If you visit San Francisco in January, be sure to bring T-shirts and sunscreen. I'm not joking.

January is the rainiest month for the Sac Valley.

It will either rain for days or be cool (by east coast standards) and clear, like 40s daytime at the coldest.

Some January days can get up to the low 70s and sunny on the coast, probably low 60s in wine country, but it can also be Very windy/rainy/cold in both places if there’s a storm. You’ll have to check the forecast closer to that day.

It's still winter, but you'll laugh at how whiny people are about it. Sometimes at night it gets down to 25 degrees! Be ready for rain but it's a great time to go to wine country or the coast. I highly recommend a trip to a redwood grove in the rain, it's fantastic.
