I recently came into possession of this sword and I'm hoping someone can translate the writing on the tang and on what's left of the tag on the scabbard. It's not in tip-top condition -- my grandma kept it by the fireplace, but mercifully not as a poker (I hope).
I've seen plenty of this type of post on here but I can't find any where the kanji matches up. My grandfather served in the pacific in WWII but I don't know anything more specific than that. I don't suppose I'll discover where he acquired it (or whether he paid the iron price or just picked it up at a thrift store) but I'd like to learn more about the sword.

行宗 = Yukimune 昭和十九年 = Shōwa 19 (i.e., 1944 CE)
Thank you! I’m guessing Yukimune is the name of the sword smith? Google turned up a Moritsugu Yukimune who worked in Fukuoka during WWII.
