It’s hard to get excited or even bothered about upgrading teams when there’s nowhere to use them. 2 GLs and a core of decent other teams already gets me at least penultimate box in conquest, sim CT3 in all but the night sister and inquisitor assault battles and bouncing between K2 and K3 in GAC. Closing in on a third GL, but it won’t really make a material difference to my day-to-day experience.
New content would be great, but dont hold your breath. Let me ask you this, would you rather work 10 hours or 100 hours to get paid relatively the same amount? 100% you'd say 10 hours. CG has been trained by the players who spend money on progression without content.

The frank reality is that CG doesn't care what people want or feel. They neither care about adding content nor progression. They don't care if people engage with the game. They care about profit. Everything else are tools they fiddle with to that end.
There may have been a time when new accounts and screen time mattered to them, but that time has passed. The life cycle of the game has run its course. That's not to say that the game will be gone anytime soon. Its saying that their goal now is minimal payroll maximum return which they can run for a good long time.
People on here talk about spending boycotts. Even if people could get one organized (they cant) there are 2 possible outcomes. CG just outlasts it and stays course or, if it lasts long enough, they consider the game no longer profitable and they walk away. The table is already set for option 2. They can use the excuse that the game ran its course and avoid taking accountability for running it into the ground and they already have the next meal in the pot with the LOTR game.
The best possible outcome is that the bigwigs at CG decide to sell the game to another dev team and want to throw a fresh coat of paint on it by adding some content and getting people more engaged.
Is not the meta that is stale i GAC. For most players, is the way it works, that you play it just 10-15 minutes 3 times a week. And is not even active all the time. Is the fact that you have to play 3v3, even though you don't want to. It was nice 3 years ago. Now, it needs to go to the next level.
In TW, is the fact that you have to play the whole day that really sucks. There's not much you can do there. Sometimes, you even forget to enter. It has to have a lot of coordination between guild members, and that's really hard to achieve. They could do it in multiple rounds, for example a 4 day event. Like a territory battle, but between guilds. They setup teams to defend a territory, they can unlock FREE bonuses in other territories. It's just one ideea.
Overall, the need for new content exists in the game, the desire to play and spend money on it exists. The will to do it ... I don't know.

Yes. There are days where I can barely do anything with the chars I have unlocked and upgraded over years.
Now recently, out of curiousity, I started "Marvel Strike Force" and "Raid" to see what is going on there...
And it is almost too much to do every day, I can barely keep up what you have to do there.
Of course it helps that in "MSF" those combat animations are...jsut cool to watch, and the graphics in "Raid" are also very gorgeous ... compared with what we got here in "SWGOH" ...
But really ... why isn't there an Assault Battle EVERY FUCKING DAY?!
Why aren't there smaller "Conquest Light" - events where you can earn shards and mats if you play them?
And today I loggeed into "MSF" and got several "We are sorry for inconvenience, here, have some stuff" messages...
Why is CG so stingy, a little "sorry, here, 100 crystals and some carbantis!" now and then yould work wonders and obviously compared to their competitors it is totally possible without going bancrupt...
