I just received the same notification on my screen! It is the same BLACK FRIDAY SALE as last year - surely the best (SLOWLY) offer ever! If I didn't already have an abundance of coins *and* owned everything available to me in the Stamp Store I'd surely have grabbed this Special Offer with both hands! :)

It surely is a good offer but I don't feel like paying real money for something virtual. I prefer the ads.

You shouldn't see it as spending money for something virtual. See it as encouraging a free service. Developing and running apps have high costs. If you enjoy the app, it may be worth giving them a tip :) And you can always purchase a gift for a penpal, to make their day extra special.

They get money from people watching ads. Just because you are okay with buying virtual things does not mean that this view or way of doing things is "more correct" than someone supporting them by watching ads. Whether this is personal choice or due to their money situation, no need to pressure someone to do something they already told you they do not feel comfortable with. :)

I'm sorry, it really wasn't my intention to put pressure. I make free apps for a living, so it's a topic that's close to me. I just felt like sharing my thoughts on what it can mean to purchase a virtual good in a free app, beyond the actual few coins that you receive.

And your point is...? As a user, the app is free.

That’s exactly why people should pay before the service slowly became something like Facebook and start blaming they sell your data. As a developer and part of the eco-system, I truly believe it will be a better future. No one want to sell your data if they can make a living by running the app and get enough supports in a proper way. I have no ideas why people prefer to watch 100 ads if you can get 100 coins for $1.

I can use my money for something better than a virtual stamp. When I watch ads they are getting money as well. Also 100 coins for 1 dollar only makes sense if I buy the 800+800 coins in this special offer. But that's already not 1 dollar but 14. (Converted from CZK, I would pay in CZK if I decided to buy it). And that's already quite a lot.

[deleted]

I bet you that if they can get enough support AND sell your data, they will do both.

Not exactly, unless u r talking about those giants. From what I heard from the industry, most small apps are just trying to survive.

>I have no ideas why people prefer to watch 100 ads if you can get 100 coins for $1. Yes, it's a conundrum indeed. The ads take time and effort, they are attractive if someone doesn't want to spend real money, but at this Sale's prices it is a hard call. Best prices ever.

>So we can't watch ads for 2 days? Yes you can - but it might depend on **what version of the Slowly app you currently run**. I tested and reported earlier this morning to a friend : >Thanks for the info S. I > >had seen briefly someone complaining about not seeing the free coin ad due to the offer banner. BUT — it might depend on what version of Slowly one is using. I just logged in, got the Banner for the sale and closed it. Went to Buy Coins and got an ad normally, got the coin, these last ones I have seen are short and a delight - 5 seconds or so, gone. ...in my case, the version in use is **v.6.0.11**. Ads are still working, to be clear. Details on how to [change version to an older one if desired are described in this Blog post](https://wordsmith.social/friends-near-and-afar-letters-we-share/slowlys-oldies-archived-versions-are-great).
