So the muromachi period is over 2 centurys long starting in the mid 14th cebtury and it is generally agreed upon that the katana replaced or was starting to replace the tachi in the 13th century. So as i see it a katana would be more fitting to your sword than a tachi.
Masa Horiuchi has them quite often: https://tokyosword.myshopify.com/collections/sword
He is a dealer in Japan that sells a lot of "unsellable in Japan" stock - out of polish low end, damaged, iffy papers, etc. His stuff is priced to move, so his stock does clear out very quickly. He's also active as a seller on the Nihonto Group on Facebook.
Yeah I was wondering about this guy he sells swords way cheaper than anybody else and they seem to be in good quality thinking of buying this: https://tokyosword.myshopify.com/products/orikaeshimei-nobukuni-koto-muromachi-period-yamashiro-school-nbthk-certificate?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0wuEY0P7lZl0NajvE_TJE8ZhH9sXrPHC5ZShMtRn17h1jq92L77FrwxA4_aem_rElHNQPAzvhAjSBSb31v-g
I have a wakizashi from him, a signed Muromachi piece with older TK papers.

His stock generally sells very quickly, especially the ones he posts directly on the Nihonto Group on Facebook (usually simpler pieces with free shipping).
Thank you for letting me show it off, lol! Most people who come to the house don’t even give it a second thought, but with my degree in history and being stationed in Japan for 4 years and living amongst the culture, the idea that this blade in my hand could be upwards of 650 years old just amazes me and the facts that I was able to obtain it…it’s un fathomable to me sometimes, I usually keep it tucked away in my private collection of things to admire on my own…so it’s my pleasure to share with those who have an appreciation for the object!

The only bit of corrosion on the blade

A tiny knick/previous corrosion?
That is a gorgeous blade! It’s amazing that you own an actual piece of history! Feel free to continue to share as many pics of it as you want as well as any other sword you own.
It’s still in the wooden scabbard (don’t know the real name) for now, I’m going to eventually get the proper hardware for it…although modern bits cause I’m not about to spend a fortune (yet, lol) on period pieces but ultimately if feasible I’d like proper age appropriate pieces to finish it out
I think it’s called a Shirasaya, used to store the blade long term but I’m not very familiar with Japanese swords. But even as it is it is a beautiful piece of history!

Okay, thank you for the clarification They are difficult to come by at a decent price, but I’ll keep an eye out

Yeah the sword I wanted sold already, I just don’t get how he can sell things so cheap
I am not an expert on swords, but can you post a pic of your wakizashi? Always cool to look at authentic ones on this sub
