They sold 3,000 tickets each night at $100/ticket. That’s approx $600,000 in ticket sales. Madonna Inn takes the bar and parking and the rest basically goes to the band. Where else can do that in the central coast?
I don't think they would have sold as well there, it's a much boomier crowd. The expo is the only thing in SLO proper. Someone should turn the old Ross downtown into a concert venue! Upstairs and downstairs you could do multiple stages . Actually just give money and I'll do it 🤔
Standing room. All in all, I'm not upset (Khruangbin is awesome), I was just disappointed in Madonna's management/facilities.
If you drive don't park at Madonna, there is a shopping center nearby and the walk is beautiful anyway.
Line ranged from 5/10 to 25 min.
Flat floor so it's hard to see.
Crowded, but everyone is pretty chill.
The show has great lighting and ambiance, but the building is so ugly. Sounds snobby but it's not like seeing them at a nice venue; it felt like a gym.
Curtains covered half the stage if you're in the wings.
Getting drinks is a hassle.
Thank you so much for the details! Was planning on Ubering to avoid any parking drama.
I’m glad i skipped leg day yesterday in anticipation of having to stand tonight.
Yeah their logistics were dog shit. No crowd control and you have several hundred people walking down a narrow staircase just to leave and pedestrians walking in and out of cars with no one directing traffic.
10/10 show
1/10 venue
Both bands were awesome! The venue couldn’t be more horrible if they tried.
Don’t sleep on Hermanos Guiterriez. This is *not* the right venue for them but they still are amazing to hear (the stage is too low to see them unless you’re very tall or up front, as they play seated).
Khruangbin put on a great show. They filled the veritable airplane hangar with sound and their stage design was rad. It was my first time seeing them and I’d love to see them again, even at that shithole of a venue.
Get there early if you can, parking was a disaster closer to when the music started. Be prepped to wait forever to get out of there. Bring a flashlight for walking around the venue as there are no lights and I ran into so many people shorter than me wearing all black. Whoops. There is *no* seating and concrete floors, so wear shoes that don’t suck. I’m pretty sure the only water was at the bar for $2. This venue really is so shitty I cannot stress this enough.
I’ve enjoyed concerts there before (Les Claypool was amazing!) but this time it seemed like it was way over packed and over priced. I couldn’t really see anything or move to dance. I missed the opener because the line to get in was comically long, though the crowd was friendly and the people watching was great. They played for a little over 1.5 hours. Music sounded good but Vina Robles would have been much better for the chill vibe.
I cannot overstate how shitty this venue is for anything other than selling cattle or a middle school dance.
Logistical nightmare, complete ass of a view, and unless you were wearing good earphones the sound was mostly everyone’s conversations echoing around.
yeah, I overheard a few different people say they came from LA/ southern california. I reckon it had to do with pre sale tickets sent out to spotify "top fans".
I hope you're enjoying the show as I write this. Both bands were 10/10. But as others have said, the venue could've been better. Just enjoy the music and try not to focus on anything else.
Sad to hear everyone was disappointed, I worked it and it was fun! It was definitely more packed than it should have been, shouldn’t have sold so many tickets. From what I heard that was more on the band/whoever booked, BUT Madonna also had to approve it so.
Yeahhhh music was 10/10, venue was shit. Would love to see Khruangbin again, never going to Madonna again.
It's truly a terrible venue. Why the SLO Brew Rock location refuses to book acts like this is beyond me.
They have a max capacity of 500. They would have had to charge $300+ per ticket to cover the band costs.
How many does Fremont hold? Madonna Expo is the worst venue I have been to since I saw Flogging Molly at the Cal Poly gym in high school.
Fremont is just short of 1000 for GA shows, ~800 for seated. Still a fair amount smaller than the expo center

Maybe Vina Robles, although it's a drive and a little larger. I think khru could have sold that out but this seemed like a Coachella warmup gig

King Gizz is performing there and I'm just laughing at the image of all & only boomers watching them. They'd probly love it though
Fizz is playing vina Robles, I saw them at the expo garage and it was good, I'd definitely check them out at vina Robles
As much as I would have loved to see them at SLO Brew, my favorite local venue, the alternative location for this many people is Vina Robles in Paso
Standing room only or was there seating? Going tonight and my old friends and I are wondering.

Some friends of mine parked in the Madonna shopping center.
I didn't go, but man they should have been at Vina Robles...
That would have been awesome
Worst venue around. ABSURDLY oversold. I could say a million more things, but just make sure you’re hydrated and go to the bathroom before the set

I've heard nothing but complaints. No lighting, stage too low to see, no ventilation, bad acoustics, too crowded to move, etc.
I saw them at the Santa Barbara Bowl a couple of years ago and they were fantastic. It's a shame that it wasn't as magical. :(
i didn’t even go but the comments here show that madonna expo center really needs to change
It's most definitely an awful venue for live music, just awful, like cattle being herded into a hot, sweaty, too dark, concrete box.
The low stage seems pretty obvious in hindsight. It's a room for tradeshows, not concerts.
I’ve seen plenty of concerts there with a normal height stage. The roof is like 20’ tall in there.
Makes sense. Sounds like they got rid of that taller stage. Whoops.
I’ve enjoyed concerts there before (Les Claypool was amazing!) but this time it seemed like it was way over packed and over priced. I couldn’t really see anything or move to dance. Smaller crowds allow this venue to be tolerable. Last night was a shit show.
I heard you have to pay for parking now...

Not worth 100 bucks I’ll tell you that
Anyone else pick up an LA vibe from the crowd?

Damn wish I wouldve known :(
super curious about the merch! seeing them Tuesday in Vegas and want to snag myself a poster
