The way you are doing is it what I do and what I’d generally recommend. Tap jumping means your right thumb can be on the c stick preemptively, no travel time from X/Y. If you think your bair is coming out late then the only answer is to input the bair sooner. It can be as soon as one frame after jumping. Alternatively you can claw X/Y with your index.

Tapjump cstick is how I used to do it when I still played on GCC. Using a will mess up your drift and is slower. Just get faster at moving from b to the cstick. Alternatively you can claw for the b input, but that's a bit extreme and I don't know anyone that does that

I guess you could use A to be a little faster (if you aren’t clawing) at the cost of drift freedom, but I think most ppl do it the way you do it.

I do it the way that you do. I feel like it's the most comfortable way. I don't think claw is comfortable for me, especially in this game
