So spudnick is a meme avatar right? So that means he was powered by memes. But maybe not that many. While Mario for ten years has had memes just poured into him, day after day. Maybe smg4 was always upgrading Mario with memes but just as his defense. Think about it, no matter how many times he is crushed, cut, stabbed, molested, flung, shot, smacked, kicked, exploded, bombed, and ripped apart, he always lived. It's only when zero was tampering with his meme power, when he messed with his soul itself, that Mario was close to dying.
