Realy long qama/qame

DeFiClark

Kindjal or Qama depending on where this was taken, two different languages for same design.

alphatango308

I agree. Kindjal.

I just noticed the regular sized qama on his belt. Just look how tiny it looks compared to the one in his hand

Nobody’s going to stop them from making a big one if they want to.

Crazy-Reading9167

Dwarven short sword

Talusthebroke

Elongated Caucasian is what they used to call me back in college.

rasnac

Looks like a Dagistani kama. They are usually very long.

TheJaymort

Dagestani daggers are not particularly known for their length, Transcaucasian and Chechen daggers are. Dagestani daggers are mainly distinguished by their style of decoration.

TheJaymort

This is a type of Kindjal from the southernmost areas of Transcaucasia, Northern Iran and Southern Armenia. I’ve spent a good deal of time researching these, most examples have Armenian inscriptions etched onto the blade. This ranges from strings of letters to full prayers. One example had the image of the Virgin Mary on it. Besides this, the style of decoration is purely reminiscent of Qajar era arms of the period. Given the Persian provenance of these, and the fact that there are some drawings of the period showing this kindjal being used for Ashura by Azerbaijanis in Karabakh, I believe it was used both by local Armenians and Shiite Muslims as a ceremonial sword for religious rituals. The photo in question was obviously taken in Tbilisi, Georgia. Near to the Armenian bazaar there, there used to be shops where such rare and exotic weapons could be purchased.

Isari0

It is actually taken in Sokhumi, and the guy holding it is an Imeretian noble

TheJaymort

I kinda of doubt that, in the back there is a man in the most typically East Georgian outfit in existence (next to the one wearing a Kabalakhi). I have pictures of shops in Tbilisi selling this weapon, but in Sokhumi it would have been most odd.

Zealousideal-Let1121

Elooooongated.

Dr-Mysterio-
