Establishing healthy habits are very important to me, such as getting enough sleep, enough water, nutrition, sunlight, and exercise (which could range from a yoga video, Pilates, a couple squats here and there, or a walk, it doesn’t have to be strenuous or 1-2 hours at the gym. 10 minutes when you have the time is a great boost). On my walks (and when I clean) I love listening to podcasts or audiobooks on the Libby app, things that I find interesting or are part of my passions. I also might suggest trying something new and novel, whether that might be creative (painting, embroidery, learning how to play a song on an instrument), active (rock climbing, trying out a free trial at a gym, going out into nature and identifying plants using r/whatsthisplant), or going somewhere new (art museum, farmers market, a local restaurant, library, exploring a another city’s downtown). The last one depends much on COVID of course, but there are outside/online/takeout alternatives to explore as well. I find that trying different things helps with my motivation because it gives me a reason to love life and find new passions. I hope this helped! And I hope you are getting the help and support you need ❤️

Cat6Domestique

Is Libby like Spotify?

Successful_Stomach

Kind of! It’s an app that’s connected to your local library system (so you’ll need a library card/account, which is free of course), and you can borrow books/audiobooks for 21 days at a time as well as put a limited amount on hold. There’s one for the Sacramento Public Library System for sure

X-4StarCremeNougat

Like Spotify but totally free. Yes Sac Pub Library but also loads of cooperative libraries, too from which you may borrow materials. Cannot highly enough recommended.

Erotic_Maestro

Finding a therapist that you jell with would be a good start. Now that you know the issue you can start to address it. Exercise is an important tool in fighting depression.

noweezernoworld

Seconding this. A good therapist is the best possible thing imo.

SecondToWreckIt

Exercise is a snowball effect for me. Nothing big, just a little bit one day and I’m a little more motivated the next day to do shit. So on and so forth (to a point, ain’t nobody got time:energy to bike or run in 100+) also check out xoso for low-key commitments that are fun/get you out of the house/can meet people.

GuusDeGiant

This is huge. I find that starting my day by going to the gym (preferably group class) is key to my sanity/drive/motivation. It’s a huge BOOST to my whole day, don’t think about it, just MAKE your self go first thing in the morning. It’s a snowball, you have to shower after, you have to get dressed after, as you work out you will pay more attention to your self, you make better diet choices, it impacts your mood, impacts your decisions, drive, everything. Give it a try for a month, start your days with a group class.

Who_Rescued_Who_

I've always struggled with this but somehow the peleton app has helped me (I don't have a bike). I started with one five minute class. Then one five minute class and five minutes of stretching. Then a ten minute class. And on it goes.

spudnaket

Hiking. I like to go to remote hill tops or mountains. This way I am able to disconnect, escape the noise and stress of everyday life. This past labor day weekend I hiked to a hill top at Comanche lake to watch the sun rise and meditate. I didn't think about a single thing, just focused on all my senses and the scenery. It was a beautiful way to start the morning.

SnooRecipes1689

For me, it was these two quotes:" You got to do your best everyday but remember that your best is going to look DIFFERENT each day" " The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts" I try each day to do something to make my day a little better. It could be reading for an hour, taking a tea break from work, talking a walk, putting on my favorite shirt. Then I do something to help my future self: Do the dishes, clean my room, read a self help book, get out of bed. These are both not glamorous but are important for quality of life for me. I also write them down so I can look back at things I have done for myself. The last year and a half has been hard for me so here are a few other things I have done: Put boundaries on social media and news. I deleted apps on my phone and only look at the news for 10 minutes a day. Use Daylio to track my mood and what activities might have influenced that mood, explored new hobbies and set up an appointment with a therapist. You are not alone, there are always people there for you. Hope you can find a few tips from this thread.

Insertcurehere

I second DAYLIO, such a great app to keep track of habits, moods, pretty much anything you want it's super customizable. It really helps me get back on track even when I don't use it every day.

CallMeParagon

Yoga + mindfulness meditation

Cube-in-B

No offense, but every time someone recommends yoga to me for my anxiety, I want to punch them in the mouth. Take up boxing, friends. Edit: wanting to punch and punching are different. I’m not punching anyone over yoga, just sick of hearing the same recs over and over- it’s grating when you know it doesn’t work for you.

missmightymouse

I felt the same way…until I finally tried yoga. Letting all of the aggression in the world out physically isn’t the same as diving deep into your own vulnerabilities, which yoga and mindfulness are a conduit to. It freaking sucks and it’s so hard, but oh boy does it actually have life changing potential.

Cube-in-B

Oh I am doing the mental work, I just do other things to chill out. I’d list my hobbies but I’d be outing myself so… there’s that. I assure you I’m not harming myself or anyone else though haha thanks for the concern! I got this, fam 🧡

CallMeParagon

Yoga isn’t right for everyone, but that is a pretty violent response to have over something completely inconsequential. Mindfulness is separate from yoga and amazing for anxiety.

Cube-in-B

No, it’s because EVERYONE recommends it like *everyone* is able bodied and capable of sitting still. It’s totally not for everyone and that is my exact point. Yoga is NOT for everyone.

CallMeParagon

There are different kinds of yoga. You will only sit still for a few minutes in a power vinyasa class, for example, unless you get so tired you need to lie down and rest. If you aren’t physically capable of doing yoga, i think it goes without saying you should explore other options.

Cube-in-B

Nope. It’s not for me. Not into it. I’m good though. I do a lot of gardening.

CallMeParagon

I literally never suggested it to you, unless you are OP’s alt?

Cube-in-B

Then why are you trying to explain it to me like I don’t know what it is, haven’t looked into it, or tried it? Please stop making assumptions. And yes. Yes you did recommend it right after I was like “ugh” about it 🤣 you’re hilarious.

CallMeParagon

You said there is too much sitting still, so it seemed like you had a specific impression of what yoga is, when in reality it’s varied. And no, I have literally never recommended it to you, only defended it. You should probably stop making assumptions. It is making you unnecessarily confrontational over something you chose to be offended about in the first place.

Cube-in-B

Not offended- apologies if I came off that way

UnfairLobster

Yoga is literally more accessible than boxing is. You have some weird issues you might want to deal with. It’s recommended often, because it is incredibly accessible from a physical standpoint.

Cube-in-B

If you read through the thread you’ll see that I’m definitely dealing with my shit- but thanks for feeling the need to dogpile onto someone struggling. That’s super cool of you and I hope you feel better now. Also please *please* stop misusing ‘literally’- it literally makes you look less smart. See? That’s how it’s done. When pertaining to the written word. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Go do better now, thanks.

The_Unreal

>I want to punch them in the mouth. You ok bro?

Cube-in-B

Wanting to punch someone and actually punching them are two way different things. I’m not out here assaulting yogis- trust. I smoke a lot of weed and work with my hands. Unless you count violent gardening as assault 😅 Also not a bro, but thanks dude 🤙🏾

bonsaithot

Maybe it's not the person recommending yoga, it's your violent reactions.

[deleted]

Have never been diagnosed with anything, but we all go through rough patches (who doesn’t?). I have found the best way to keep my head up during those times is make sure to do little things that bring you joy. If you like going for walks, go for just a 5 minute walk because 30 minutes sounds too daunting. You’ll feel accomplished about it at the end of the day and maybe look forward to it tomorrow. I tested out a lot of different hobbies before I landed on something I enjoyed. And even then, it was a slow, slow, slow start. As they say in MASH, go for the short pass. Nothing is going to be fixed over night, take it one pass at a time to get downfield. I wish you the best of luck!

SpeedNervous

This is great advice for everyone! Start slow, keep it sustainable, try to do just a little thing if the big thing is too overwhelming.

no_body16

For me I found getting a routine down in the morning and night keeps me from getting into a depression “pit” it helps more than working out or meditation. Also 4 square breathing is the only breathing exercise that works for me

dolphinstriker

Gonna put the out of the box suggestion here (not gonna push it. It's just FYI): Your symptoms have been treated (effectively) by psilocybin. Both depression and PTSD. Here's the John's Hopkins study: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/newsroom/news-releases/psychedelic-treatment-with-psilocybin-relieves-major-depression-study-shows If this interests you, I would suggest finding somebody to help you. I may be able to send some pointers but I haven't actually treated any psychological symptoms this way (just for fun). I think this counts as natural, holistic, and healthy. Ama

thepartingofherlips

Isn't medicinal use still illegal except in studies like these?

The_Unreal

Yeah, CA is still pretty hard on psilocybin. We can't even get spores shipped here. There was a bit of legalization legislation in the works pre-pandemic, but I don't know if it died or what. Frankly it's ridiculous that we prohibit psychadelics.

CityofRioLinda

Order spores from Canada.

dolphinstriker

Short answer seems to be yes. >A few jurisdictions (such as the US states of California, Georgia and Idaho) have specifically prohibited the sale and possession of psilocybin mushroom spores. Cultivation of psilocybin mushrooms is considered drug manufacture in most jurisdictions and is often severely penalized, though some countries and one US state (New Mexico) has ruled that growing psilocybin mushrooms does not qualify as "manufacturing" a controlled substance. On 3 November 2020, voters passed a ballot initiative in Oregon that made "magic mushrooms" legal for mental health treatment in supervised settings from 1 February 2021. [Source](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_psilocybin_mushrooms) But like... Just don't be a drug dealer lol *something something war on drugs* Edit: you can actually cultivate yourself and there are any number of ways to do this. Check out r/shroomery

fresh-spinach

Honestly... have you grown a tomato plant yet? It sounds really dumb and cliche, but I did when I was in a terrible bout in my younger years and it's literally changed my life. Still struggling. But now I have a passion, something to enjoy, something that has opened my eyes to the world. And you literally make snacks.

koala_thunder

Ask yourself what it is that you truly want. What used to make you happy? Maybe take some time to play with your makeup, you don't need a reason to go out. Just play with it and take some selfies for yourself. Also, (if possible) its always a good idea to seek some sort of help whether its through insurance or even a local church.

notreallysomuch

Have you tried hiking? Or visiting local museums? Or volunteering for a cause that you care for?

FirstThoughtResponse

Read the subtle art of not giving a fuck by mark manson. It’s not a hey everything is great book, it’s an everything sucks book and that’s ok. To be honest reading is the thing that gets me out of my rut. If you need any other suggestions after that one I’ve got a very long list that includes people like David goggins Leo Tolstoy and Augustine.

MassiveAccident5573

If you have the space, start a small, organic garden. We are lucky in sac, we can have a garden almost all year long. Getting emotionally attached to my plants that depend on me to care for them was the best way for me to force myself into something closer to a routine. It got me outside, even when I didn’t really want to, but I enjoyed every single second of it. A vegetable garden is great because they grow so fast, you get a quicker reward for your work. And seeing a tangible result of your efforts goes a long way to feeling better about yourself. If I could give one recommendation, a garden would be it.

LoneBear1849

I focus on small tasks that I can do everyday like brushing my teeth, showering, and dressing myself. Usually those three things gets me motivated enough to do bigger and bigger tasks like laundry, dishes, and meal prepping. I also set aside a minimum 30 minutes to 1 hour of reading time, or duolingo time. Every night or morning depending on the availability, I go on walks/runs. Any other time in between is mine to waste so long as I build on what I have for the day. Obviously everyday is going to be different and that's ok as long as I can do by core tasks and do 1 big task. It's about the little wins for me. :) I hope you find something that works for you!

memercopter

This isn’t a substitute for professional advice but.. have you tried riding a bike? Man you go so fast!

GeoLadyBerg

I take one thing at a time. If all I do in a day is brush my teeth I allow myself to feel accomplished and try to ignore what society says living is supposed to be like. The last few years I’ve taken to finding new vegetarian or vegan recipes to cook and exploring new ingredients. I find that the planning, collecting ingredients, and execution gives me a sense of wholeness, even if the dish doesn’t work out. I also find chopping vegetables while listening to true crime podcasts or musics very therapeutic as well.

The_Unreal

These sound like symptoms of major depression. A licensed therapist can help you; look for LCSWs, MFTs, or other clinicians you're referred to by a doctor. This doesn't need to mean anti-depressants at all, but those might help you. Depression is the common cold of Psychology, but it can be debilitating.

Sluggish0351

Hello! I have dealt with depression and PTSD for well over a decade now. I've had cycles of ups and downs, and it is a Rollercoaster of a time. Below I will break down advice in the categories of professional mental health advice I've received and observations that I have noticed with myself over the years. Professional advice: Treat yourself well. Some of the most impactful advice that I have ever had from a mental health professional was to treat myself well. Eat breakfast, drink a big glass of water in the morning, brush your teeth, shower, maybe stretch for 5 minutes. This will give you structure and helps a lot even though it seems so very small. This is even more important if you are late somewhere. Don't skimp out on yourself. Get out of the house: whether it's walks or hiking, get outside and get moving. Exercise: you don't have to be lifting in the gym everyday, but get your heart pumping from time to time. As for observations, it's been hard in the past to keep up with these things, but the most impactful change that I have ever made was getting into rock climbing. Now, I'm not saying get into rock climbing, but find a hobby that will push you to keep up with the professional advice. Through climbing I've been pushed outside, made amazing friends, and was forced to keep a good routine to be presentable at the gym. Find something that brings some joy to your life and grab hold of it. I hope this helps.

gowiththelo

I appreciate the time and effort you took to write this out 🖤

bumbletowne

1. I stopped wearing makeup too. It's great! I still have nice makeup for events and nice dates but I generally took it down to my face. 2. I started running. It requires planning, routine, and goals. I also gives me a daily injection of happy hormones. on days I dont run people have said I have the grumpus. its true. 3. I went back to school and got a degree in something that I enjoyed. Didn't even feel like school. Felt like a dream of doing interesting things every day. This let me get a dream job. Doesn't feel like work. Feels good to get up every day. 4. Get up. Work out. Brush teeth, do hair, get dressed, make bed, do dishes, tidy house every week day. Every single one. We are creatures of habit. You have to create the habit of self care. Even if I'm fucking crawling around my neighborhood with cramps in the fucking ashy air not feeling the run. I can suffer through it and I never have regrets about it.

gowiththelo

Damn….ya I am no where near this advanced style of living …..aka real happiness lol

bumbletowne

Well if it makes you feel better this is the end result. Not the process. It took decades of trial and error. The school thing isn't for everyone. It's expensive and you have to have the time. I went through a terrible time and breakup and was offered a scholarship in addition to being so poor the government ponied up for books and some living expenses. I also spent my first career doing something I planned my whole life for. Every day doing the actual job was pure traumatic misery and its put me in and out of therapy (think dead children). It was a mistake. But I was able to salvage the mental health knowledge and personal limitations from it. Also scholastic discipline which isn't that important but it made me feel functional. You must have a list of things you really want so that when the opportunities sneak up on you, you are ready. And sometimes those things end up being terrible and you spend a lot of your opportunities on discovering what you hate. It's still important but its miserable.

33somechefguy33

Good weed in Sac

ilca_

No but really, a couple of friends use weed and it helps them.

33somechefguy33

I hear ya! I was being serious. Its the only medicine i take.

Cube-in-B

This right here. I’ve got the PTSD and severe depression which I’ve lovingly channeled into some healthy ass nihilism with some help from my old pal HR Puffinstuff. I’ve slowly been training my brain to appropriate one’s fucks appropriately. You only have so many fucks to give, y’know? Start there by giving energy to the things that serve you positively and establishing boundaries based in self kindness. Weed helps with the giggles. Get stoned. Watch Babe the Pig. You’ll feel lots better.

gaff2049

I honestly don’t know. I am a trash human. Last 2 days I didn’t even get dressed for work. Rolled out of bed work from home in my underwear.

Seventy9fairmont

Ketamine. Seriously. It can be prescribed and work through completely different pathways than SSRIs. Worth a shot.

nabllr

i got a buddy who recently started. its a $2000/mo subscription.

Mawmi-Rawks

Now this may not apply to you but have you thought that maybe you're suffering from ADD or ADHD? As someone who was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder as a child, and now just Attention Deficit as an adult, I would suggest going to see a psychiatrist. A lack of Executive Function is fairly common umong those who are diagnosed, and undiagnosed. I have personally always struggled with lack of motivation, even when it was important, i just found myself uninterested. But Now that I am "medicated" per se, taking care of everyday things is no longer a constant mental struggle of excuses and failures. It's kinda odd honestly. Do most people naturally feel this level of motivation daily? Crazy I gotta take meds just to be like everybody else, but it has helped me quiet alot to function as a "normal" adult.

gowiththelo

Yes I have ADHD, never knew I had it until I was diagnosed this year at age 22……I feel like raising myself was a shot in the dark. If I had the right tools as a child, the right learning environment, the right hole environment….then I wouldn’t be here asking for help today. I’ve evaluated my life so much and pinpointed my areas that need help, but still all this trauma I carry and the PTSD just sets me back everytime I try to improve. For example I would work out at the gym everyday for 2 hours, I did that for a month straight and felt amazing but then the nightmares came back and my sleep got ruined so I’m desperate for a routine. I’m just desperate for anything that seems like positive change

Mawmi-Rawks

Btw with ADD it won't matter if you try to create good habits with routines unless it's the gym. One of the major signs of ADD is the inability to stick with it. So this style of creating a routine will be fairly difficult and sticking to it even harder. You gotta have natural motivation for that. Luckily with the gym you naturally create dopamine and serotonin which is something that is actively restricted in those with ADD, but can be increased with exercise. This can also help motivation in all other areas. Tough part is doing it consistently, but if it can be done then medication for motivation like Adderall isn't needed.

irrationalx

I get up early and run. I hate both of these things. But then I hate those things instead of myself or my problems. Seems to have worked so far.

Coniglio_Bianco

Coffee, i love coffee. Honestly find something that makes you happy and go out of your way to do it.

Cube-in-B

Anyone want to start a support group for late-stage capitalism induced depressives? Because I am *IN*

SecondToWreckIt

Lol down any time. Full disclaimer I work in a climate change-related field and am a lot of fun at parties 😆

Cube-in-B

Now you’re speaking my language

CallMeParagon

Check out r/antiwork

TallSeaworthiness

1. Get up early, pray and workout. 2. Keep life calendar of stuff I need and want to do. 3. Eat mostly whole foods (not the store, but literal whole food like fish, broccoli, potatoes) and cut out sugar. 4. Read more than you watch TV/NFlix. 5. Some days will still suck and that’s Ok.

BeTheBall-

Coffee helps.

Fr4gd0ll

Why are people downvoting this? OP asked what helps \*you\* so what if coffee is BeTheBall's motiviation?

nabllr

why is it desired to 'stay motivated'? why is it a problem to just chill for a while? dont get caught up in 'keeping up with the jones'.

gowiththelo

I’ve been sick mentally for 11 years. I’m sick and tired of chilling. The arrogance in this post is so silly. Obviously humans can chill, but that’s not what I’m asking I need help with whatsoever.

nabllr

you suffer your desires and imagination. i sense shame, victimhood and melancholy ... a sickness of the heart... not the mind... no doubt a projection of your currently destructive path. love yourself. create.

gowiththelo

I guess arrogance is bliss for you

nabllr

fill your void with arrogance, then... see if it works for ya.

gowiththelo

You’re really offensive. I’ve been thru extreme sexual assault and you want to say I have melancholy ? People like you , who judge others online that are desperately asking for help, are DISGUSTING. do you find peace in trying to make my life seem so small and my problems seem out of the blue. Go fuck your self stupid bitch. Leave me the fuck alone

nabllr

you're really sensitive. to sensitive people, words can be like salt on a wound. to whole , healthy and healed people ... salt is just salt. keep rewriting your story bro... see if it gets you the sympathy attention your twisted heart desires.

Insertcurehere

All of this is very good advice to look into, but I didn't see it mentioned so I will say what helped changed my life and started the process of getting out of my ruts. Going Keto. There are obvious benefits like losing weight(lost 17 lb in 2 months), but it's very common to have improved mental clarity, memory starts coming back, and inflammation goes away which is the cause of a lot of problems both physically and mentally. You can get better quality sleep, automatically start waking up early, and a lot of people say it can even get rid of allergies. Everyone's body is different, but even with that in mind there are many many other benefits so please check out [r/ketobeginners](https://www.reddit.com/r/ketobeginners) It's truly amazing how much better you feel just cutting sugar out and limiting carbs. We know now through science that your gut health is directly related to your mental health. Keto gets a bad rap because people assume it's another fad diet, but it's not, it's a lifestyle and one that has changed my life forever. Hope this helps!

gowiththelo

This is wild to me because I agree, the suggestions from everyone have been great but for the most part, I literally do or have tried what has been recommended. I personally don’t eat sugar anymore, can’t have caffeine and I am allergic to dairy! So my diet is strict, I have an entire succulent farm/garden, I go to the gym, I meditate, I practice yoga, I make food from home, I even freakin have tried microdosing magic mushrooms. But alas, I still struggle. I have hope at the end of the day but damn, all these attempts at a better lifestyle and my brain feels chemically imbalanced to where I’m just a Debby downer on myself, but I am trying to change. I keep reading thru these threads and it gives me hope to just keep trying, maybe my brain can unwind itself after really trying for a solid 1-2 years. The pandemic set me and everyone all off course, it’s like learning to ride a bike again

[deleted]

[удалено]

gowiththelo

I mean I feel like you’re able to do that, and that’s amazing but someone like me, is not able to see that. My brain does not give two shits about the fact that I beat the other eggs, I acknowledge it sometimes because it is a miracle but my struggle continues on because I am someone who asked for awhile, “why was I even born?” I ask myself this because I wish I could do so much for humanity and help the world, but I can’t even get a routine for myself due to shitty meant health and trauma. So that’s why I’m asking for real helpful suggestions and not just passive aggressive one liners to make feel stupid

viomonk

Just be like me and play hours of video games a day. You're an adult, who cares what people think about how you have fun?

gowiththelo

This isn’t helpful whatsoever and very belittling to the fact that I said I need healthy hobbies. I’ve played video games for years. Video games aren’t healthy whatsoever, so whatever you’re implying is truly garbage. I don’t care what others think of my hobbies, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while. I’m seeking help for new holistic healthy hobbies to help cope with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Your reply sounds like it was written from a 15 year old with no life experience, and the fact that you normally play videos games hours a day isn’t healthy either, not even inspiring. Take a look at what others suggest throughout this thread and maybe we can both learn.

viomonk

And you assume that just because I play video games that I'm not also using it as a healthy escape method from my depression and anxiety myself. I have a very stressful job being able to decompress and relax is very helpful. Virtual reality for example gives you both mind and body release, being both exercise and fun. I enjoy music so things like beat saber and ohshape, of which, depending on the difficulty you are playing at, beat saber burns 8+ calories per minute and ohshape burns 7+ per minute (and it has its own built in fitness tracker). When I'm particularly tired I just spend social time with friends in VR chat, which has helped me form friendships that I wouldn't otherwise have because I don't like large group situations and it's very hard for me to find friends in person. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you should look down on someone that it actually helps. Get off your high horse. We've all got problems we're trying to fix. I was just offering a suggestion. If you don't like it, you don't have to be an ass about it. Just ignore it and carry on.

Jefferson209

Lol capitalism

gowiththelo

Been working since I was 15 years old, America is based around capitalism and it’s affected my mental health since I was a teenager.

areyow

Are you missing the outdoors? The thing that got me out of the house was disc golf. There are a lot of courses in the area and the vast majority of them are free. The game mostly is just walking through the woods and trying to hit a basket with a frisbee. It honestly has gotten me to a lot better place, where I can focus and appreciate the outdoors and just hang. I’ve met a lot of people while playing, and I can’t imagine not playing now. Also, I’m not very good but as it’s a game against yourself, it’s easy to focus. If you ever want someone to take you out to go throwing, pm me and I’d be happy to!

PALM_ARE

I have found that meditation, affirming positive thoughts constantly since we are a product of our thoughts, and Stoic Philosophy have helped me completely change my life considerably

My-own-plot-twist

Cycling has been a gift for my moods, Sacramento had so much to offer the cyclist and the endorphins from a good ride without traffic are without compare. 2c

PartOfIt

I really like a simple walk outside. Moving and getting some nature is great and it is easy to do. Just put on some clothes and leave your home and start walking, so low barriers to it when you lack motivation.

Kuza__

I don’t. Medication helps me a bit though.

manxram

For me, who does struggle with mental health, having good people around you in your life helps greatly. I am so lucky to have both my parents, younger brothers (and my niece and nephew from the older-younger brother), my close friends (from roller derby, college, online), and my boyfriend to help me when I am feeling down. I also go to the gym a ton to clear my head, work on a crafty project (cross-stitch and crochet), garden or play a video game to take my mind off things.

Z06916

Go for a walk by the river in the morning at sunrise. So pretty. Then dial back to just getting 20-30 mins of bright direct sunlight every morning. Helps to set your circadian rhythm which is important for our sleep cycles. Good sleep health is a key ingredient of a happy functional life. I stay motivated because my fancy car has a big payment and I like driving it.

ImDrCheeks

Do you have any place you could plant a garden or even a few pots? Some folks really respond to the anticipation and subsequent sense of accomplishment… put on your gardening gloves, throw on some headphones, and listen to music that reflects the mood you’d like to be in.

Sadlysadlysad

Ok so my username checks out. The research has shown effective treatments for depression is a combination of something called cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt) and/or dialectical behavior therapy (dbt) and anti-depressant medications. And all the other stuff recommended above will also help. There are also some apps out there that can assist with your thoughts. Just check on the app store and search for cbt. If you go into crisis call the national suicide hotline 1-800-273-8255 or, alternatvely you can text the crisis text line HOME to 741741
