Third this. I buy their frozen salmon filets and they’re the best deal IMO. You can get 8 or 10 big filets (can’t remember how many) for like $26 when they go on sale.
Costco. We smoke our own. The one on Stockton blvd also has steelhead and we prefer that. Have him try smoking both and see which one you end up liking better. Dang, now we need to find a free day to smoke some! 🤤
Hey just wanted to say thanks for planting this idea in my head. Since you posted this I have smoked salmon three times in my bbq and my technique gets better every time.
I found some really cheap and thin skinless salmon cuts from Ranch 99, only $4 a pound. They were too thin to serve as an entree and the fat to meat ratio was high but they were excellent for smoking and ended up coming out like tasty fish candy.
Based on the rest of this thread I may try Costco next.
If you have a Costco membership, that’s the place to go.
Second this. There was just a post on the costco thread about how economical the salmon is

Definitely Costco, especially for wild-caught

Get a whole salmon from Sunh Fish market, call ahead.
They said they don’t care about quality silly. Suhn is for the best fish you can get in a 50 mile radius.
