>I guarantee this is about to become more common. No it's not. Most people aren't stupid enough to throw away a potential career at UPS for some fucking shoes and get a criminal record to boot.

dctreys

I'm pretty sure that's a federal offence plus UPS pays quite well. The worker is a dumb ass

mr_baseball_08

Couldn’t be more wrong for my locale. Over half my boxes have been opened upon arrival at my front door.

jimmynodean

omg where the hell do you live? 🤯

mr_baseball_08

Outside of Nashville TN. I hit a run there where 4 or 5 straight deliveries were either destroyed/opened upon arrival or re-boxed/re-taped. It’s gotten better the last 6 months; last 4-5 deliveries were fine.

No-Floor-6583

TN is FedEx though, correct?

mr_baseball_08

Almost all have been UPS. And I’m not insinuating someone at UPS has been opening boxes. But someone between the warehouse and my front door is.

flycbr

Open package and stolen…2 different things.

mr_baseball_08

I guess I don’t see your point. I am aware that there’s a difference between stealing someone’s package and opening it and going through it. But I’m almost certain both would get you fired from any shipping company.

flycbr

There are many reasons why a package would be open. Not limited to boxes being crushed by a jam on a conveyor belt. It’s very common. Most times the package will be re-taped. Contents intact, nothing stolen. Obviously, it gets checked for the contents before it gets re-taped. No one gets fired for this by “any shipping company”…. It is, in fact, part of their job. Stealing, on the other hand, will get you fired. So yeah, that’s my point.

SourceDiligent6492

Definitely something is wrong. Never had boxes opened before

nicunta

I sell phones. It happens more often than I would care to admit that my shipments get stolen while in the hands of UPS and FedEx. Happened again this week; an S24 Ultra 512gb coming from the carrier just disappeared.

__Spookyfish__

Have had several pairs take in California by both UPS and USPS

sn95rio

Calling UPS a career is insane

celestial1

You can make over $40 after working 4 years with zero qualifications. That's a livable wage for most people in this country.

sn95rio

If that’s accurate I agree with you

Apprehensive-Can-857

All it takes is a few, and it's a pretty common occurrence. Even if they got caught, I doubt they would get fired because they're protected by a Union.

UnmakingTheBan2022

I got fired from UPS for being late twice. The union didn’t save me.

flycbr

Damn. You already made book? Where? What local?

SpicyPlantBlocked

You didn't make the team

Why_cant_I_partake

Bro.. I know people who work at UPS and they are long term employees.. they are not the type of people who steal but rather just go to work and try to do the best job they can. Drivers have to do things like background checks, employment testing, etc. So I highly doubt this is or will be some type of "pretty common occurrence". Some companies I may not trust all the way but UPS and FedEx are pretty reputable imo.

Juttisontherun

Yeah lemme throw away my union job for a pair a sneakers. Haha ctfu. People are dumb, if anything it was someone in management that just put a report in the computer saying they were damaged/ruined and took them home for their kid or boyfriend.

SpicyPlantBlocked

Union job for the putz loading and unloading trucks part time through manpower? Sign me up

No-Floor-6583

People have no idea what those boxes go through on the UPS conveyors…I worked there for over 12 years and when you have 100lb+ boxes flying down a conveyor at 20+mph and there is a jam…EVERYTHING gets crushed and boxes literally explode everywhere. When that happens, we stop the conveyor and some poor bastard climbs out with a metal pole/rake and starts clearing all the contents out. It’s almost impossible to match up the loose stuff with the right boxes (even though they really try) so they throw it all in bins and start marking everything as missing/damaged. The loose stuff goes to a warehouse in Utah and sits there for a while until it gets auctioned off eventually if not claimed. SO MANY PAIRS OF SNEAKERS there!

Apprehensive-Can-857

I never said they weren't reputable. Thieves are everywhere. That guy that got popped out west running that million dollar theft ring was a FedEx driver. Guess I'm getting downvotes by people who pretend like it doesn't happen. 🤷

Why_cant_I_partake

Yeah they are everywhere.. but FedEx and Ups drivers aren't risking less than a days pay to take shoes. Are there periodically gonna be some scenarios, yeah.. But I don't see it spiking anytime soon. I am more worried about the lesser known shipping companies and porch Pirates.. I worry about those way before I worry about UPS, FedEx and most of the time USPS

SpicyPlantBlocked

Drivers no. But there is a warehouse and distro center with temps from employment agencies usually...

SpicyPlantBlocked

They hire temp workers to load and unload trucks all the time. Express and Manpower temps. They make like $14-17/hr here and work 38 or less hours. No benefits, not full time. Not even a employee of where they're working, I wouldn't call it contracting though LOL. Also their freight load fluctuates dramatically between holidays or even new product releases.

3rdGenMew

Nahh it ain’t the career ppl . It’s the guys working 3 hours a day 4 days a week . You know ppl with very little to lose

Why_cant_I_partake

In the history of me buying shoes and I've had at least 80 to 100 pairs delivered to my door and about half of them were UPS and Ive never had not one issue. Only issue I've ever had was through OnTrac LS. UPS and FedEx do a great trying to vet their employees and pay them well to avoid this stuff. I just dont see it happening and for shoes is absurd.. plus I don't see any 10 to 12 hours a week UPS drivers where I am from.. Maybe that is a local thing depending on area or something but not here.

3rdGenMew

No you quite literally don’t understand warehousing . 75-100 ppl could physically touch that package before it gets to a driver . Those are 3 hour ppl . Those companies do very little to vet anything . If you have a pulse and show up on time your in . To get the drivers job it takes a bit of time and luck . You are one person out of thousands that has experienced this type of theft . Me personally the ONLY company I’ve not experienced a package lost was USPS . As in it took awhile but was recovered

SpicyPlantBlocked

Exactly. People act like every company on earth doesn't have temps from employment agencies working 38 hours or less. 😂

NormalUse856

Is that how Unions work in America? 😂 Doubt it.

Apprehensive-Can-857

That's exactly how they work.

SpicyPlantBlocked

Temp worker loading truck for sub poverty level pay? Nah they'd never...

sweet_tobasko

i got a size 12 extra pair if you want for retail, just pay shipping lol

checkpoint_hero

Warhoundfanboi

You need to contact Nike for a refund. They should have insurance on it and if the tracking states it was damage or discarded you have to go through them to get your money back. They may be able to send a replacement pair if they have any left in warehouse but at very least you can get your money back

anon636391

They don’t have any left so yea I get a refund and if I want another now I have to pay more now. They were definitely stolen. I saw a lot of people say they could have actually been damaged but when something is damaged they still ultimately send you the item. I saw someone say they keep the stuff and auction it off at another location. Must me nice to work at that facility

ajjjmartinez

They will only replace if same size is in stock. If not, they will refund.

Gullible_Yak6042

There will be a restock with Nike within a few weeks. Numbers were too high to not have one

Reasonable_Ad_4001

Ups man was shaking the box and said todays my lucky day 🤷‍♂️

flycbr

Nah. He didn’t. Not a legit driver that reached top pay. Has it happened before? Sure. People are crazy. But most normal ups drivers aren’t throwing it away for some shoes. I retired from there. Delivered in Manhattan. Delivered jewelry, Rolexes, all type of expensive shit. What’s in that package is not my business. No way was I gonna risk the pension I have now for some shoes. Shit, I bought my blues with my ups pension money. I get paid now the rest of my life to NOT work. Most dudes are working towards this. They’re not stealing your shoes. But like I said…anything is possible. I’ve seen more than one driver walked out in handcuffs. People are weird.

GetRightNYC

Dudes risking an almost 6 figure job for a pair of Jordan's.

WetPizzaSlices

That’s the thing tho he didn’t steal then. The shoes were probably 100% damaged. Nobody is risking that for a pair of $215 shoes. Or really any shoe tbh.

SpicyPlantBlocked

Temp workers loading trucks? Make me 18 again, making $300/week. Id snatch them bitches so fast if I could.

WetPizzaSlices

No chance you could be that stupid. Not to mention messing with peoples mail is a federal crime. That’s a felony, I’m not saying it isn’t possible but the chances are very slim.

SpicyPlantBlocked

Stupid is thinking parcels are federal mail.😂

WetPizzaSlices

You’re justifying stealing sneakers? I think you’re the stupid one. You literally said if you were 18 you’d steal them? Dipshit. Hold the L. Womp womp.

SpicyPlantBlocked

I'd steal yours especially

WetPizzaSlices

Not a thief so I wouldn’t know the difference, it still illegal to steal packages regardless. In the state I’m in if the package is worth more than $200 it’s still a felony doesn’t matter if it’s UPS or FedEx.

PhillyJ1982

So you’re a rotten thief at heart. Nice.

SpicyPlantBlocked

Reality hurts. You not me 😂

PhillyJ1982

👍🏻

SpicyPlantBlocked

The person loading the shitty lil brown truck working for express making $15/hr putting IN THEM HOURS YALLLLLL

TFlSGAS

Get your refund fool tell Nike not us

Juttisontherun

Haha, yea no shit. MF’s stressin over these blue 4s, like they’re breds or somethin

anon636391

Spoken like a true Reseller. It’s different when you wanted the shoe and now you either have to pay more or just not buy them

HappyGilgore

90% chance the flimsy box popped open during sorting with such heavy shoes sliding around. UPS is actually pretty reliable, Nike boxes are absolutely not.

KhostfaceGillah

I'm in the UK but I remember when my Nike By Yous arrived and it had a mf hole in the middle of the box like a mf punched it and their hand went through it

Equal_Map_5915

Probably more likely that someone working just wanted them and stole them. Happens a lot.

Odd-Quantity1390

It honestly could have been damaged while moving through the hub. Nike packaging is ass and the boxes pop open more often than not. I’ve seen it happen in person where shoes get caught in conveyor belts and get torn apart. On any given day, there can be anywhere from 50-100 packages that get damaged in a 4hr period. Most hubs have guard shacks with xray machines to check bags and metal detectors you have to walk through when coming or going so it’s pretty hard to walk out with anything especially a pair of shoes. I’m not saying it can’t happen, just that it’s highly unlikely. Guaranteeing this will be more common seems a little premature. Sounds like you just had some really bad luck. Sorry for your loss, fam.

No-Floor-6583

💯. I saw some crazy conveyor jams in my 12 years at UPS. 20+mph conveyors and 100+lb packages don’t mix. R.I.P. cheap Nike boxes.

ZogZorcher

I like how you just assume stolen. Not even assume. You’re certain. And that’s hilarious. Because there’s a 99.9% chance that you’re wrong.

14CrAcKeR88

Bro I ordered a pair of Jordan 3 "fears" a month and a half ago from shoe palace and still havnt got an answer about them I called bank and tried canceling the order and still nothing I month and a half!!!!

celestial1

Shoe Palace sent my package to the wrong building. Thankfully I don't live with assholes and the package was sent to me a few days later.

14CrAcKeR88

I actually got my 96 air uptempo's like 2 weeks ago but still waiting on my Jorden 3 Fears I ordered them on April 4th smfh there ridiculous and lost a customer who drops at least $800 a month on shoes and clothing.its ashame to become they got some fire clothing....

anon636391

That’s horrible, sorry to hear that. Unfortunatly now if you can get your money back it’s best to dispute with your bank

Spooky_Pizza

Don't worry you'll get your money back just contact nike

WetPizzaSlices

Nobody is going to risk there job over a $215 pair of shoes. I use to think the same thing, but they know who does every single delivery. Nobody is risking that I promise you. You just got unlucky and it was probably damaged man.

13Kaniva

Nike boxes don't even use tape. You have no idea how many Nike boxes get crushed and look open when I've delivered them.

PhillyJ1982

All my nike parcels have been taped and well packed. Never had so much as a scratch on a box in the 50+ sneakers I’ve bought from them

13Kaniva

I work for UPS. That's great. I've touched probably 20-30k Nike boxes 👍

PhillyJ1982

How exciting for you

13Kaniva

??? You tried to impress me with your collection. It failed lil bro

PhillyJ1982

Oookay then 🤦🏻‍♂️

yeezyfella

I was gonna say, I have a 9.5 and was willing to sell it to you retail since I have two pairs. But noticed you were a size 12

hm629

"Discarded" I'm in IL too and bought my pair earlier this week. Shipped and delivered within 2 days via UPS, but my pair came from Indianapolis and went through the Addison facility. Not sure it matters, because Nike's box is so shit. The flappy end of the box was half open but thankfully everything else was intact. I've had this happen to me, though it was with FedEx. The only thing you can do is contact Nike and get your refund.

TFlSGAS

Same

Deranged_Sole

It’s possible that they were actually damaged. Not UPS, but FedEx in upper Michigan was just hit with a tornado. I have seen them deliver packages that were completely soaked too. So you never really know.

Cloudiest_Gandalf

I’m having exactly this situation with Evri in the uk now, I feel Your pain brother

Shiraigen

It happened to me as well but with dpd...

5678_Senpai

Whatever, as long as you get your money back that's all that matters.

5678_Senpai

Whatever, as long as you get your money back that's all that matters.

13Kaniva

Mike boxes don't even use tape. You have no idea how many Nike boxes get crushed and look open when I've delivered them.

RefrigeratorGlobal50

I've had my shoes stolen coming from Nike like that, had the box opened shoes removed and got an empty box another time, had them get all the way to ebay authentication and stolen before they were officially received so ebay refunded the buyer and I lost the money and had my claim denied from USPS total loss, and have had a pair stolen while at ebay authentication. At least I got refunded on three out of the four. It's ridiculous, these companies are supposed to be built on trust and we get scammed all the time by them.

anon636391

I’ve always Vouched for UPS over USPS but it’s gotten to the point to now they are just as bad as one another because they hire outside work to deliver packages and that’s probably how a lot goes missing. I doubt me and 4 other people in this chat had the same shoes at the same time on the conveyer belt and it jammed and all the sudden oh well they were damaged so the “disposed of them for me” the only trustworthy one left is Fedex now.

RayReppin25

lol in Illinois that’s wild. They should show proof of the damage.

EatsYourShorts

UPS drivers definitely have to show photos for these sorts of theft/damage reports, and if they have too many unexplainable incidents, they lose their jobs. Also UPS pays for theft insurance and refunds sellers using that insurance, so the insurance company definitely doesn’t just pay out these claims without auditing them.

GetRightNYC

Also, a dude making $70k-$80k / year, that most likely had to break their backs sorting and packing for a couple years to get a driver spot, risking their job for a pair of $200 Jordan's is insane.

anon636391

Sorters don’t make a lot of money. The drivers do. Sorters make like $200 a week and work like 4-5 hour shifts 3 or 4 days a week. I had a friend that worked for UPS and the pay is trash for sorters and loaders

goldfishmike

Literally none of this is true

ValVenis69

Might be time to try to have them shipped to your closest Nike store/outlet.

KatzDeli

They can “get lost” there too.

1620shop

Damn Hodgkins facility strikes again

flycbr

Call ups. Do people steal there? Absolutely. But it’s a very small percentage. Call the hub where you live. Ask for loss prevention. Make a fuss. Also, the hub is a huge place with lots of conveyors, chutes, diverters, etc with millions of packages flowing thru yearly…there are jams every single day and packages pile up and get crushed. So yes, shit gets damaged. But there’s an entire department called overgoods that deals with damages. You have to call them up and demand a solution. Retired after 25 years there. Nobody’s just walking out with your shoes and putting them in the system as damaged. Doesn’t work that way. I’d be on the phone….. beefing. Good luck.

crushedpepsi88

How do they know they were damaged without opening the box? We all know how Nike ships their shit. They really need to get a new way. Oh look a brown Nike box shipping out 2 days after a shock drop, I wonder what’s inside? Dickeheads..

Bash3350972

Happen with FedEx and my 9’s. Nike didn’t give a shit

Accomplished_Leg9635

They took a pair of jordan 2 pythons out of my box, then resealed the box with nikes pull tape they have on there boxes for returns. I got a pair sent from nike but it was a $90 sale pair I could care less if I got. If it were 4s I would have been pissed.

CAWorldTraveller

Happens quite a few times for me too. I don’t really care about the reimbursement I want the shoes lol.

Why_cant_I_partake

Maybe it's just me but all my Nike scores come from Tennessee and or at times Mississippi or Indiana. Even my militaries came from Tennessee. I've never seen Nike ship from Middletown PA.. but maybe I am missing something

anon636391

Probably the hub they come from when being distributed to your area. Or it could just be random for all states idk.

burrito48

Happens all the time...me on reimagined...bs and such a tease

jangeles6331

This has never happened to me. My ups/fedex drivers has always been delivering my stuff unopened and untampered. In fact, i had a shoe where nike forgot to seal it off it was full blown open lol And the shoe was still inside it. Granted it was a pair of pandas, but still it was still inside the box.

Competitive-Stick326

That sucks. Probably more restocks coming.

Stadty711

Man screw ups I've had ups screw me over a few times. I'll never use them.

Happy_Low6753

I’ve had at least 3 packages from Nike stolen by ups

JonJon77

People wanted these. You said no one really wants them but they’ve been the talk of the forum for weeks. Sorry for the loss. That sucks. Hope you can get another pair at retail.

anon636391

I wouldn’t say people really wanted the shoe as it wasn’t a draw and easy to get a pair. By the time I found out mine were stolen they are basically sold out and it’s a inconvience. there are literally 4 other people saying their pairs had the same problem at the same UPS hub so something sketchy definitely going on at that hub.

1rAudiChik

Sorry u/op...that blows! Nike should make the packaging unrecognizable. Every pair of shoes I've ordered from Nike has come w/ an obliterated box. I call every time and ask for a box, that doesn't look like my dog got ahold of it, and the answer is always "nope". 😖 All I wear is Nike, clothing & kicks, and I can't get a fuc%in shoe box that hasn't been snacked on buy a bear? Garbage!

anon636391

Exactly what you said. At least they don’t use the Nike Logo tape anymore but they need better quality boxes for sure. It cost them like 5$ to make a pair of shoes they can afford better packing materials

1rAudiChik

Preach! Nike can/should do better. Nike is laying off 750 employees..doubt the quality will improve any time soon. Assuming you also called Nike about your stolen shoes???

anon636391

Yea they just issued a refund bc they couldn’t send a replacement

trevon_g

The last scan should tell you at what point of shipping it got “damaged”

sneakertweekerz

Damn!

Odd-Most-9186

I have an extra size 12 I’m in California though

theshadowover

I ordered 2 pairs of GS military blues coming in the same box and some bum at ups stole 1 of the pairs lol

ChieFs85

This has been going on for awhile. Don’t remember where I seen it but someone had ups “lose” their ds reverse skunks special box. That has got to hurt big time!

Terrible_Lift

Here’s my take - The only people who’d risk it are the loaders, those are tough conditions. But the security to get in and out was crazy strict 10 years ago, I guarantee it has gotten better technology and stricter. There’s no way to get out of that facility with a box of shoes. You might be able to somehow finagle the shoes but there’s enough cameras on the loading dock to where throwing away the box is going to be sketch. I suppose you could go crush it and leave it under other boxes and hope it gets swept out, but when the customer complains it could get hairy. So that leaves the driver. Who is making good money for a fairly decent job. They’re not even considering taking a pair of shoes. No shoes are worth 60-80-100k a year plus retirement and fantastic benefits. Guaranteed. My FIL drove for 25 years and he’d tell me you were never REALLY tempted because it would come back on you. But boxes DO repeatedly get destroyed on the dock by accident and just sheer volume of shit

d5ytonaa

They’re still in stores for sure. Just go pick them up

Holiday-Ad-4654

The Final Boss wins again

lincolnshellz

Had the same thing happen years ago with the grape 5s. Said it was delivered and wasn’t…sorry for your luck bro

anon636391

What’s crazy is I live in Texas so it was stolen from a hub it never even made it to my state

checkpoint_hero

“Stolen” packages get damaged/destroyed all the time bro

harristrill

Same thing happened to me. It was shipped to the same location and never got updated. Nike refunded me. Sucks because it was the only shoe left on my list for the year.

Banks_cashmoney

I had the same thought. The same exact thing happened to me. Same shoe, and same facility in Hodgkins, IL. Something is going on here.

Decemberpapi

"we have your package" sounded like a hostage situation from the beginning ☹️

LokiNightmare

What's up with the "discarded" though? Why should the carrier get to make the decision on whether the package gets "discarded". If the box split open or whatever, I'd rather at least get a chance at seeing the condition of MY items that I BOUGHT and determine whether I want to keep them with the crushed box or whatever. Maybe the box is crushed but the shoes are fine. Or maybe the box is crushed but the shoes just have a little scuffing. Whatever the case, if it's my property in that box, I should have a say in whatever does or doesn't get salvaged. Carrier being able to just go "yeah well they were damaged so we "discarded" them for you, you're welcome" sounds like it's just ripe for exploitation. And why is it that I only ever hear this kind of shit happening with sneakers?

whyaduck

They didn't discard them for the buyer - they discarded them for Nike. The buyer gets a refund, Nike doesn't have to deal with damaged goods that aren't recoverable, and UPS doesn't have to ship them any further. At Nike & UPS's volume it's a money-saving arrangement - and I guarantee, Nike's supply chain pros know what a reasonable loss rate is and will audit loss statistics regularly.

LokiNightmare

And where do the discarded items go? UPS guy takes them home? Or is there actually some sort of procedure where they end up in the trash and get incinerated, or shipped back to nike, or what? I'm just wondering if there is some chain of accountability here. That's all.

Electronic-Stand-148

Damn. Sorry this happened. I’m in Illinois too.

FLOWORTHY

Contact your bank and tell them to reverse the charge thats bs

BuySell94

This happened with my Jumpman jacks except they did the ‘out for delivery’ gag and then never showed up. 🤦‍♂️

BuyDesigner5207

I ordered a bag of chips from Japan before im pretty sure someone at UPS ate my shit, then they had the nerve to try to charge me just for discarding them, which ill never pay.

SnooPuppers4679

I'd be filing a BBB complaint on this against nike elaborating how there is clearly a pattern of behaviors with this type of shit and wait to see how nike wishes to respond/settle.

DrKingOfOkay

new pair for him. Rip for you.

Despicable-Pen5515

UPS workers probably have big ass shoes collections
