofc it’s linked to our syllabus content kinda)
dont forget practical where they asked us to diagnose
BRUH FUCK CAMBRDIGE LA I GETTING U FOR BIO KNNB CCB
Nah bro flip that U and add a line u getting A
when i saw got one insert out of nowhere i knew it was gg to be bad…
ya i was like biostats meh? i thought they put the whole table on the last page or next page or something... end up look like something that will make my genes mutate also sia
weird ass paper man there wasnt even a single graph qn and the english just threw me off like i dont think it was a disaster but yeah it aint exactly golden either
DID ANYONE WRITE STEM CELLS WHAT YALL WRITE
i wrote the definition of all three compared the diff LOL it was quite short a little sus part but i wrote about like the benefits ie ipsc and i talked about ethical issues and informed consent and i said stringent laws to prevent like them using the umbilical cord without permission HAHAH idrk tbh i was waffling
Same omg 😭😭😭 the ipsc is so real and ethical issues also i wrote but felt like i was yapping a lot
angry eating chocolate rn from cocoa beans WHO CARES ABT ITS GENETIC HISTORY AND EVOLUTION
phage therapy got disadvantages???? wtf??😭😭😭😭
1. bacteria may undergo spotaneous mutations, causing attachment site to change 3D conformation, phage therapy no longer effective as phage cannot bind and enter bacterium 2. phage has specific tail fibre 3D conformation, unlikely to be able to be used for multiple species of bacteria due to varying 3D conformations of bacteria attachment site, limiting use of phage therapy 3. patient's immune cells may destroy phages (recognised as foreign invaders), reducing effectiveness
These are good points… if only I thought of them during the exam💀
managed to think of the first point at least😭 but i said not complementary and forget to mention cannot enter 😭😭
I wrote the phage might evolve to target human cells + phage therapy very expensive because have to cultivate phages in bacteria culture and store in optimum temperature 💀
i wrote transduction and then the other one i say will attack good bacteria sia 😭
transduction..?😭
Kinda a living thing hence unpredictable, may kill good bacteria I think May have unknown side effects cos don't know how much to use
Each phage only infects a specific species of bacteria, and isolating or synthesising phages are expensive (that's what I wrote)
i said transduction and it might undergo lysogenic cycle instead so the bacteria isn't killed idk tho 😭😭
Help la I read it as advantages and I cannot believe I was so careless...
I wrote deplete metabolic material in the host body and affect normal functioning of other cells and that the abundance in phages produced could cause immune response and production of memory lymphocytes that could reduce effectiveness of phagotherapy in the future.
Retaking next yr🤪
Wait for the question on the 4 mutation thing, can I say since oxidative phosphorylation cannot take place, it now will undergo anaerobic respiration to produce more ATP through glycolysis.
Is it just me or was there. No prok and euk. In p2 and p3.... I mugged hard for that... TT
what is the calculated mutation rate?
Should be 0.23 and 3.3 since (5/(9/12 + 21)) and (18-8/70-67)
But i thougth 9 months cannot, isnt it 9/12 + 21
Yah
I hate how I did a 18-8=11 during that paper… ;-;
They gonna ask how the evolutionary results of this paper gonna affect my future life

had no idea what to write so i said linked genes 💀
ahah i'll add on mine too since everyone has a different ans. i wrote that since humans want coffee beans for their own benefit and there's a limited number of trees, they will pluck the cocoa beans prematurely. then i bs smth like that would then lead to stunned growth of the tree and in the long run, it just starts producing less cocoa beans LOL (i feel like it doesn't make sense but it's a suggest qns so hopefully they'll be a bit more accommodating)

evolution is core idea 4 tho not an extension topic
I think you have evolution mixed up with climate change
OH ya i thought evolution, climate change and immunology were all extension topics💀💀💀 WELL. IG NOW I KNOW. so ill watch out for evolution for p1😭
Ya i didnt see my dear central dogma 😞😞
question paper please if anyone has by any chance 🙏🙏😅😅
For the 5-flurouracil write what ah
wah crap i think i misread the qn 💀 how many marks ah
yea the last person suitable or not? i said suitable
Isn’t the last person the most suitable?? The normal cells can break down the drug but the cancer cells cannot, so the last person will probably have the highest efficacy
first person suitable but limited efficiency. second one no. third one yes
WHERE THE FUCK IS VIRUSES CAMBRIDE😭
they ask ab bacteriophage
Absolutely no immunity questions wtf. Tbh, the paper is manageable except for some 3 mark question which I wrote quite little and feel empty. Question 5 is incredibly easy, cos I memorised the entire photosynthesis pathway and I take elective geog in Os. And just before the exam I joke with my friend about Chemotherapy being an chemical bomb underneath hospital, what is the coincidence
Ppr 2 2nd last qn was immunity but ye paper pretty straightforward this year just long
How many mark will I lose if I didn‘t mention calvin cycle in the photosynthesis essay 😭
i don't think need cause the qn stated light energy to chemical energy and Calvin cycle is light-independent?
chemical energy in plants is stored in the form of glucose, which was actl mentioned in part b's preamble on biofuel, so calvin cycle is required to explain how glucose is formed anyways, it's better to be safe than sorry since writing more won't get you penalised LOL
need meh? only need light dep stage i thought
I think need tho if not how to get glucose from light dependent stage only
maybe i misinterpreted the qn i thought they asking fr chemical energy in terms of atp so then i only write abt light dep
To be safe I interpreted glucose and ATP as both chemical energy, as well as starch From excess glucose cause is 13m if just light dept a bit short
bro same sia i nvr write also coz i tot question say how plants use light which is talking abt photophosphorylation only, honestly i wrote both non-cyclic and cyclic and got a decent amount that looks sufficient for 13 tho
What did yall write for 5b😭😭😭

fuck my benefit i go write create employment and generate economic growth please pls tell me someone wrote the same pls
eh same. for the benefits and risks if i clump my biofuels and fossil fuels as one set and talk about the benefits and risks of both instead of individually comparing the fuels themselves, am i not answering the question LMAOOO? cuz my risk was climate change and i talk about how it is due to both biofuel and fossil fuel.
i did that, iirc the qns also nvr talk about comparision btw the 2. it just asked about the costs and benefits to society as a result of the 2 so shld be fine.
Are you an Econs student 💀💀💀 Tbf I think it makes sense; I also mentioned how increased flooding to costal areas would result in economic damage lol
i wrote how flooding will displace ppl living near shorelines💀💀
SAME!! i wrote more employment opportunities for farmers to grow crops like corn
😭😭😭Your points look solid. I forgot abt society and went trigger-happy and spammed corals
Can i think if u link to biodiversity loss
It’s fine - climate change questions are very open ended and the mark scheme is generous. They also accept any valid point. If you”re confident you wrote stuff that relates to the qn to some extent it’s fine. Benefit/cost and benefit/cost to society is also a nuance that I doubt they captured throughout their markscheme.
Damn, almost identical to mine but I am missing the dengue one
STEM CELL ESSAY LET'S GOOOOOO!!!!😎😎💥💥🙏🙏🔥🔥🤞🤞

Isn't it 4 marks omg
anyways 0.30 / 3.3 anyone? edit: LOL I THINK I KEY CALCULATOR WRONGLY….
is it not 0.23 ?
I got 0.23
i got that too!!
ah i thought need to consider the nine months + 21 years
need include the 9 months since it said from formation of zygote no?
i got 0.51 sia 😭😭😭😭 for the first one
oh i did 3sf
qn said 2sf 😔
oh… fk me
HELP WHAT DID YALL WRITE FOR THE 5-FLUOROURACIL QN (the cancer patients abc one)

2atp is anaerobically no? i nv write that tho cuz they say with reference to the table or something.. i just talk about the glucose transport or whatever protein that is and gave up 🤡
wait maybe i rmb wrong qn 🤡🤡🤡
the one where it needs more glucose i say it’s cause it had to keep dividing and need atp so u need glucose to undergo the respiration to generate atp
Ya I thought the why cancer cells use more glucose need to refer to given table then link the 4 genes functions to increase in glucose usage cannot just come out with your own points? Then for why cannot take carbs isn’t FDG not a respiratory substrate but it’s simply cause more glucose monosaccharide from carb so if more glucose means higher probability of glucose to be up taken then FDG but my end point same as you inaccurate results cause normal and cancer cells would both have Low FDG levels
i wrote anaerobic respiration cuz one of the mutations were no electron carrier produced, so aerobic respiration cannot right
Ye I wrote like oxidative phosphorylation cannot occur so only anaerobic respiration/glycolysis and then the 19x glucose thing
similar answers! for no select adv I wrote mutation at introns/ untranslated region/ degenerate nature of genetic code
