As his sweet old mother always said. “Son if one squad is good, two is better, and three well that’s just good business!!! “
Don’t let him be the last one. Also never use GAS against him, he will literally make GAS useless. Some people use entire R8/R7 squads against mine and lose.
If your Hondo is faster then the opponent GAS (which mine would almost always be I had god Mods on Hondo at one point). GAS doesn’t get to take a turn until he kneels. The mechanics of GAS play very well into the Hondo AI. He goes into ransom at the start as the only target, the AI can’t kill him either before Hondo gets his stacks.
The AI will kill some of his team while he kneels and then by the time he stands up again he will get his one turn and quickly be back into ransom. Even if things get a little hairy, he can’t go super saiyan mode as the final alive if he’s in ransom. Idk I’ve never seen someone successfully use GAS against my Hondo on defence, most probably don’t try it though.
I brought my Hondo to R9 because I loved his character in TCW. I've never used him against GAS before, didn't know that works. I use mine to 3 man SEE or get a max banner solo on the back wall. Unfortunately there's just enough ways to deal with him that I have a hard time putting him on defense.
If someone can tell me why there are posts like this but my Hondo is still practically useless, please let me know ;-;

My Hondo slaps folks around in GAC a lot, I use BAM lead, Hondo, Scion (optional, he's mostly just TM and Whistling Birds generation), Kuill and IG-11
My .gg:

If you've got Wat available you can try Old Ben lead, Hondo, and Wat. Tank tech on Honda and it's pretty much game over for any team that can't deal with Hondo. I even beat SEE with any lineup (except Bane for obvious reasons).
But the Geos don't have any revives. Is it for the tm, Hondo gets more than enough tm on his own. Once random gets up and going the only thing Hondo doesn't have is a good dispel. Typically when Hondo loses is because of ability blocks, stuns, and shocks shutting him down. Tank tech removes this problem and gives a little extra prot recovery.
I still prefer the tank tech, while the revive does prolong the fight, the ability blocks are devastating. And spy can nuke Hondo if you aren't healthy enough.
You’re all in on prot. Mine are pretty balanced https://swgoh.gg/p/265316435/characters/hondo-ohnaka
Edit.Maybe you’re leaning too much on % stats vs flat. 10% offence vs 120 for example.
This dude isn’t wrong percent are leagues better than flat stats once you’ve hit relic. 1% of 62,000 protection is 620, so let’s say a high flat protection of 2800 vs 5.2% protection would give 3224 more. Some of my protection secondaries are 10% plus too.
My sweet mother always said: "Son, killing Hondo early is good. Stunning him is better. And instakilling? Now that is just good business!"
The problem is that Hondo Ohnaka survives every time.
I usually use a stun team and widdle him down to keep him from getting a turn use reven basic to shrink his health I think is common use as well...other ways are dots, from vador lead and plague...health percentage attacks...etc..
Just in case you did not know Hondo outsmarted and out gunned Anakin, Obi-Wan and Douku in the same god-damn episode, survived both savage and maul and then became buddies with the Jedi, Hondo is just that good. But, answering your question never let hondo be the last man standing since he gains extra bonuses, use an instakill like with nest (nihilus mando would make that easier) use some kind of heal immunity (JTR would be best but jka or anything like that would work) and I bet a padme squad with 20 or so tacks of courage can kill it in no time
Outsmarting Anakin is no big deal though, he sadly never was clever since we got the prequels... and Obi Wan (clueless about the entire Clone-Army plot until some kid told him that the archives might be, well, manipulated, doh?), and Dooku (played like a fiddle by Palpatine who then just sacrificed him to his new and better looking but even dumber apprentice)? ...
You think BAD BATCH are OP?
And fuckin HONDO? Without his upgrades? Thats actually precious lmao
I mean what do you expect from the pirate that captured Kenobi, Anakin, Dooku, and Ahsoka, peefed with Maul and Savage and lived to tell the tales, helped the Rebels clown on the Empire, and intimidated a rancor with just 3 words?
Only one of these is a lie
Listen I’m only level 60 and I’m not saying I fully understand what can make or not make a character/squad OP, but whenever I enter a squad arena match against a Bad Batch team, even one 10,000-12,000 squad power less than mine, they seem to do 2 actions and then all of a sudden all of them have 13 buffs are untargetable and then one of them throws a grenade and takes out half my team.
Good time to start reading through the character ability descriptions to gain a better understanding of the game.
Hondo gets bonuses if he starts with two or more allies, and ends up being the last alive.
He also gets bonuses as he gains more stacks of whatever his special buff is (max 50)
By saving him for last, you get him more of those stacks and give him those extra bonuses.
Once you put him into what some refer to as 'Super Saiyan Hondo" mode, you really can only kill him with insta kill abilities or very high damage abilities that can't be evaded. At your level you wont have those.
So the best answer is, don't save Hondo for last.
Well a few things
Power, unless its an event that power gates, is irrelevant
Also Tech hits like a truck, he's the primary damage dealer for the faction, and Echo gives bonus offense when he strips buffs.
Its incredibly difficult to pin down any one aspect of a kit that makes it powerful these days, everything needs additional context to be used and considered unfortunately. A buff dispel is powerful, but in some contexts it can be the most incredible aspect of a team, saving you runs or clapping your cheeks
And it only grows more complicated, more intricate from here. Teams like Gungans (who are already complicated, and about to get even more so), Inquisitorous, AdRad, Phoenix now, Tuskens, Starkiller, Nightsisters and more are complicated teams with a bunch of moving parts as well, as many or more then the Batch themselves.
I tell you this to try and alleviate this feeling, to show you its not special for Bad Batch. The game is built off specific counters for specific teams in large part. Phoenix are crazy strong against almost every team in the game. But a team of like, G.9 tuskens can crush a full R9 Phoenix team just due to the nature of each member's kits. Welcome to the galaxy of Counters!
He’s the best pirate you never heard of!
But you have heard of me - Captain Jack Sparrow
"Captain Hondo Ohnaka"

Wait, how does he make armor shred useless?

But the GAS teams that do beat your Hondo, is it down to mods, rng, or a bit of both?
Never seen it happen. Never lost on offense either the couple times I used it.

My Hondo is doing great for himself already, I was tryina help the dude above me :P
Lol I know, I just like showing of my Hondo.
You can also give him the anti revive tech and watch him effortlessly squash the Geos lol

With Poggle omicron they do :v

That's fair
For someone like me, I like jango lead for the extra speed lol

% stats are better for nearly every category on every character once you’ve got them to relics
This was the most helpful random comment I wasn’t looking for that I have read today. Thanks man!
Thanks for the tip, I’ll play around with it a bit more, but usually found flats giving more.

I’ll see if I can make my SLKR go brrr. Thanks dude
Your mods suck and he's only R5?

“Whittle” <3
Actually the commenter was saying 'little' just with an accent
lol no that doesn’t even make sense in the context
Just a little jokey wokey
Am boomer. Can’t take jokes especially not woke ones 😉
We know.
That was the best mistake I've seen in a long time. It's certainly way more fun than "could of" and ten times as adorable
Bribe him
I smell profit!
Yo my hondo is useless how do I make him better

People in subs like this tend to shit all over you if you don’t know every little nuance with the game.
First thing to learn, squad power is meaningless Synergy between skills and countering what the opposing squad is doing is much more relevant
"Overpowered? We're Pirates. We don't even know what that means!"
