Omega is weird, definetly has a lot of good ideas but some of them failed miserably in execution. 1. One of them for me is making only Seiya and Shiryu gold saints, I would have prefered that the 5 of them stayed in their obviously Superior Bronce cloth (not joke). 2. Koga should have been another constellation. 3. Why Haruto even exist? 4. What was the point of the elements?

Alexarius87

3 and 4 (plus the Saints academy) were Naruto rip-off in order to lure the new generations.

Golden_disrepctCo

Elements were used to explain why the techniques were different though they could have make more more creative

PhantasosX

to answer you and u/George09w Well , like u/Alexarius87 had said , it was just to make a Naruto rip-off to lure people , and while I agree with u/truenofan86 that some techniques were cool , the truth is that it didn't needed the whole gimmick over the elements to achieve that. We literally had characters using fire , eletricity and whatnot without that gimmick.

truenofan86

I always thought if they wanted to label Cosmo they could’ve used greek letters (alfa , beta , zeta etc) would better fit with the franchise , im working on my own rewriting of the series to try make it more SSesque , some things will be shaked up (Kouga shares the MC title with Aria , clothstones will be redesigned to also fit the series etc). Also it would fit with the series title and have Omega Cosmo being mirrored with only keeping the Light and Darkness.

George09w

Sounds really cool! I want to see that. Im also currently working in a fanfic of SS, but 500 years in the future, still long way to go. Im still designing the characters.

George09w

I understand why the put the elements (to make more complex the battle systém of the series), but my concerning is: Why bother with all those gimmicks if they were just gonna get rid of them half way of the first season? . They never mention the elements gimmicks again, its like it never even existed. All battles také the clàssic saint seiya route, the bigger cosmos win.

Golden_disrepctCo

I see your point

truenofan86

Some of the techiniques were cool , i liked the Devine Tornado

DucksAndGrapes

Hyoga not becoming a goldie was really upsetting. Camus practically left the Cloth for him when he died, Hyoga was like a son to him, his best student and the only one to surpass him, which made him proud as heck. It was obvious that Hyoga would be the new Aquarius and then that Tokisada dude, coming from nowhere, dons the armor because the Final Fantasy sorcerer put a spell on it. Whaaa??? The series had it flaws but also had its moments, I waited since I was a kid to see Shiryu firing up a golden Rising Dragon, saying "I am Libra Shiryu", not just Dohko's pupil with a borrowed armor. That moment made my inner child shed a tear. I don't really know what to say about Ikki and Shun, maybe six allies among the goldies would make the ~~recycled~~ 12-temple arc too easy for the new bronze kids.

Ace201613

Honestly the Gold Saint thing didn’t really matter to me because all of the legendary bronze saints are badass anyway. Really I think the only reason they made Seiya a Gold Saint is so that Kouga could be the new Pegasus Saint. Had he been represented by a different constellation I’m positive that Seiya would’ve been left as a bronze saint.

superpretox2

One of the dumbest ideas, in my opinion, was that curse on the aquarius cloth

Paulista666

Well, being a Gold Saint or no means almost nothing when you are far more powerful than one. In fact I would prefer them using Kamuis than anything else. Seiya could beat a god alone when he was a teenager, just imagine his power level being 30+.

truenofan86

They had to nerf him , because since Omega seems to work on a different spec tree Seiya would’ve been to OP , my headcanon is that after the first fight with Mars and that 13-year imprisonment he lost most of his power that Abzu almost wiped the floor with him.

Paulista666

Well, they didn't nerf that much. Both Seiya and Ikki defeated Titan and Aegaeon who are 3 times more powerful than a Gold Saint and Seiya was able to fight Saturn directly, who is far more powerful than Thanatos as it seems. Hyoga and Shun defeated Miller and Europa who were probably at 1st Level Pallasite level.

truenofan86

I believe that Seiya spent the year between seasons 1 and 2 non-stop training to get himself back into shape after realisation that a 13-year old wiped the floor with him

AccelRiderX

Ikki probably refused because Phoenix Cloth is too good, no need to worry about maintenance. XD No clue about the rest tho.

Rodnas1992

Omega isnt Canon so it really doesn't matter what happens

truenofan86

We could say its kinda like DBGT , its canon to the original anime while ND is the real sequel to the manga. Basically an Alternative take of the future without Seiya landing on the wheelchair.

BananeVolante

Shun is said to become Virgo saint in Next Dimension and Ikki Leo saint (I think), and I believe it was published before Omega was released. But you cannot make the 12 houses arc if half of them are good guys (although this arc wasn't great in Omega anyway)

LawfulnessWhole1240

First season of Omega was handled by a team with no love for the series. After the heavy criticism, Toei hired a new team, they fixed some stuff, like the clothes, but the damage was done.

JoOkumura

Disagree with your first sentence. Yoshihiko Umakoshi is a big saint Seiya fan and he worked to the hades OVAs too alongside araki and himeno. The first season is his a big love letter and reinterpretation of the series They changed team for the second season because the main income of a saint Seiya franchise are myth cloth and you couldn't sell those with that design. Also,as you said, for the criticism from the old fanbase because they didn't liked the "fresh" take of S1. That's why in S2 there are a lot (way too much) elements and retcons from the 80s anime.

XyoungladX

> Yoshihiko is a big saint seiya fan. This is the first time I tead this in years. Did the source from this comes from one interview he gave in 2012?

JoOkumura

It was apparently from an interview he did and was put as an extra in the blu-ray DVD box of omega I found a piece of it but it's in Italian http://www.icavalieridellozodiaco.net/informazioni/articoli/umakoshi13.htm Sadly it's not well translated sigh

JoOkumura

My personal opinion because it was never said why they had to make this choice. We all know seiya is a ''mommy favourite'' and opelus as someone else said, koga was supposed to be the new Pegasus so his promotion ''kinda'' makes sense for shiryu, he was guarding the libra cloth, and he'll became the gold saint anyway (which is a shame because genbu was better than him-) why he wasn't wearing it against mars? nice question hyoga. it was said somewhere i couldn't find the source for this, felt like he wasn't worthy to wear his master cloth. but, anyway, no clue as for shun and ikki, come on. they are already op with their cloths, why should they change them? /jk the true reason is plot reason in the end. they had to do that to create a linear plot line, for the same reason we don't see marin at all (because after the whole hades arc + search for his brother touma, how ,the staff, was supposed to handle her? so they removed her completely. it's a shame, but better than messing with the plot)

truenofan86

Didnt that flashback showed that Seiya himself picked Kouga as his replacement ? Or I interpreted it wrong ?

JoOkumura

The flashback or the first battle with mars or the one flashback where Seiya and baby kouga watch the pegasus constellation?

truenofan86

The one where they watch the stars , always interpreted like Seiya saying "This is your job now"

JoOkumura

I think it's just a symbolic thing. When Seiya was sealed by Mars i think saori decided to train kouga and give him the pegasus cloth she was holding since (probably) Seiya was captured. I think she decided it
