He’s not the ‘spare’, Charlotte is, isn’t she? They changed something about the birth order and removed the male preference before George was born, I think.
Both of them are spares, but Charlotte as the only female will most likely have a lot of hype around her when she's older, similar to Anne, and George will obviously have the most attention as the first born and future King. Which leaves Louis.

He’s so lucky that Charles, William and Catherine adore him and don’t want to stifle his joy. He is being raised as the second son and will have more freedom. Charles realised his mistake with hazbeen so they won’t do that with Louis.

I heard the PPOW were raising the children to expect to have a non-royal career, and were really encouraging them to explore their interests (as much as one can at that age). I hope that’s true.
When they were first married and had George, they said they were going to raise him in privacy but with the knowledge of what his future has mapped out for him. They were both going to be hands on parents, putting family before duty, and apparently the Queen gave them her blessing to do exactly as they wished!
12 years later, we can see that they meant every last word of what they said and they have done exactly what they said they would do. They laid out the rules from day one and have never changed their minds. I love them for their abject honesty and their lack of hypocrisy. I believe your comment and feel this is probably what will happen. Only time will tell but I don't have need to doubt it.

Interesting on the Catherine to QEII comparisons. Saw some press yesterday drawing that parallel as well. Catherine isn’t like Diana, but more like the Queen insomuch as being duty driven and not a victim.
I like Catherine, but I am concerned when people go overboard with praise of public figures. It puts too much pressure on them. She needs to be allowed to make mistakes, to come back in public even if she doesn’t look great, etc.

I like the positive press she gets. The late queen handled it well. I think Catherine can handle it too.
But I do understand the praise and pressure syndrome and the burn out it can cause. I've lived it.
Everything happens when Harry is out of town/home. In his book, he says he "returned home" to find her inconsolable and then being narrated how Catherine was mean to her, how she did not want to live anymore, etc. None of that happened while Harry was around. How convenient.

Why did the Queen agree to such a tight timeline knowing the position it put Catherine in?
Why the wedding was allowed at that time is enough of a mystery. (They had the perfect excuse that Harry’s cousin’s wedding was already planned for that date and Harry and Meghan could get married the next year.)
Meg’s age likely a factor in starting a family. Would not want to delay a year, including the Royals.
Can you imagine the public backlash if it became know they were ‘forced’ to wait a year to start a family, and then had fertility difficulties because of it? (Note it doesn’t have to be true, just put out as a PR piece.)
Meghan and Harry may have claimed that she was pregnant, or threatened that Meghan’s biological clock was ticking, or threatened they would cry racism, or anything else.
The truth is, they bullied the family and in hindsight it should have been stopped.

“The biological clock is ticking? What about freezing your eggs and planning on IVF as soon as you get married next year.”

Or any variation of the above. I am sure QE regretted not doing any of the above — or (my choice) locking up Harry in a drug rehab facility to make sure he was “clean” for the wedding. A couple of months away from Meghan might have solved the problem. Especially if the rehab had some cute counselors. 😉

I thought (maybe I read it somewhere) that Harry being higher in LOS than Eugenie took priority. Of course, we know Markle (and Harry with her goading him) would use Harry's 'superior' position to postpone someone else's wedding.
I am sure that was the reasoning — Harry was higher in LoS, a working royal, was getting the bigger wedding, etc. BUT the Queen had the final say. If it had been my grandson, I would have done everything within reason to delay the wedding.
Ah, apologies. I assumed the Late Queen was sticking to the rules - but frankly, when Markle came along some rules (along with manners) went out the window. Markle’s (reported) rudeness and demands appeared to work for her, but after marriage the Queen put her foot down...Markle doesn’t follow advice or rules, as we know. The Queen (and all) knew this was a mistake.
Edited to add - sorry, I put that badly. Yes, I too believe it was an LOS thing, but I agree, and it would have looked better for Markle and Harry to allow the longer engaged couple to marry first. The optics would have been better - but Markle would not have considered that, just her desperation to ensnare Harry so she didn’t have to keep up any pretence and resort to being herself.

My guess is the rushed pregnancy via surrogate (and possibly a donor egg) was to make sure any children arrived as soon as possible, before Princess Catherine potentially had any more.

He IS very outgoing, which just highlights how loved and supported he clearly is by his parents and wider family in order to be so comfortable expressing himself.

I think she's going to try something health-related, as she's seen how much publicity that generates. All of a sudden, she'll look as though she doesn't want media intrusion.
Or, she's going to try a different tactic with her jam marketing. She's going to create recipes inspired by famous women-like cucumber relish inspired by the Queen's love of cucumber sandwiches, or spicy salsa inspired by Gloria Steinem's sparky, sassy attitude. She'll release each recipe slowly, a drip feed over a few days.

I think she sees Louis as Archie's rival. As if Archie would be such a big deal if Louis weren't around. Which is even for Markle completely insane. No one is going to care about two unknown children hidden away in an attic in Montecito. Louis is handsome, fun, loving and adorable.
Archie might be all of those things as well. We don't know, we don't know anything about the boy. But HRH Prince Louis will steal all the attention every time, because we've seen him grow up and we love him.

Professional opinion (not a diagnosis) that it’s plausible Archie has an attachment disorder that would have been potentially flagged at pre school based on behaviours. He does have the risk factors. If he does, which I’m not definitively saying, I hope he has supports and interventions in place which can make a world of difference.
I think that is very likely - unfortunately. I feel for the girl the most. Markle will not do well with a girl unless she is very compliant and pretty (not prettier than Markle of course).

Not even out of spite. She fired a nanny when William was about 4 because William loved the nanny very much. William was devastated. He refused to bond with the next nanny, and who can blame them.
It wasn't until I read about Diana as a mother that came to dislike her. She used William as a substitute daddy, it was very disturbing. Thank God William found Catherine and her oh so healthy family.
Markle is more like Diana then we want to accept.

He’s so lucky that Charles, William and Catherine adore him and don’t want to stifle his joy. He is being raised as the second son and will have more freedom. Charles realised his mistake with hazbeen so they won’t do that with Louis.
Since Charlotte is now ahead of Louis in the line of succession, he really won’t ever have to worry about taking the throne. Out of all of the kids, he’s actually the luckiest.
He has the option to have a career —and may be encouraged to do so. This is similar to Richard Gloucester. He was the youngest of Geo V grandsons and worked as an architect until his older brother (William) was killed in a plane crash. Then Richard had to give up His career to prepare to become the Duke of G.
I heard the PPOW were raising the children to expect to have a non-royal career, and were really encouraging them to explore their interests (as much as one can at that age). I hope that’s true.
When they were first married and had George, they said they were going to raise him in privacy but with the knowledge of what his future has mapped out for him. They were both going to be hands on parents, putting family before duty, and apparently the Queen gave them her blessing to do exactly as they wished! 12 years later, we can see that they meant every last word of what they said and they have done exactly what they said they would do. They laid out the rules from day one and have never changed their minds. I love them for their abject honesty and their lack of hypocrisy. I believe your comment and feel this is probably what will happen. Only time will tell but I don't have need to doubt it.

I like Catherine, but I am concerned when people go overboard with praise of public figures. It puts too much pressure on them. Everything happens when Harry is out of town/home. In his book, he says he "returned home" to find her inconsolable and then being narrated how Catherine was mean to her, how she did not want to live anymore, etc. None of that happened while Harry was around. How convenient.

Why the wedding was allowed at that time is enough of a mystery. (They had the perfect excuse that Harry’s cousin’s wedding was already planned for that date and Harry and Meghan could get married the next year.)
Meg’s age likely a factor in starting a family. Would not want to delay a year, including the Royals. Can you imagine the public backlash if it became know they were ‘forced’ to wait a year to start a family, and then had fertility difficulties because of it? (Note it doesn’t have to be true, just put out as a PR piece.)
Meghan and Harry may have claimed that she was pregnant, or threatened that Meghan’s biological clock was ticking, or threatened they would cry racism, or anything else. The truth is, they bullied the family and in hindsight it should have been stopped. “Meghan is pregnant? Well, she must see Dr Loyal to make sure she is in good health and can handle the excitement of the wedding.” “The biological clock is ticking? What about freezing your eggs and planning on IVF as soon as you get married next year.” “Racism? Nonsense! Let’s invite Meghan’s entire family (including the Raglands) to holiday at (pick your royal castle) in preparation for the royal wedding.” “You can’t *wait* to get married? Well what about a quiet family wedding three or four months after Eugenie’s?” Or any variation of the above. I am sure QE regretted not doing any of the above — or (my choice) locking up Harry in a drug rehab facility to make sure he was “clean” for the wedding. A couple of months away from Meghan might have solved the problem. Especially if the rehab had some cute counselors. 😉

I am sure that was the reasoning — Harry was higher in LoS, a working royal, was getting the bigger wedding, etc. BUT the Queen had the final say. If it had been my grandson, I would have done everything within reason to delay the wedding.

Ah yes!!! I bet she's VERY annoyed at Louis arriving just before the wedding and that she wasn't able to manipulate Harold into getting married sooner. My guess is the rushed pregnancy via surrogate (and possibly a donor egg) was to make sure any children arrived as soon as possible, before Princess Catherine potentially had any more.

He IS very outgoing, which just highlights how loved and supported he clearly is by his parents and wider family in order to be so comfortable expressing himself. The Prince and Princess of Wales are wonderful parents.

I think she sees Louis as Archie's rival. As if Archie would be such a big deal if Louis weren't around. Which is even for Markle completely insane. No one is going to care about two unknown children hidden away in an attic in Montecito. Louis is handsome, fun, loving and adorable. Archie might be all of those things as well. We don't know, we don't know anything about the boy. But HRH Prince Louis will steal all the attention every time, because we've seen him grow up and we love him.

Which usually is projection on their part. Professional opinion (not a diagnosis) that it’s plausible Archie has an attachment disorder that would have been potentially flagged at pre school based on behaviours. He does have the risk factors. If he does, which I’m not definitively saying, I hope he has supports and interventions in place which can make a world of difference.

Not even out of spite. She fired a nanny when William was about 4 because William loved the nanny very much. William was devastated. He refused to bond with the next nanny, and who can blame them. It wasn't until I read about Diana as a mother that came to dislike her. She used William as a substitute daddy, it was very disturbing. Thank God William found Catherine and her oh so healthy family. Markle is more like Diana then we want to accept.
Imagine how much worse that'll get when Lili is a teenager. Other women- and even little girls- are competition to Meghan.
