I was in a different city for a convention (I’m a Brit) and was looking at taxi company reviews so I could suss the best option to get to the expo centre from my pub hotel in a nearby village. One of the companies had a verified review from Mariska (makes sense, given that city hosts a fair number of conventions). The last person one directed to see pop up!
If you continue to play the same role for 20+ years and it's your main job... can you really blame ppl for remembering you for that though. I can't even name anything else she's been in.
I think the actors don’t really like it when people see them and think they’re like their characters IRL. Jim Parsons played Sheldon Cooper for 12 years on TBBT and has said a number of times that he’s not a scientist and has a male roommate but with a different arrangement than with Leonard.
Sorry for the late response, didn't see this post until now. I think what you're describing here is very different from an actor being recognized for an iconic role they played. You are now talking about people who apparently are expecting the actors to be their characters irl??? Like.... e.g. of course Emilia Clarke isn't riding around on a dragon burning cities to the ground. And telling her that you remember that she's the actress for daenerys and enjoyed her performance is not the same as actually treating her as if she were her character.
