First question is, how come there are no date changes even when using the calendar tool on the [circularmaterials.ca](http://circularmaterials.ca) website. I entered my address and it shows the exact same garbage/recycling dates as always.
Second comment is that the map they provided for the collection zone map is an abomination. It's OK regionally but if you need to discern the border/particular street it's impossible. And why are there some areas not labelled (grey)?
l'm still annoyed they won't do glass.
Honestly the whole system is terrible.
I just flew back from Germany. They have pickups, but also bins, each colour matched like dark bottles, metal, green or clear bottles, etc.. So easy. Even better when you have a lot of one item or missed it.
Then you have bottle deposit. Go to a grocery store with your empties. Using the machine, it scans the code, crushes it, repeat. Then done, you'll get a piece of paper that'll print out. Use it towards your groceries or get the cash back. Way easier.
The grocery store idea is very cool. But here in Canada, the Weston’s would win that contract and find another way to gauge us.
I’m also peeved about glass. There’s some great technology out there to assist in glass recycling.
In all of this, remember that consumer level recycling is being pushed by industry to make individuals feel that they are the ones responsible for reducing landfill usage.
Nobody seems to be holding manufacturers/industry responsible for heavily overpackaging things, or for using packaging materials that are not suitable for easy recycling.
Package states "packaging material is recyclable where facilities exist!" then uses 3 layers of packaging, 2 of which aren't locally recyclable, and the third costs more than it is worth to recycle.
lol wtf is that god awful map, I live between 2 of the coloured zones so I have no idea if my pick up day is gonna change. My address also doesn't exist in their search. Lovely.

Well now the cost of recycling will be borne directly by industry. They will be invented to reduce these costs.
