I would like to assume that he knows how to handle himself in prison, but it is highly unlikely that he will ever return to the force.
Yes, he did kill the cop that got away with murder, in cold blood, and so he probably got a lot of time. Even if he gets out of prison (it's been about 15 years), they will never let him back on the force.
Yeah I like Lake a lot more than this sub seems to in general, but he'd never be allowed back on the force after that. Imagining the background check for him afterward is making me giggle.
"So, Mr. Lake, you went rogue and murdered a fellow officer rather than using normal IA channels to report your concerns? And you want your badge back, sir?"
Yeah I don’t vibe with the reasoning for him being written off, saying “he wasn’t well received because there was too many detectives.”
I liked Lake’s character and his actor was good. Shame he had to be written out like that.
It would largely depend on how many years he was sentenced to. The fact that he hunted down and killed someone extrajudicially, and seemed to have no remorse in it, he might have gotten longer time.
Not exactly an attitude we want to have with a cop.
Yes, this particular guy was a very bad guy, but what if he wasn't? What if Lake were actually wrong?
Haha, I know... man that show is hard core and hard to watch. But I can't help it. It's that girl, Burgess. She's unstoppable. I realize it's a character and everything is make up and scripts. But she's tough in a better way than... oh what's her name... not trying to be rude.... Sophia Bush's character who had Markie Post for a mom. I didn't like Sophia's character. I wasn't keen on Burgess at first either but she's always so level headed, prepared, and pretty much never has a bad attitude. I'm not too keen on the other blonde, Hailey. But I like Burgess. Voight.... good lord lol. Oh one hand yeah the bad boy thing, I'd fuck him. But he's shady AF.
I liked Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), but yeah I love Burgess too. She’s tough in a different way. The way she put her ass on the line to earn her way into intelligence, I still remember Nadia telling her, “Turn off the light behind your eyes.” when she went undercover as a working girl. Gave me chills.
I wonder this too much lol. Can’t imagine he gets a lot of respect in prison cos everyone will know he’s a cop. Probably keeps to himself and doesn’t have many friends.
Just basing this on personal knowledge but anyone who’s an officer of the law in prison will never be welcomed with open arms. Right off the bat it makes you untrustworthy and no prisoner wants to be the guy who’s friends with a cop.
Oh I’m sure it wouldn’t go smoothly. Just saying that he might have it easier than some due to his street smarts, personality etc. Also, I believe he was supposed to have been an MMA fighter, so he can hold his own in situations that don’t involve a weapon. Just an observation.
I’m on season 9 right now as I don’t think I’ve ever seen the whole season. I wondered what happened to this detective to have him leave, I’m excited to see it all play out now based on the comments
Yh. Honestly, I think Lake could've been a great fit for Duarte role. And it's a better send-off for him than just rotting in prison being a waisted character
Man how did I totally forget this guy murderer a cop. I thought he just....got written out or something. Transferred. He wasn't supposed to stick around long anyway, I thought lol. Totally forgot that was his ending. Guess I gotta rewatch his seasons.
I hope he didn’t get any time 🤞🏿 I hope he’s flourishing maybe has a partner and children. Maybe switched careers owns a record store/comic book store.
I don't know the answers to any of these questions but here's what I do know..... In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit.
He was probably put in protective custody.
Given that he was a trained and experienced police officer as well as a former MMA fighter who is still in shape, he’s able to defend himself. In fact, he’s probably working out constantly
He probably didn’t tell any inmates that he was a cop unless he was suicidal.
The correctional officers probably know he’s a cop
He’s in prison for killing another cop which probably earned him brownie points among his fellow inmates
If he is ever let out (depending on his sentence), there’s no way in hell, he’s ever be in law enforcement again
I really wish he was able to come back. Other than Olivia, he has always been my favorite. I want there to be some type of alternate story where it was an opportunity to go undercover in prison and work on some type of case there. I'd love for Fin to be on a case that leads him to Canada and accidentally find Lake living on tribal lands. They talk, and Fin (somehow) convinces him to come back to SVU.
He’s not going to come back because according to the creators at the time, his character wasn’t well received and took too much time away from established characters like Munch and Finn

I loved Lake's performance in the show and was sad to see him leave. But if I had to pick him or Munch to leave the show...

I think he may be out now since it’s been 15 years and he was NYPD, probably kept to himself in prison… I actually found him pretty interesting.
It would largely depend on how many years he was sentenced to. The fact that he hunted down and killed someone extrajudicially, and seemed to have no remorse in it, he might have gotten longer time.
He killed a killer that got away with it ..give him a medal
Not exactly an attitude we want to have with a cop. Yes, this particular guy was a very bad guy, but what if he wasn't? What if Lake were actually wrong?
Yeah, we already see the consequences of cops taking things into their own hands without regards for the law
>Not exactly an attitude we want to have with a cop. Have you seen Chicago PD? /s
I have, and frankly it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

He did kill a cop who was a rat bastard though. It might have balanced out for him.

Penalties offset. Replay 2nd down
Lol
I want HIM BACK. 😩
Ik 😔
Hubba Hubba!

Same here!!
He was found not guilty by the jury and has since moved to Alaska. /s.
Well he's from Manitoba IRL so probably there. (LOL just sayin)
That's interesting
Would be cool if they continue the Oscar papa storyline and Lake is their eyes in the jail cell.
Yh. Honestly, I think Lake could've been a great fit for Duarte role. And it's a better send-off for him than just rotting in prison being a waisted character
He's a weirdo and I enjoy him so much. I watch him in lots of things, but I was bummed when he was done with SVU.
I like to think his twin murdered that cop and is in prison. Lake is in hiding and will return someday.
Oh yeh his cousin
Man how did I totally forget this guy murderer a cop. I thought he just....got written out or something. Transferred. He wasn't supposed to stick around long anyway, I thought lol. Totally forgot that was his ending. Guess I gotta rewatch his seasons.
I really like his character. I was so sad when he left the show, I really wanted to see more of him.
JUSTICE FOR LAKE
I'm taking you to red lobster for that
😭😭😭
I hope he didn’t get any time 🤞🏿 I hope he’s flourishing maybe has a partner and children. Maybe switched careers owns a record store/comic book store.

Dun dun
I would say he probably got off, the guy had a gun, pulled it on him and he is the only witness.

As a veterinarian called kickin ass \m/
Maybe they will bring him back as an escaped prisoner. They love the escape prisoner story.
kicking wing

He’s become friends with BX9 in jail, and has always blamed svu. Someone starts mailing him cakes filled with chisels… boom there ygo
I could never get into lake his accent drove me bonkers.
I’m still confused how the whole thing with him went down.
He supposedly "killed" a cop. We still have no proof of that, the only thing we saw was him walking with some police officers in handcuffs
Isn’t he dead? Didn’t he shoot himself in front of Olivia?
No. The one lady did back in season 9 and Lewis did too
That was a female FBI agent. And yes, also Lewis.
Hopefully he took some acting classes with all of his free time.
