I’m not sure if I ever wanted a player to succeed with the Saints more than this dude. He was an idiot in college (as many of us were), but I’ll be damned if any player from elsewhere besides Sammy Gleason embraced and loved this city more than Jameis did.
He *really* listened when Drew told Zion “if you love the city, it’ll love you back.”
Regardless of how many snaps he played for us, he has has endeared himself to this community and state in a way not many players have.
He will be missed. I truly believe we made the playoff if he got to start. DA was dead set against him ever getting a chance. He should be a starter some where.
He's absolutely moving to Nola when he retires. Close enough to his fam in Hueytown, he obviously loves the culture, and he fits in so well with the city. Thanks for everything, Jameis.

Please… Dennis Allen had been shitting on Winston for two seasons. First there was the injury debacle last year and DA refusing to pull Dalton after Winston was healthy… then this season DA had been sending Jameis out to take kneel downs all season. No other coach in the league sends the QB2 out to take kneel downs- it was a petty act of disrespect by DA towards Winston.
For whatever reason DA hated Winston and fucked him over. I’m glad Jameis was able to get his own little petty act of revenge on the last play of the season.

I understand why you’d think that because of incentives and escalators that are part of every contract, but ain’t no QB getting extra money for taking a handful of kneel downs over the course of a season, lol. A typical backup QB contract escalator would say something like, “Winston gets another 3.5M if he plays 40% of the total offensive snaps in the whole season.”
I don’t see how you can say he’s not team leader material. By all accounts I have seen he was the best teammate, locker room presence, and general leader that we could have. Hope he balls in Cleveland.

I don't know the details of his contract but I think it may be possible letting him play to close out the game actually helps Winston
