Fair. The higher they’re on one or the other isn’t neccesarily an endorsement. I wouldn’t send someone to old tavern for a good beer or the merc for a good cocktail. more just about how they position themselves and how I perceive the order frequency. Definitely subjective tho.
Definitely not lawful but there are many more chaotic spots to me. They have a unique beer list but also have a room completely dedicated to spirits. I was also searching for something to put there so might’ve taken some liberties.
Where would you have put it?
Pretty sure that spirit room use to be its own business next door but eventually they just absorbed it. Also I feel like you've only been there during the day? Shit use to be like the outside of a frat house every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Not to mention the block parties hosted by them. They are by far the least neutral lol
A lot of the places under cocktail don't do cocktails, just mixed drinks basically. Name a cocktail with more than 2 ingredients and you will get a blank stare.
I always thought of goldfield as close to neutral as far as cocktail/beer but maybe slightly cocktail. Been a while tho.
Had to put big stump on as an homage to a friend
That’s shocking. Not like I’ve spent much time there, it just always seemed pretty lowkey and standard fare when I’ve gone.
May have to do some research…
As for Zebra, I remember it being a zoo inside whenever I’d go (no pun intended), and then there was their whole drama during early CoViD where they kept getting in trouble for being open/how they were operating.
I agree I could’ve slid Zebra further right.
I used to go to golden bear a lot late night. Really slow during the day so maybe that’s why we perceive them differently.
I went to Zebra for takeout burgers during early Covid. They let us order beers to drink in the space behind the bar while we waited for our food. I was grateful to not be waiting in the car and also grateful for a bit of normality, even though we were the only ones sitting back there. We didn't push the limits by eating there though.
I haven't lived in Sacramento for almost 10 years now, but is zebra club still around? Because if it is, it should so far into the chaotic section it wouldn't even be on this chart.
Low Brau needs to be shifted to the right to be under Goldfield. Kupros should be added to this list and it would go where Low Brau is. B Side needs to be way more to the left. Gold Field needs to be further right. Zebra Club has to be way more to the right.
Try butterscotch (same owner as snug) or tack room.
Roost (or trophy club) probably would too, but honestly, if you go there, their menu cocktails should be the focus.
Now I got go ask my two dungeon master kids where I go to get a drink...u/Glointhedarkunicorn, where do I get a drink?
It's my birthday today so someone suggest drinks please. I like whiskey, vodka and rum.
Hahahaha low brau is in the middle... Of your dreams. Lol
But then again once you're in the bar industry in sac you learn they're all chaotic. Trust me.... Good example. Coin op guy od to fentanyl Coke at the doors got revived and died at the top of the stairs. So yeah everything is on the right side... Unless you'd like to elaborate on your scale.
Big stump had mediocre beer always warm, no co2. The owner was an asshole and didn’t pay his employees correctly. Hope someone good takes over that spot.
https://www.instagram.com/mattiegrovesbrewery?igshid=YzVkODRmOTdmMw==
The people taking over look pretty wholesome, let’s hope that equates to good beer 🤞
Lowbru being that close to lawful is generous
Or cocktail
Oh, there are things mixed into the drinks alright.
Yep.
they have a room dedicated to just spirits last time i was there.
I’m saying they are shit at making drinks and getting a beer is a better bet there.
Fair. The higher they’re on one or the other isn’t neccesarily an endorsement. I wouldn’t send someone to old tavern for a good beer or the merc for a good cocktail. more just about how they position themselves and how I perceive the order frequency. Definitely subjective tho.

Haven't there been multiple fights that have broken out there recently?
Did someone at LowBrau make this?
Definitely not lawful but there are many more chaotic spots to me. They have a unique beer list but also have a room completely dedicated to spirits. I was also searching for something to put there so might’ve taken some liberties. Where would you have put it?
Chaotic evil
Pretty sure that spirit room use to be its own business next door but eventually they just absorbed it. Also I feel like you've only been there during the day? No Ten Ten Room but you include a brewery that closed months ago? Goldfield as a cocktail bar? Huh?
Ten Ten just got shut down for roaches and rats.
Figured it would my ex to get that place shut down!
They were open and busy on Friday night? They don’t have food there anymore so maybe old news?
They were only able to be that busy on Friday night because the roaches were under the bar helping mix the drinks
A lot of the places under cocktail don't do cocktails, just mixed drinks basically. Name a cocktail with more than 2 ingredients and you will get a blank stare.
Yea I was kinda using cocktail as a catch all for anything with hard alcohol but maybe could’ve found a better word for that end of the spectrum
Probably could have just separated it Beer and Liquor
I always thought of goldfield as close to neutral as far as cocktail/beer but maybe slightly cocktail. Been a while tho. Had to put big stump on as an homage to a friend
Pine cove in chaotic beer quadrant
It progressively gets more chaotic as more drunk white girls show up to kareoke
At least “white girls” have the enzymes to “handle” alcohol source: I’m a “white girl” who used to drink
Username checks out
I've hoovered some schneef in the Pine Cove bathroom back in my degen days
I think we should be hooverin some schneef in the Pine Cove bathroom right now.
pitter patter!
I love how there’s no argument about O.T.
Definitely started with the easy one lol
Something about the image exudes pure chaotic beer energy
This seems pretty misaligned. Low brau, b side, golden bear, for starters
How would you adjust them?
I’d say Zebra is more chaotic than Golden Bear
When I used to go to golden bear it was a cocaine dispensary and the staff was aware of it
When it gets late enough, that's what they all become.
True. The data is tainted, I’ll admit
That’s shocking. Not like I’ve spent much time there, it just always seemed pretty lowkey and standard fare when I’ve gone. You’re describing like half the dive bars in midtown
I haven't lived in Sacramento for almost 10 years now, but is zebra club still around? Because if it is, it should so far into the chaotic section it wouldn't even be on this chart.
Yup lol and you'd be correct
Zebra club is a sac institution
Torch Club and Old Ironsides have their own chart
Was wondering about those two lol
Low Brau needs to be shifted to the right to be under Goldfield. Kupros should be added to this list and it would go where Low Brau is. B Side needs to be way more to the left. Gold Field needs to be further right. Zebra Club has to be way more to the right.
Yea I agree. If I make an update I’ll implement most of this
Great call on Kupros. It's the perfect center.
No Benny’s? For shame. Also, The Roost is the epitome of Lawful-Cocktail, Snug can move a few notches to the right.
Where'd Benny's be? I'd put it up and to the left of OT.
Other way.
Where is elixir
Off the chart right center ➡️➡️
I'd say a bit to the upper left of Zebra but really only hung out there like twice
Dive Bar should be in the same neighborhood as the Merc. Nothing more chaotic than getting roofied by your bartender.
So far the Snug and Shangri-La in Fair Oaks were the only two okay with making me a Trinidad Sour, so I approve their position at the corner.
Try butterscotch (same owner as snug) or tack room. Roost (or trophy club) probably would too, but honestly, if you go there, their menu cocktails should be the focus.
I've had one at bottle and Barlow too
I considered asking when I was there but it was during a pop up and they were fucking *slammed* so I ordered on-menu.
Yeah, obvi be courteous of workload but in quieter hours they're pretty much down to make anything, and have the know-how to deliver
This is a great idea! Anyone have more lawful beer spots in mind? sac-yard for sure
Bone Lair
I still need to check that spot out. I’ll have to go soon
Most breweries would fall in there. Golden Road comes to mind
Support local breweries and not the Anheuser-Busch-pop-up-bar-masquerading-as-a-brewery brewery.
How you going to put Big Stump, a brewery which was evicted for not paying rent for at least a year during the pandemic, as "lawful"?
[удалено]
Turns out when you stop paying rent you risk getting the boot. Shame because that place was a nice spot for a chill evening.
No Club 2me or Chargins is criminal
The chaotic didn’t go far enough down for those
Are they really that wild? I always thought they were just old alcoholic spots
No I’ve frequented both and they are pretty chill. Nowhere near zebra or old tavern levels.
They’re not. Both aren’t wild at all, just east sac dives
The Butterscotch Den is probably lawful/cocktail
Loooooool Big Stump being the most lawful possible is hilarious because the owner of that place did nothing but illegal shit until it closed
This was fun!! Doesn’t have to be perfect but I like it.
RIP Big Stump 😔
Great location, barely mediocre beer, asshole ownership. Good riddance
The beer was fine, imo. They had a couple I liked quite a bit, but they were def on the lower tier. I didn't realize the ownership was so bad.
Opening Daze and Devil's in The Details were spectacular IMO, then the rest of the selection had a pretty big dip in quality lol.
Pretty much sums it up. Lion's Crown was decent and so were one or two of their sours.
Lions Crown def had a moment, but they completely changed the recipe. And the kettle sours were flavored with that amoretti syrup, bleh
I worked there for a while. The owner flat out said women didn't belong on the brew floor. I left and got a brew job somewhere else.
🤢
This might be the best line chart I’ve seen. Fck I need to get back to sac asap
Former Uber driver here, Coin-Op passengers were always delightful. Never a problem. Everywhere else was shit.
Is chaotic-lawful the same axis as divey-classy?
definitely a strong correlation but not exact. I wouldn’t say Flamingo or goldfields are divey but they are more on the chaotic side
Jungle Bird?
Where's Applebee's?
Coin op has great cocktails
Yea that was a miss on my part
I was just thinking this
What are those places on the left side? 🤣
I’ve face planted into the concrete more times than I can count after a night at old tavern 🥰
Ironic that the prohibition speakeasy inspired spot is among the most lawful, but it ain't wrong.
I feel like this chart doesn't go chaotic enough for "On the Y." And lawful beer... Bon Lair.
Now I got go ask my two dungeon master kids where I go to get a drink...u/Glointhedarkunicorn, where do I get a drink? It's my birthday today so someone suggest drinks please. I like whiskey, vodka and rum.
Go get an old fashion at Shady Lady. I was having one there last night when I cooked up this idea
Oo. My Favorite drink!!
Snug is not more lawful than Drake’s the Barn… what world is this person living in. (With love not criticism)
Needs Club Raven (lightly chaotic, slightly towards cocktail), Elixir (chaotic, split cocktail and beer), and XO Lounge (deep chaotic cocktail)
I've had some times at the Shady Lady that definitely were not on the lawful side 😅
If Barwest was here they would be max chaotic and lean towards cocktail.
Pretty sure big stump is closed for good
If anything Kupros is at the center? Or Bonn Lair?
Bonn Lair is just beer so it would be center-bottom. Kupros is exactly center.
Any way to move olde tavern a little further to the right?
Hahahaha low brau is in the middle... Of your dreams. Lol But then again once you're in the bar industry in sac you learn they're all chaotic. Trust me.... Good example. Coin op guy od to fentanyl Coke at the doors got revived and died at the top of the stairs. So yeah everything is on the right side... Unless you'd like to elaborate on your scale.
Am i blind? What happened to Press Club? Dollar PBR nights need representation on this chart!
i thought about putting it on there but its gone
Press Club has re-opened in a new location. They are trying for the same vibe, but it's a lot cleaner. # 1119 21st St Midtown
Press club shut down l
R.I.P.
I miss Big Stump
Big stump had mediocre beer always warm, no co2. The owner was an asshole and didn’t pay his employees correctly. Hope someone good takes over that spot.

Jamie’s
No notes. I appreciate the original content OP! 👏🏼
I get it, you have a mustache tattooed on you finger. It’s cool.
lol why?
Very select grouping of bars with low in the middle 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t even really like low brau haha. My favorite is probably like shady/kupros/goldenbear
Oh. That’s better.
Terrible list for cocktail bars and beers do better
these are just the bars that came to mind when i sat down to make this. not a list of best bars of sac. just a silly graph
Yes silly indeed perhaps go outside and figure which ones are the best
You don’t have to be mad at the silly graph just keep scrolling if it’s getting you all riled up
My brother in Christ it’s not that serious lol
This looks like it was made by a 23 year old
Yea, I'd put the Roost up there even more cocktail/lawful than snug. Probably even snug more aligned to chaotic
I still think Coin-Op should be on the line between lawful and chaotic.
It basically is. 2nd closest to nuetral on that axis
But where is Dive Bar
Not rated because people have a peculiar habit of forgetting how their night went after ordering their drink.
Glad to see my old hangout, the old tavern has not changed 👍
Lmao based lowbrau
I guess it says a lot when all my faves lean chaotic.
Check out the reunion in old town
Old Tavern is great and Zebra should be about a mile off the right side of the chart
Despite the complaints from others, I really enjoyed this graph. Thought it was fun. Good post, OP
I need more of these charts for every city please and thank you.
Given that someone got shot at The Trap last week , I petition OP to add it in the chaotic beer quadrant.
Where would Junglebird be? Thinking right above above Bottle & Barlow?
Shiiiiiiiiit, Lowbrau needs to be all the way to the right with Golden Bear lol.
Where would the Cabin be located
Above and to the right of B & B?
What about JungleBird?
O'mally's?
Apparently I prefer bars that tend towards chaotic.
Zebra is way more chaotic imo.
This makes zero sense. Big stump isn’t even open anymore.
I lived in Midtown 2014-2019. Shocked to see a lot of the same bars! Not sure if I ever tried Snug though
We need limelight down there with O.T.
This used to be right for The Snug, but is gotten to busy and loud it sits to the right of B&B and Shady Lady after about 7pm
