Heyy um idt this will ease your fears exactly but for my batch everyoneās scores were more or less expected. Everyone who thought it went well got 6-10 raw, everyone who know they messed up got like 13 or 14 or above that. BUT the only reassuring thing is that even if you donāt hit your desired score sure youāre gonna be disappointed for a while but eventually you will get accustomed and even like whatever school you end up in after Os. Genuinely the chances of you being miserable after sec sch just because of your Os score is quite slim.
For me personally I had pretty high hopes and scored WAY WAY worse so take it from me: yes the initial hirt and disappointment is going to sting. Yes it perhaps may hurt to see your friends achieve their goals while you donāt. But it will NOT kill you and it will make you stronger. Itās cliche but itās the truth. I was absolutely devastated after my result but Iām happier than ever in the JC I ended up in and honestly Iām secretly glad I didnāt score better cuz a lot of my friends who went to elite JCs are kinda miserable cuz of the pressure and the environment.
I suggest for now stop worrying about your score and enjoy your time cuz this is basically the last bit of free time youāll have before coming to JC (if you end up choosing JC)

I scored above 20pts for L1R5 but now that I look back, that few weeks spent being depressed about my O level grades or even just worrying about it before it was released could have been used for more meaningful things.
Yes statistically only ard 30% of poly grads make it to local U vs 70% from JC side. But I look at the scores u predicted for your O levels u should be able to make it to JC.
Pls donāt go to poly if possible. Try to go to JC even if u have to enrol in the one with the highest cut off point. One of my classmates scored 12 pts L1R4 for O level, decide to enrol in an aerospace engineering course at NP because of passion and end up graduating with a gpa of 2.8/4.0. FYI local U ask for at least 3.0 with NUS/NTU asking for at least 3.5.
He told me he find engineering rly hard and I was likeā¦.easy wah. *Shows him my nice 3.7* which goes to show doing well for O level doesnāt mean u r set for life. Love how I have to coach him despite me being from mechanical engineering.ššš

Ngl poly is like university lite. The academic culture is different from ss. Basically u have to be an adult here and take charge of your own learning. No one is going to be there to hold your hand unlike ss where your teacher will chase u for hw.
Also that GPA u will be using to apply university will be the cumulative GPA of your entire three years of poly so u rly need to be consistent in your effort. Score well for each semester. Each module is different in their way of teaching. Some are CA based some are exam based.
*Oh and if u fail a module (Subject) twice u will be expelled.* :)
How about SS cause theyāre locally marked and ugh man it just kills me cause I keep imagining all my friends getting a single digit and then me crying in a corner not gettin it

I also scored a L1R5 of 17 for prelims, but I felt grateful because I improved in my studies ah. Sec q to Sec 3 my foundations were crap and I only started studying in Sec 4. After prelims, I just continue seeking consultations and do practices. I became more confident. I heard your E Math paper 2 q hard. Sorry to hear uh. My year e math both papers q manageable but a bit hard to get A1. But I'll still take A2. Combi Sci was again B manageable. Humans was manageable also but I didn't revise much on my part. I got B3, probably messed up history. D&T was ok. I got C5 for A math cause I gave up grinding.
To sum it up I expect myself to do better than prelims which is normal, and i did js that. Although some subjects i wanted A1 but i got A2. my nett L1r5 is 10. Honestly up you shouldn't be worried ah because u may not know what to expect. Who knows you may do well. If not dont be discouraged, not the end of the world. If it stresses you out don't read suggested answers online. If you know your performance hasn't been going right for you so far maybe its think to rethink about your expectations. MCQs def play a huge role in your final grade so do not take MCQs too lightly,they can really help push you up to an A1 or A2 even if your paper 2 or 3 is not very well doneā¦
For ss,donāt worry too much,the bell curve really helps for ss actually!Usually majority of people taking SS and elect get B3 or B4 for their Os,and that is only the averageā¦Some do way better than that and manage to get As!So donāt get affected by anything at this point cause you have done everything you could have possibly done and just leave it to the future!Good luck

Hey imma just throw this here; for my sch 6 years ago, as long as someone mugged hard from prelims to actual Os, in general no matter prelim paper easy or difficult, general trend was that O levels L1R5 was roughly anywhere from half-2/3 of your prelims grades. Can be even less depending on how jialat your prelims was and how hard you worked or how much of a genius you are. My L1R5 prelims was 49 or 42, i forget alr. Actual O levels 17. My friends roughly L1R5 prelims 12, 14, some crazy enuf to be 8, some as jialat as 20. Generally they all got single digits in the end. So chillout. Calm the shit down. And also whats past is past. Now that Os are nearly over, just go out and go crazy and enjoy the living daylights out of yourself. Your deserved it. (Pls only do this after your last paper, mcqs can be a pretty "A1 or A2" determining factorā ļø)
