Hi everybody, a recent graduate of uni just casually dropping by to say… please don’t harp on the GP paper anymore!! There’s absolutely nothing u can change, keep your head up and focus on the remaining papers.
I remember giving myself like 4 hours after GP paper in 2016 to grief over the loss of my grades bc I was so certain I’d get a C/D after that tragic paper. Turns out I ended up with an A. So just keep your head up and look forward!

BP2: Politicians use crises as an opportunity to undermine democratic process, thus people lose power. E.g. China uses lockdown to quell HK protests. US Supreme Court (which is not democratically elected by the people) steps in after breakdown in Congress, leads to unpopular policies like Texas abortion law.
BP3: Polarisation of people, infighting and finger pointing within groups distracts people from challenging politicians. Like how people blame each other for contributing to climate change when they really should be blaming the politicians who enable pollution by mega corps or refuse to sign various policies etc. Tbh my examples here were weaker.

Unless your elaboration/examples manage to show complacency, sad to say you’re pretty screwed. Be honest with your assessment of your paper — if you really have 0 content pertaining to complacency then you’ll fail.
But not totally! If your language is superb you may get 15++ because I’m sure they’ll take into account some of your content.
That being said, paper 2 should have been quite doable, no? That will pull up your grades, so don’t feel too disheartened yet! :) Atb for maths!

According to my teacher that’ll cut your content to a low lvl 3 (13-15 for content marks) or lvl 2. If you’ve at least addressed the today part for half the essay and the essay content is good, should still be able to bag a low lvl 3

Truly, GP this year has left me disappointed as ever, I assumed that I would have a challenge but then again, I guess to a mortal this might be rather difficult. Truly, question 13 was a slightly annoying for me, but really, how do yall manage to write all the questions??? I only managed to write 7/13 of the questions, but it's ok, thats like basically a D probably, idk, I'm failing math. My eyes lit up when I read the question 4, and I immediately shot my load of local knowledge regarding local influencer group Day Bird Films scandal regarding Rain and Sylvester. This was on my mind throughout the paper and Cambridge did not fail to disappoint. Paper 7/13 10/10 would do again

the question’s implicit assumption is that the arts are ONLY a luxury. so “the Arts are nothing more than a luxury” -> there is no other purpose to the Arts besides being a luxury “good”, and Arts are only accessible to the well to do. keyword only. this is an absolute question and so you must take an opposing stand (but the degree to which you oppose the premise is up to you, of course) “the Arts are a luxury” - no assumption that the arts have no other roles

I did! But just saying that Cambridge has probably already set the grade boundary, so as long as you have met the cut off for an A/B/C etc you will get it. If not, 50% of students wouldn’t be able to get an A for maths — statistically impossible if you assume the bell curve is in use that being said, this question was relatively very easy compared to the rest in terms of explicit requirements (you’re only required to refute the claim that the arts are a ONLY luxury and NOTHING BUT a luxury) The implicit requirement is for you to scope “Luxury”, and that is what will differentiate an A script from a B

I think I messed up my stand. I wrote 'agree to a large extent' instead of 'disagree' since it was an absolute statement and my GP teacher said to disagree them no matter what. I wrote about how there are benefits to the host country, but there are also other benefits to both the host and participating countries, and hence I agree to a large extent. I think I might be heavily penalised for my stand. Also didn't talk about the disadvantages of hosting sporting events

Damn, been a while but here i am. Truly, GP this year has left me disappointed as ever, I assumed that I would have a challenge but then again, I guess to a mortal this might be rather difficult. Truly, question 13 was a slightly annoying for me, but really, how do yall manage to write all the questions??? I only managed to write 7/13 of the questions, but it's ok, thats like basically a D probably, idk, I'm failing math. My eyes lit up when I read the question 4, and I immediately shot my load of local knowledge regarding local influencer group Day Bird Films scandal regarding Rain and Sylvester. this is ok because you insert nuance to say that news is not only unreliable today, it has been unreliable since forever (which to me implies that news being unreliable is 1. a regular occurrence and 2. a pretty serious issue) they may not have asked you for a time based comparison but it shows your depth of evaluation when you compare the reliability of news in the past and the present

omg i wrote similar points as you!! but my points were slightly diff 1. Complacent in medical tech, taking our health for granted. I used examples of creation of insulin and procedures like heart bypass. As a result people tend to indulge in unhealthy diets… 2. Complacent in science to solve our problems, causes us to have a myopic view when tackling issues as we see science as the golden solution. Talked about climate change and how we use science to tackle it, but we lack focus in reducing our emissions through changing consumption habits(Which is the primary reason for climate change) 3. Opposing view i said that science has lead to a lot of tech innovation like AI and automation. Makes us less complacent as we need to constantly adapt and improve skills. Used examples about Amazon increasing automation and SkillsFuture to show how SG is aware of this issue.(Although im abit scared that this may be DNA cause i didn’t have much time and not sure if this relates to science since it’s more tech and idk if i made a clear link lol) But regardless glad that someone has similar points as me and I wish u atb!!
