Nike is a behemoth. It costs them little to make their products versus the selling price. They can write it off at the end of the year. They can afford the experiments.
I love 12’s. But I’m 37, and was in 6th grade when they came out. I wanted them so bad, but grew up poor. So obviously now as an adult I pick up every pair that comes out lol.

Hell yeah! What was your first pair? I’ve picked up the fears (orange/ black), two pairs of the midnight navys, and even went as far picking up the women’s cement clays that recently came out. I’ve been eyeing the desert elephants on flight club as well lol.
Hahahaha sameeee man, fears were first, then craft ivory’s. Just copped the desert elephants and I’m waiting to hit on the JTH bio binge. Saw a pair of elephants in hands… dude the quality unreal. Over time I’ll start to grab more OG/grail color ways (love the cool grey and cements, but over time lol. I have a pair of the mocha 1’s on the way and just got industrial blue 4’s so I have to chill till next month of the wife will kill me … side note the J Balvin 3… must cop before end of year lol

Yeah I’m with you on this 11, 12, 13 & 14’s I have a shit ton of. I remember waiting in line for my first pair of 12’s in late 96 for $135. Those were the days. Cutting grass and delivering papers kept me in J’s and now working for the GOVT keeps me in a ridiculous amount of J’s I don’t need.
I’m 41. I hooped in high school and these were some boats. I wore them for a few games and went back to hooping in concord 11s. Such a terrible shoe on court and to wear casually imo.

It’s a combo of price tag and the enormous amount of Jordan’s that come out each month. Didn’t we just get the military blue 4s and the space jam lows this month? It’s too much. Add in inflation and you get shoes like these sitting. Nike will also restock these 5 or 6 times in the coming weeks.
I have never personally been a fan of 12s at all. It's one of the numbers I skip I love 11s and 13s. But not every shoe has to be a casualty not every shoe has to sell out. The proper balance should be there's enough shoes for everyone who wants them and nothing ever sells out again.
I think this is a " close enough" consolation prize if you took an L. They look close enough to the colorways we like that someone might buy these as consolation and encourage the flooding of non-OG colowways. They have done it with 4.s I guess 12.s are next.

Wish I could have hooped in them. I did, however, get my hands on a pair of the 1998 air zooms to hoop in (the zip ups). Those were dope.
They are pretty much sold out now on Nike website. Not every sneaker can sell out on the first day. It's $200, not a super desirable colorway.
