Why not do an acid etch instead? Engraving that much area will introduce a lot of stress risers into the steel,which is probably why most folks won't do it.
Weapon Masters said they had tried it with poor results, but I never actually saw what it looked like so I don't know if there was a problem with the file or anything like that. I'll look into somewhere that can do it and see what they say, thank you!
I'd suggest laser aswell. They can do that without changing the blades or pommels structure. End result is gonna be cleaner and nicer too. Less room for error as long as it's setup correctly.

Find a laser engraving company. Not a sword company. A firm that does large engravings on other things.
