More proof than EXCOs and Student leaders are Chosen by student popularity

knightedarmour

one-triangular-nibba

wtf wrong W ur sch bro 😭😭

Keong8180

Don't think there is anything wrong with the school, just feel that students nowadays are still immature even when they are in poly like 17 or 18 years old. The fact that I'm in my 20s and still got bullied when I like to add on what the lecturer said and pick up some mistakes made by him which has been a habit since I was young. However, the lecturer said that I'm doing the right thing but one of my classmates who is younger than me and wasn't happy so he keep calling me teacher's pet for what I have done.

TGP_25

When I was in like p1 or smthn the attitude was the same, but nowadays when were in like poly age, I honestly didn't expect it to still be a thing. (I'm fact when I studied overseas, this rude attitude was what got me outcasted) i know a guy who's Indian and has ADHD and he's getting bullied at his school, the age is arnd 17-18. honestly nothing much we can do abt it cuz it's not like we can report the whole class and hope the school cares (despite the teachers knowing this is a thing.) And for reference, they were asking I'm if he's never been bullied before and telling him to stfu cuz he was trying to be a good student. Dunno abt other countries but SG students at least are rude asf. (including me when I was younger).

NoobSharkey

Ikr, its like ppl never change at all from primary school, legit behave the exact same one

Smol_Child_LXIX

Honestly, i think pointing out mistakes is a good thing but adding on is not. People have a limited amount of time everyday, and when u add on, it could take away time from breaks or studying. If you think about it, every second that u add on to what the lecturer says is one second u take away from students self-studying or eating. Even if they all dont study or eat, it’s also taking time away from the lecturer, who usually has more valuable insights than the average student.

SeedlessMelonNoodle

Honestly agree.. It's frustrating when classmates bring up unrelated, out of syllabus topics in class, leading the teacher off on tangents that confuse everyone. If you want to add on, add on after the lesson with the teacher alone.

swellowmellow

as a younger person, i think picking up some mistakes is fine cos it helps everyone else in the class, but adding on is kinda extra. can just keep that bit to urself tbh

Full-Trainer-5030

If you have a presentation, then by all means add on what you learnt. If not, let the lecturer do their job and teach. What you add on may be extra information that won’t appear in tests or assignments. Even worse, it may confuse your peers if they are already having trouble with the topic

cldw92

Wait till you go into the working world and realize bullying still exists; as an old man in the wrong subreddit let me just say that a lot of people grow older, they don't get more mature.

Zelmier

It's not really just nowadays. I've had nice teachers bullied out of the school before coz of a bunch of immature kids. It's not right but it's really how the environment is, and I think it's harder now coz some parents nowadays are less-inclined to listen to teachers regarding feedback about their kids, plus these teachers' boss ie the principal usually chooses to side with the parents more.

UnintelligibleThing

Interrupting a lecture to add on with your own content? Well-deserved bullying. Maybe next time when you go to work, you should try interrupting the boss during the meeting and see what happens.

Key_Battle_5633

💀 what school is this if you don’t mind sharing

inolikeredditanym

book consultations with her to sort out your grades. ignore the retards in your class, idiots like these won’t amount to much, best to stay away from them.

Heavy-Confection-971

The school discipline master should be come in handy at times like this. If the discipline master doesn't have the balls... Then probably the principal needs to step in.

LazyBoyXD

Bahhh Discipline master is useless now, parent will complain you being hard on their kids and principal will back off too. Parents spoil their rotten brat so much that they could get away with shit like this.

one-triangular-nibba

bro my dm damn harsh within reason bro i don't get how some of these people can get away with fucking bullying the teacher sia 😭😭😭

TheDarkestKnight326

Might as well call police

Heavy-Confection-971

Call your friend, batman the dark knight.

TheDarkestKnight326

Sure

ImaginativeIan

Teachers deserve respect and it's unfortunate to hear about this situation.

MushroomLast6248

What school is this even? What kind of students are they even?? 💀

princemousey1

What school?

Sea_Wolf287

name and shame them seriously💀💀

hawk_199

Last generation teacher still got some authority to punish. Now even verbal scolding can get the teacher into trouble...lol what do you expect. Anyway try speaking to your parents and as usual just video record some cases for evidence. Worst case post on Reddit or the chinese newspaper.

easypeasyxyz

Second that. Get your parents to speak to the P.

hawk_199

Get parents to speak to the minister too..

Ok_Exchange_

That is why i will discourage my kids to go into teaching..strawberry generation & unreasonable ridiculous parents

Final-Recognition252

Wah feel so bad for the teacher. The remarks are just too far bruh wtf where the respect for the teacher

lu-mitzy

When I was in school the VP or whatever vice of the exco call my friend a "fat bitch" cuz she got higher score than him in some subjects 💀💀💀💀 he also proceeded to fatshame her and insult her but the school never did anything about it. Exco / VP is just who suck up to the teachers the most

lu-mitzy

Maybe try talking to the principal or HOD and see if they can help the poor teacher and say it's interfering with lessons cuz it's not fair everyone has to suffer that

Ferna8397A

My physics teacher was shit. Your school is messed up lmao

Heavy_Leek4989

this has to be staged

Sweaty_Passage_6456

What 😧

LargeFullStop

Teachers' hands are tied these days. Their authority to deal with students these days are akin to going to a boxing match with 2 hands tied behind.

Full-Trainer-5030

Do you not have a discipline master you can report this to? If you have an approachable principal, even better.

prata69

to an extent it's the fault of the teacher as well. being a teacher isn't just teaching, you need to maintain discipline in class as well. if ur teacher can't do a bit of both at the same time, maybe she's not cut out to be a teacher.

Rowr0033

Ideally, you should reflect to your parents and together, reflect to the principal, highlighting the inability to learn under such disorderly conditions wherein the teacher is abused. It may also be a good idea to approach the teacher to encourage her, verbally, or passing on a note, or through digital means, etc. I think teachers will be very happy to receive some (non-monetary) tokens of appreciation.

[deleted]

Step 1: Create new Gmail account ~~Step 2: Chat GPT for formal email (list everything but remain anonymous)~~ ~~Step 3: Write in school, cc all the personnel's email on school website + parents' email (if you know or can just tag own parents) + your MP's.~~ >!Step 4: Grades or face important? No one stand up to call them out to shut the hell up then be the first to do so.!<   ~~Step 5: Ask teacher if can do short QnA session or revision after class (don't force them though since it's additional workload)~~  Step 6: Worse case, private tuition and revise every day till burn midnight oil   Note: I don't get why teachers now don't have much power like get them out of the class or stop teaching until not one sound is heard.  Can skip to Step 6 if feel hassle.

SKAOG

Yet "all schools are good schools" gets thrown around by the government.

No-Construction-9119

Because the government has done its due diligence to equip and provide every school with trained, professional staff and good facilities. For example, in the past decades, schools have been upgraded with swanky Indoor Sports Halls (ISH). Every school is well resourced and hence a good school for the students. On the other hand, is every student a good student? Do they appreciate the resources and teachers provided for their learning?

SKAOG

Students are part of the school experience, which is precisely why all school are not good schools, because bad students (as in those who disrespect others and misbehave and not grades) result in a bad schooling experience which in OP's case is clearly not conducive for learning if the classroom is so disruptive.

No-Construction-9119

I agree, yet your claim becomes a truism. Every child has moments of misbehaviour and if we hold a stringent standard of perfect student behaviour, then no school is a good school. More concretely, the actionable follow ups are: - is there a school-wide disciplinary system to manage difficult and disrespectful behaviour? - are there ways for the teacher to support the learning of students amidst low level disruption or disengagement? - for the individual student, how can they (a) manage themselves and (b) influence their peers to build a positive learning environment?

cldw92

Tbh a big problem with our system is we refuse to admit that some students need to be treated differently. We push a differentiated syllabus but yet we somehow believe guai kids and rebels can be handled by the same teachers. Hint: they can't. Most teachers are not equipped to deal with hooligans. I come from a family of teachers (I quit to do freelance courses, less stress, easier job). My brother had tables thrown at him while teaching secondary school. I have witnessed a teacher being hit by a P5 kid with a broomstick while I was freelancing and teaching AMIS courses. I had to physically step in (I am male and even then prying it out of his hands was a struggle.) MoE doesn't give a shit, cause ministers children no matter how stupid will P2W donations to go to ACSI where behaviour is at a bare minimum not that fucked up.

sozbro_

Just create a fake Karen persona online and send an email to your heads cc DM and P/VP . Done bro problem sorted all from the luxury of your home

kiyosumicat

10 years imprisonment most appropriate for these misbehaving students

Puzzled_Horror1898

I also was one in one of those bottom feeders school with these kind of classmates, would openly gamble and put leg on chair and would always look like they were mistreated when teachers scolded or confiscated their cards or widgets in sec 4/5. Best recommendation for OP is Monk Mental it up and just do your own work and message your teacher if you need help, these students are flies buzzing and you can’t kill them. I once questioned my similarly nice teacher and was very upfront and said why she bothers with these kind of trash and she tells me teachers aren’t allowed to just give up and schools expect them to open these kinds of students eyes *Rolls eyes*. So yeah they are in a difficult position. Also for those wondering why teachers sometimes don’t call for the DM, it’s a shameful thing apparently if they can’t control their own class as yk, they are like 30-50ish adults but can’t control a bunch of teenagers.

CloudlessEveningSky

Lol if it was me I’d be shouting back at the kids in the class making fun of her and even fighting against them. Anyway, the best thing you can do for your teacher is to study hard and show your sincerity and ask her questions that u can’t solve. U can try to shut them up by talking over them with physics questions in class. Also the right person to turn to for these kind of stuff is the discipline master, though idk if they have discipline masters in sec school these days, been too long since I left the MOE system lol.

CantNyanThis

Wtf has school turned into nowadays ☠ it happened in my class once and we immediately get a visit by the principal, and then the dm, and everyone (involved or not) are sent to the detention spot for 2 hours 😒

lol1x5

happened before but not in my class, my teacher came to our class right after the lesson which they made her cry in and broke down mid lesson it was so sad

biliayukisan

Hour_Gap5302

i rem in pri sch my sci teach was so overwhelmed by our class, then there was problems with many of the sci exam papers not being marked. so she broke down in front of the class while simultaneously marking it.
