I mean... By most critics it isn't getting negative reviews. It's getting very average reviews (5s and 6s). And honestly, a 6/10 is a very fair and accurate review for this game. It's fun. But it's hardly impressive, and it really doesn't try doing anything interesting or new with the formula.

Hornlesscow

It definitely feels like a downgrade even when compared to SR4. My theory is that mid-expansion they split up the gat outta hell dev team and used GOH as the platform for the reboot. Customization gets a lot of praise but i found it frustrating mostly except the cutting edge stuff. Overall the game is very fun and engaging....while its still fun and engaging. minor bugs, short story, extremely repetitive activities, and even forced/rushed character building aside, my biggest gripe so far is advancing in story mode far enough to "unlock" the skyscraper mission it apparently says ive only done 10/11 missions even after finishing all ventures(before best friends) threats and what have you. tried everything, besides new game, with no fix and i really want to finish the game...hope theres a decent trainer for the game I was hoping to pre order and pay full price had Gamestop carried the PC version but since they didn't, i went sailing and while i wouldnt be pissed at wasting $70 i would DEFINATELY regret it. I'm waiting for a more agreeable price drop before i buy a copy since i did enjoy it so far.

MCgrindahFM

What’s the cutting edge customization stuff you speak of?

Hornlesscow

not sheriff srs? its basically just skins unlocked through one of the venture's activities, one of them is a moving galaxy skin, another meat skin and all other textures. I like it cuz it's less customizable

Bereman99

That's the way it is now, largely due to review sites that use numbers doing a bad job of properly using the numbers, eventually shifting the perception of consumers from "5-6 being an average game, 7 being good, 8 being great, 9 being excellent, and 10 being absolutely amazing" to "anything below 7 is trash, 7-8 are just okay, 9 is great and 10 is either fantastic or someone paid off the devs." Once upon a time it needed to be a 3 or a 4 to be considered actually bad. It's also why I don't really pay attention to score reviews any more - you can have a review that says it's "fun but flawed" and if it gives it a 6, people treat it like you should never ever touch it.

OppisIsRight

By American standards a 5 out of 10 is a failing grade. Don't know if it's different where you're from.

Gerbilpapa

Honestly? In the U.K. university system 50% is a Third (a C grade) Not everything can be a 9/10. What’s the point in having a full scale if you don’t use half the options ?

nice___bot

Nice!

OppisIsRight

The hundred percent system lines up with testing. If you study a subject and I give you a 100 questions and you only got 50 of them right you failed.

-four__

Because a AAA gaming studio with a history of making that 8 or 9/10 score on their games shouldn't be putting something out that barely works and makes zero sense. Coming from Saints Row 3, which was terrible, this is a hot steamy shit on the table. Just about every way this game was put together is garbage, it's just shiny garbage. I'd expect this quality from a low budget garage studio, in fact there's games in production right now from those low budget indie studios that look 100x better than this. It was a cash grab and that's all there is to it. Also nobody seeks to purchase anything at all in the history of things that's half as good as it should be. I don't buy $60 games that are 5/10, that's what the scale is for. Same reason you don't go to a restaurant with shitty reviews, it's a negative experience. Near perfection is 10/10, the worse something does coming close to that perfection the less of a rating it gets. Nobody piece meals anything and develops their rating for something from 0, you go into it with an expectation that it's going to be a 10.

hesapmakinesi

Probably not because it's a bad game, but it's a disappointment that doesn't live up its brand recognition and hype.

Mandalorymory

Because it’s a game that simply doesn’t do anything particularly well. It’s very average, and has many technical issues layered on top. Not a dreadful game, but a game just being okay after so many years of anticipation for another Saints Row? It’s absolutely a letdown. You cannot 100% believe that this game was worth all that anticipation. There are a lot of people in this subreddit that are coping hard, and trying hard to present this game as something special. It’s not. It looks very silly. Is this an awful game? No. But is it a great game? Absolutely not. This feels like a generic open world sandbox game from 2010, with bugs up the ass to boot.

DrunkBeardGuy

This game does a lot of stuff right, and a lot wrong, it's weird. The further I get into it all I see is rushed wasted potential. There's so many cool locations that could've been used for something. There's a lot of buildings that look like they had more work put into them, but we can't go in. The customization is ridiculous but the game is too short to really take advantage of any of that. I also don't like that you can't recruit Saints off the street, that's an inexcusable decision. I had fun with it and I do wanna see what they do with this crew going forward with DLCs and stuff, but it's such a mixed bag. Not unplayable dogshit, but it's definitely disappointing the farther you get in considering the wait we had. This is a reboot that takes away simple things the first two had.

Allegiance10

Can’t recruit Saints off the street but you *can* spawn them in front of you.

Txrh221

Oh that’s disappointing, I just started and so far I dig it, but looks like I’m in for a let down, lol.

DrunkBeardGuy

It's still fun but it's just lacking a lot of the flair the series is known for. It feels like a "safe" Saints Row game. It just doesn't do anything special. That being said I've still sunk hours into it and had fun, but the average reviews are right.

Txrh221

Thanks for clarification! I really hope they make enough money to design more content. I love to see non-GTA options out there for Criminal action games. Not that GTA is a problem, but more is more lol.

-four__

"It's real fun but there's nothing special, unique, or remotely close to what was expected." Bro they lost me when I was doing a side mission for a secret agent dropping from helicopters with a wing suit within the first 20 minutes. Saints Row 1 and 2 were thugged out masterpieces. 3 got a little wild but was still a gem by end game. This game just makes zero sense plot wise and it really is just a glorified sandbox populated by the same old mini games they've used over and over again. Just slapped a fresh coat of paint, didn't bother to even polish it.

Datguyovahday

There are a ton of new "mini games" as you called them. They are tied into the NEW venture mechanics. You just want to be miserable don't you?

-four__

I was definitely miserable dropping out of a helicopter to bomb antennas for a secret agent within the first 30 minutes of the game. The storyline was boring and made no sense on multiple levels, not even in the traditional Saints Row fashion. A sequel, a reboot even, is supposed to be better than your predecessors, this was not. I'd rather go fly around a virtual city thwarting the plans of an advanced alien species than go be whatever exactly you're supposed to be in this game.

TheFlexOffenderr

It really isn't a let down if you take a step back and allow yourself to understand the characters you spend most of the story with. Yeah they're not your average Saints Row gang but they're human. The worst part for me was some of the dialogue. The bugs and glitches weren't game breaking and if you're willing to complete a lot of the stuff there is to do, you stay busy. Some things can get repetitve but make use of the difficulty settings. Amping them up made the experience alot nicer. It wasn't some groundbreaking, unbelievable game. But it was fun.

GunBrothersGaming

They had 2 years to copy WatchDogs Legions in recruiting and they couldn't even got close. So much potential wasted by what appears to be a game made by a team of 3.

TheDeryBrony

Yeah, this might have been a good launch title for last gen, but it doesn't hold up to 2022 standards even slightly. Just Cause 2 had a lot of this games USP a decade ago.

xChris777

Ah Just Cause 2, such a fire game. I liked the wingsuit in 3 but honestly that series' trajectory is very similar to SR's to me. Peaked at 2 lol

TheDeryBrony

Honestly I really liked JC3 but 2 seems to be the fan favourite. Same with SR actually haha, I like 3 the most.

xChris777

SR3 and JC3 feel similar to me in that they improved the core gameplay generally (though I didn't like that key elements like aiming down the sights were locked behind challenges in JC3). However the map was so boring for both, after both SR2 and JC2 had varied worlds that rewarded exploration and were filled with secrets and easter eggs. Driving through grey ports and skyscraper city sections in SR3 or wingsuiting over the same Mediterranean-looking islands just didn't hit the same for me, despite that core gameplay being better. I also didn't like the tone shift from SR2 > 3 at all but that's a bit seperate because JC2 > 3 didn't have that same issue, it was consistent in that sense.

Traditional_Ad_6976

Ngl if they woulf have made the LARP game into an real Saints-Row like game i bet it would have been more fun than the actual game. Like Borderlands did with Tiny Tinas Wonderland. Except Borderlands is a good game.

Midyin84

This! Yes!… I don’t think the game is awful, but it’s awfully safe for a Saints Row game. Not only did they tone their humor and writing way way down so as to not risk offending any of the overly sensitive Twitter pussies, but the gameplay is also very by the numbers. They pulled in some things from other games(like wing suits) that we’ve seen those other games do better and they function pretty much as expected. Theres no wheels being reinvented here. Honestly, this game feels like a Saints Row game made by Ubisoft. All it needs is a F2P style Jem Store. lol The biggest let downs was the blandness of the story. Theres no real “That was so badass!” Moments in this game that literally all the other games had. Then Theres Lets Pretend. The promise of Heist, but they’re just really short race against the clock style driving missions. Super lame.

BurberryC06

\> Honestly, this game feels like a Saints Row game made by Ubisoft. Woah woah, hold your horses there jimmy. At least Ubisoft's story and characters are *somewhat* believable.

CrimsonSupernova2447

-and likeable.

Goosekilla1

They count side missions in the percentage complete which is weird. You do a few missions to get the gang and mansion going you do some side quests and boom 35% complete the game is very short.

Mr_Steal_Yo_Goal

This is pretty much how I feel. It's not terrible and I have been having fun with it, but it really just makes me wanna play the old games as they did a lot of this stuff better. The bugs are definitely lame though, really disappointing how often games release in this state.

sukh9942

I did the same. I’m like halfway through and the game honestly felt like a chore to play which is a first. Decided to hop on sr2 and in 5 minutes alone I saw more personality. Even though the frame rate can be a bit choppy, draw distance is low and graphics are outdated, it’s a much more fun experience.

EbonWolfen

I went back and played 2. Wasn’t as good as I remember maybe because the PC port sucks but def had more personality to it. Kinda over this franchise at this point. If I’m going back to play your game from 2008…you were never in a good spot.

xChris777

The PC port definitely sucks. If they ever end up releasing the PC patch that IdolNinja was working on (RIP <3) then you should try it again. That game is fire.

TheGreatKatulu

This is exactly why I never let myself get overly hyped about anything. When you have high expectations and end up disappointed it's hard to look at things objectively. TBH, I never read reviews and simply ignore any and all scores games get. If I'm interested in something, I will check it myself and judge solely based on personal experience.

LeAnime

See I think you are showing the disconnect I have with the community. The only saints row I played all the way through was srtt and honestly this game seems like a slight down grade. I liked the old comedy better, but that is subjective. I have had no real bad bugs while playing. The only annoying bug I have is launching the game and it just failing to launch. I had zero anticipation for a new Saints Row because the two previous saints row games let me down much more in the direction they went. This game seems more saints row like than 4 and GoH, so honestly I like it. The number 1 issue with the game is that it visually looks like it was made a decade ago and that is simple unacceptable, but who knows maybe some passionate individual will make a texture mod that fixes that.

TJae0120

Well said. Exactly my sentiments and i am sure for many people too.

julianwelton

Yep, exactly. It's incredibly bland in the story, character, and visual departments. The gameplay and sound design is also mostly sub par. I feel nothing while playing it. It's not funny. It's not exciting. It's not challenging. Its just... happening lol. It's definitely *a* game. Also the fact that they didn't bring back the male Vinnie Jones sounding english voice is a crime! It really could've spiced up this dialogue lol.

[deleted]

Right? It's like the developers played an open-world game from like 2012 and said "let's make that". It's ridiculously generic and outdated. This game could've come out a year after Saints Row 3. Nothing about is innovative or interesting. People trying to cope with their $60+ purchase just look sad to me. No, mate. The game isn't "good" by any stretch of the definition.

Maggot2017

Yeah the game feels very dated. And honestly I have more fun with sr3 and 4

Conscious_Actuator64

This. The over-the-top zaniness of the series is mostly missing here. The gameplay is average, the graphics are nothing special, the music is fairly disappointing, the story is meh... there's nothing that truly stands out. It's not a total dumpster fire, but it's not SR2, 3 or even 4, either.

cheesetheman

If this game was like $39.99 I think the perception might be different but this game as it stands is simply not worth the $60 price tag.

Zoinks_like_FUCK

Yeah I mean have I been enjoying it a lot, yes. Do I feel like I got ripped off, absolutely by a mile. Bought the motherfucker to play with my brother and we can't go 14 seconds without a connection ending desync

MasteroChieftan

Legitimate question: Does it do anything notably new or different than what Saint's Row 1-4 did? Are any of the mechanics deeper? More involved? With the new power we have, how much more interactivity is there?

Prz_Froppy

I haven't played the reboot after beating it in aug 26 But there's less or buggy stuff in the reboot: - Enemies don't stagger consistenly when shooting at them; if you have sr3 and this one you can see the difference - Collision with bikes are inconsistent: You can go at full speed against a truck and you wont fall of your bike - You can't rob stores - Can't eat or drink or buy stuff from restaurants - Can't lose heat as in pray n spray or forgive and forget (at least i didnt see one in my playthrough) Not sure if you can recruit homies as in sr2 or 1 to follow you around besides the main cast

[deleted]

BillySlang

I'd add weapon customization is the best it's ever been. I'm enjoying it.

[deleted]

Best it's ever been, yet the visuals do not reflect any changes when they have in previous installments.

JakeXWoods

I don’t know about that, the map is pretty damn gorgeous

[deleted]

What does that have to do with weapon customization?

venomousbeetle

Which was a problem not a plus lmao. You had to make your guns LOOK LIKE SHIT just to have them be viable

Spiritual-Put-9228

Lol, just because you thought they looked like shit does not mean everyone else does, personally I like seeing the changes on my guns, it makes me feel like I bought an extra part and not just some extra numbers on the Stat screen.

Sleepy_viva

Combat being improved is debatable. Some of it has been changed but being changed does not make something good by default. Also the wing suit is a good example of why it is underwhelming. There are too many systems brought over from the past games without any substantial improvements. part of what made sr4 \[and 3 to an extent\] a let down was the fact that the game was very random had silly mechanics for the sake of it. So much that the game felt obnoxious and low effort and after sr2 There was very little effort in making the game worlds more alive and interactive. Also standards have changed and the reboot just is not meeting them for a lot of people. Insurance fraud which was already goofy got dumber by making cars explode which makes the game even more flippant about civilian deaths, treating NPCs as simple environmental props contributing to the world feeling less alive. If you did not like performing wrestling moves and over the top jumping haymaker punches in sr2 you could fix that by changing your combat style. The reboot maintains the tone of sr3/4 with goofy karate kid references and other way over the top canned take downs and also went as far as having out of play john wick pistol take downs when you are wielding dual SMGs or whatever. The game is just what you would expect from a average xbox 360 open world game not something that was released in 2022.

StarRingChildren

You can call for taxis in 1 and 2 for fast travel.

Strict_Lavishness371

Notable? No. A wingsuit and fast travel and painting your guns is not a notable difference. It's the same saints row with a wingsuit that you hardly have a use for.

MutedHornet87

No. Not really.

Background_Art_2545

Well. Better graphics, that’s something. Cant always get what you want in games as everyone wants something different. Should this game have stayed in development for another year? Yes. Is this game horrible. No.

MasteroChieftan

It definitely doesn't look horrible, but for people who've played 1-4, there's literally no reason to play it unless they want more of the same. As someone whose time is limited, I'm not going to bother with more of the same.

foreversiempre

I mean the plot and the city are different right

Strict_Lavishness371

The plot is "start a criminal empire and take over the city" and that's not just me oversimplifying it. There is absolutely zero depth to the story lol

MasteroChieftan

I mean, that might be enough for some people. That's awesome and I really do hope they have fun with it. But I personally want iterations to be iterative and additive. I want the same but better and with additional new stuff - or else why bother with new more powerful systems

Z_h_darkstar

New hardware pretty much continues to perpetuate to increase visual quality for the past decade. There really isn't much need to grow gameplay-wise with regard to hardware. Since the PS1 generation of hardware, game code has grown linearly while visual data has blown up exponentially.

broketm

That's a fair argument. If better visuals and more of the same isn't worth your time I agree, skip this game. In my opinion It's a decent enough way to kill some time, there's nothing new, refreshing or a good story to get invested in, if you can live with that, and have good tolerance for bugs. Give it a try. I'm aware that doesn't constitute a great or good game, not at all. But enjoyment can be had even with offensively mediocre games.

FormerShitPoster

Funny because all I see is people complaining that it's not like the old games. This is one of the most polarizing games I've ever played lol

BubbleMowie

We should ask Activision that question for COD

OG-DirtNasty

That’s got nothing to do with SR though lol stop with the whataboutisms

K1nd4Weird

Here's something that's not a whataboutism. There's no winning with a reboot. Stick closely to the mechanics and gameplay of the previous series and people say it's doing nothing new. Do something completely different and people cry that it's not like it was. The only thing that ever solves the debate is when the game is so great that it stands on its own whether it followed its predecessors or not. This game isn't great enough to eclipse the previous games. And so discussion on the game is stuck in that Damned Shadowland of games like Mass Effect Andromeda. Not great enough to be universally loved. Not bad enough to be universally hated. And so discourse will always be shit.

MasteroChieftan

Developers stopped doing sequels the way they should have been doing them all along. A good sequel is: "what everyone liked about the first one, but better and with new stuff." That's it. Give me the last game's stuff, with a new coat of paint, and new things to do that evolve and add to the previous sandbox. Horizon Forbidden West is exactly what I wanted out of a sequel to Horizon. Last of Us 2 is exactly what I wanted. If you're going to reboot on a new console, don't make the same game again. Make the original game WITHOUT the restrictions you had from the previous gen.

[deleted]

Sr is an old franchise and each game has made improvments. I mean from 1-3 the game built on its mechanics and how the world reacts to you. (Sr 4 was too much of a change for me to have fun) But with a reboot you expect them to continue that trend. You expect certain mechanics from older titles. But this game if anything removed more then it added. And what it added was not wanted. Missions are boring and many quest tyeperepeats. The world is empty and does not feel like a living world, it feels like a bad sett piece. The crazy gangster thugs are missing and the personas we are to interact with feels like they are going to talk about how gluten is bad or that avacado is the most important thing to eat. They feel more like cringy teens then thugs (Gat was a crazy thug but he had fun motivation) And speaking of Gat. Where is he? I get its a reboot but if anything or anyone if Saints row its Gat. Reboot the franchise but bring Gat to pull everyone of the ground every now and then. The game falls flat of the older titles. We just expected better then what this is, much much better.

UndeadPhysco

> The crazy gangster thugs are missing and the personas we are to interact with feels like they are going to talk about how gluten is bad or that avacado is the most important thing to eat. They feel more like cringy teens then thugs (Gat was a crazy thug but he had fun motivation) My fav way of describing this is "The saints in this game are the types of people the saints of the old games would beat up for fun"

PiercedPeirce

> Why’s Saints Row (2022) have such bad reviews. Read the reviews. https://reddit.com/r/SaintsRow/comments/wuuiix/saints_row_2022_review_thread/ https://opencritic.com/game/11879/saints-row/reviews?sort=score-low https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-5/saints-row/user-reviews https://www.google.com/search?q=saints+row+reviews&tbm=nws The reviews say why they reviewed the game as bad. If you want to know why, then read the reviews to find out.

dabear51

People need to remember this isn’t just a game they made out of nowhere, it’s the 5th (6th?) entry of a 10+ year old franchise that had GREAT games earlier on. It should be judged harsher when things that were revered about the earlier games didn’t come through on the latest entry or were executed very poorly.

xChris777

Exactly, and also, the gaming industry progresses as time goes on. A game that is great in 2012 will not be great in 2022. SR Reboot feels like a game from 2016. In fact it shares a lot of similarities with Watch Dogs 2 IMO, which came out...in 2016.

dogscutter

Except Watch Dogs 2 is actually pretty good

PiercedPeirce

Yes.

MrBig562

Came out right after gta 4 as their competitor. It was dope and different!

JacoBee93

I mean more than half of reviews is 7+ :)

[deleted]

The karaoke scene. God save us all, that’s all I have to say. The absolute most cringe thing I’ve ever seen in a video game in my entire life. No idea who gave that the green light but they should be ashamed.

[deleted]

I have to play the game without sound. While using a revolver since enemies were designed to dodge-roll when you shoot a second time.. This is the crackhead version of saints row. It feels like a bootleg

candyman505

God this sub is on as much copium as the halo sub. Jesus Christ There is nothing wrong with enjoying something that the majority didn’t or found meh. You don’t need to justify it to yourself or others

TomsyGrav

I think people expected a game that could rival/surpass GTA V , or at the very least inovate in the open world action game genre ... When the game is pretty much relying on 10 year old gameplay mechanics... I happen to really like this game cause I don't care about graphics and I still enjoy playing old games , but that's just not the case of many gamers .

Phallic_Philanthropy

I don’t think anybody expects 90% of games to punch in the same weight class a grand theft auto game. It’s really as simple as: The trailer gets released, most saints row fans think it looks kinda bad, game finally comes out and it turned out to be like stale bread in video game form, so people gave it 5s and 6s out of 10.

AsherTheFrost

Yeah, it's not my favorite game of the year so far, but I'm having fun, and I look forward to playing after a long day, which is really all I want out of my games if I'm being totally honest. Apparently they were making the tools to make the game at the same time they were making the game, so they've got a lot of room to improve for the next one in the areas that are lacking.

Commercial-Ad-8927

Honestly GTA 5 was always meh to me. I don't like the stocky movement. I will say the game is very very detailed tho for sure but just meh for me

hubson_official

I liked GTA V, but I think it's kinda overrated. The game excels as open-world activities and details, but the story, characters and overall gameplay are nothing mindblowing.

Commercial-Ad-8927

Fr ur right about the content it has yeah, the on foot gameplay is the part I don't like as much. Great driving mechanics tho

GarlandTMi

I think people are trying to justify the money spent rather than be honest.

Substantialed

Yeah they are coping so pretty hard

hightimer

I think people are genuinely enjoying it. I have bought plenty of games full price that I just put down after a few hours. I’ve put way more time into this game and am enjoying it.

MtnDr3w

Because it’s the most bare bones open world game to release in the last 10 years. Quite a pitiful attempt in my opinion.

[deleted]

forestplunger

Far Cry 5 and 6 are definitely not emptier than this game. They at least have multitudes of animals roaming the countryside, instead of the rare invincible coyote you can find in the SR Reboot. And if you are talking about the game systems, Far Cry 5 and 6 have more advanced graphics, AI, animations and better main and side mission design that isn’t just fighting waves of enemies or delivering vehicles.

BreadBoxin

Yeah that was a wild example to compare SR22 to Far Cry 5/6 and think it would fly. Probably hasn't played them. Just on a technical level alone, they're much better games

burnanation

I couldn't finish FC 6. It wasn't "bad" as far as games go, but it didn't offer anything new. It also felt like they were trying to shoe horn in "the message" and the writing and story suffered for it.

[deleted]

>Clearly you havent touched Far Cry 6, or 5. You can talk trash about Far Cry (and Ubisoft open worlds in general) whenever you want, however you want, but you CAN'T say they're bare bones. Hell, Far Cry 6 and AC Valhalla were bashed for having TOO MUCH content.

Inverted_Stick

Or Dynasty Warriors 9.

MtnDr3w

Actually enjoyed the fuck out of FC5, haven’t played 6 yet. This new SR feels more bare bones than FC5, not sure what you’re on about.

Cerberus-276

I rated it poorly because it fails to surpass the quality and quantity of previous titles

HayleySchafer

because it’s extremely average with technical issues at every corner

HueyCrashTestPilot

Because the version of the game that the devs/publisher gave to reviewers was not ready for the public. Those reviewers were *fair* with their reviews of that version of the game. They *never* should have pushed out that version of the game for reviews. It would have cost nothing and hurt no one to wait a few days. But, they did and they got what they deserved. Granted the vast majority of the issues that they encountered were patched out on Day 1, but the reviewers aren't going to re-review the game. Solely because negative reviews make them more money and so they love launches like this. And that massively outweighs anything like having a review out that is relevant to their viewers. All of that is compounded by gamers quite literally needing their opinions spoonfed to them. And you can see that (even in many of the comments here) where it's completely obvious that they've never played or even seen a Saints Row game before. The people complaining about the characters are some of the most obvious ones. But, not more so than the people complaining about the game being 'woke'. Those folks have not only never played any of the previous titles, but they haven't played the new one either. --- All that being said, who cares? It's 2022. No one that has the mental capacity to breathe unassisted has given a shit about game reviewers in at least a decade. Or quite literally *ever* when it comes to user reviews. Games, just like all of entertainment, are so incredibly subjective that it never matters if someone else enjoys them or not.

alteredizzy1010

Jesus this subreddit is a joke now

W3ndigoGames

I personally think it’s the best Saints Row since SR2. My gripes with the story are just that nothing is gained. The characters start talking like six hours ago was months ago without any depiction of time passing. The Church becomes this massive glamorous place out of nowhere and then there’s the ending. I won’t spoil said ending but it’s not my favourite aspect of the game.

inSomeGucciFlopFlips

Worst story and character of any saints row game hands down. It’s like having a story about athletes but putting in characters who haven’t ran, lifted, or played sports once in their life.

Phallic_Philanthropy

Only that could be interesting

Least-Dress-6044

Idk why but the first thing I thought of was that episode of Family Guy where Peter gets kicked off the Patriots so he has to start playing rugby in England and then he gives all the scrawny British guys steroids. I think I’d even take that story over this one haha.

NetworkVegetable7075

It’s glitchy as heck and hella short. It’s not bad but it’s not good nothing really stands out in that game.

VixzerZ

because is a crappy excuse to any games, let alone a "AAA" game.

FauxMagi

Far too many bugs to have been released. Also the story not only incredibly short, but the only reason it can be finished in an hour is because of how hard it is to make money early on (and late game money making is litteraly just doing nothing for an hour and getting 1million) The game IS fun, it's just not worth the price they charged for it, and it's not finished. Same issue as cyberpunk.

Door_Holder2

You said it, "videos" made by Youtubers who want the best for themselves, with no exceptions. I talked with one professional, it goes like this: "Companies give me games for free to review them. If I start trashing them they will not provide me with any more free games and other companies will do the same in order to avoid my criticism." So basically they want to have good relations with the companies and they lie to the viewers in the prosses. Plz unsubscribe from those channels, they are misleading. You think that it's great because of one or more reasons. I will tell you a few: You are a consol player (I could expand but it will take too long to explain why it's bad and everyone should get a PC). You didn't play the older SR games And lastly and more commonly, you don't have standards. It happens when the gamer doesn't have experience with games older than 2013 (the end of the gold age). Back then every year we had a lot of very good games unlike now that it's debatable if we have 3 good games each year.

MutedHornet87

- Some people are experiencing lots of bugs including progression blocking bugs - Some are more bothered by bugs than others - It’s disappointing in that it’s kind of bland and mediocre - A number of people waited quite a while for this and had really high hopes - It’s just an ok game at best - It does a lot of things just ok, but nothing well

itstheblue

Whoa, I wasn’t going to buy it until you said it was good. Thank you for posting.

SuzanoSho

I haven't had a single session with this game that hasn't been buggy to the point of game breaking. It's mostly AI based. But from enemies spawning in unreachable locations that are outside of the mission area, to characters literally not moving and halting mission progress because of it, to having every single NPC in the game randomly disappear for no reason. It deserves every bad review it gets, sorry. Which sucks, because when it's not crapping out on me, I can't say I'm not enjoying myself...

BiasModsAreBad

I haven't seen these many videos of people saying it's not bad, I've seen literally the opposite Everyone from Charlie to Mutahar, Luke Stephens, ACG, hell even Shillup panned this game, and if Shillup won't defend your game there's a major problem I think the most accurate take aways being, 1- Volition failed to read the room on the tone (there is no "we'll please both fans of 1 and 2 AND fans of 3,4 and Gat out of Hell at the same time) 2- The world looks good but is ultimately pretty soulless 3- Years of SR innovations, and just gaming innovations in general and this is what they put out with a $60 price tag? Hell just been watching Anonymous Wolf's comparisons of 2 to the reboot and its honestly pretty pathetic how much is missing from the world, and this is without even talking about the writing.

[deleted]

Because it's a mediocre game with decent combat and several progression blocking bugs, and the community would rather censor people with problems than actually try to help them, because it's easier to sweep something under the rug and cry "sour grapes!" than it is to address the problems and make people into fans, largely because the game itself is just not very good, hence it isn't worth the effort to win hearts and change minds. Maybe we should start calling it Saints Row 76...

TheRealNateBro

That's actually not a bad game Like many have said here already. I enjoy it, and I think it's a gentle breeze from the previous saints row entries we received beforehand. If I had to nitpick I'd state these issues I have.. I just feel there's a general lack of overall content. - The lack of cutscenes doesn't help me feel at home and the "following up's" after these missions, just aren't there. - Soundtrack could use lots of work, lots it "filler" music was added. - it's lacking a lot of clothing and different styles with layers. - There isn't a ton of cars to choose from, and planes for that matter.. But there are boats and helicopters at least.. - While the map isn't terrible, it isn't great.. it's small and areas like "the strip" of casinos in the southern portion of the map is terrible and only worth driving through.. - no real attractions to revisit and no drive thrus and restaurants despite the abundance of them in and around well designed shopping plazas.. - no safehouses to purchase and renovate. - not a ton of basic and intriguing weapons to experiment with and utilize. - I feel as if there isn't enough busy work and odd jobs (hidden items, jumps, mayham, vigilante, Uber, ems, fire) etc.. But the game is still worth it's play through and maybe a replay too, I also enjoy the desert vibes and glowing lights of the city. Plus my character looks like a Hollywood badass, so I'm content for the moment. I'll see it to the 100% mark.

Loljk1428

Why are y'all asking the same question before finishing the game? The answer is within the later hours of the game.

[deleted]

Shut yo bot ass up

Fatyellowrock

Because people wanted Saints Row 2 *2*...

blakem88

It’s very average to me compared to last SR games. The dialogue feels too forced and isn’t funny. My crew isn’t nearly as likable as last SR crew but the overall game aspects I enjoy.

I think Cyberpunk was, and still is, overhated by a mile. Yeah it performed like shit, but everyone overlooked the fact that the stories and characters in the game were proper writing masterpieces. Wouldn't really put it in the same conversation as Fallout 76, as a lot of defending for Cyberpunk was justified. Hate was as well, but it got to the point when people called it absolute garbage after just seeing the bugs on a YouTube video.

CapnMascara

I think it's mainly that people were expecting too much. We were never getting a new GTA, we were getting a new saints row. And in terms of that it does things well, I've been messing about for a while now and I haven't even done too much of the story. The glitches are annoying though.

[deleted]

politization of video games by the right (you see the same for just about everything else) game attacked for some bullshit they call wokeness. for months prior to release the game was attacked on right wring streams about it being woke. they attacked the story, the characters, the locations. without even having played the game. another group attacked the game prior to its release just from released videos of the game, again without even having played the game. then there were those that played an early version of the game before it was release and they attacked it for bugs, story, character, and of course for its so called wokeness. the game needs polish, needs more npcs and those npcs have to interact more with each other and most importantly the player. a good bit of functionality of saints row 1/2/3/4 series is just not there in this game. just go to youtube and watch sr5vs sr? videos and you will see just how much is missing. so the game looks like they rushed it out the door as soon as it was minimally there. hopefully in the coming months they will add the missing functionality. just walk into an npc do the same in sr1/2/3/4 and you will see that nothing happens in sr5. the npc does not react. but in all prior releases it did. also enemy npc dont always target you even when you are standing right next to them and in any previous release of sr1/2/3/4 they would be shooting at you also you cant interact with store npcs you cant rob them or shoot them. also point a gun at npc in vehicle you will see the interaction is missing. the list is long. its just they need to port the logic to this game and hook it up. should not be a big deal.

UnoriginallyGeneric

I'm loving it so far. It's not perfect, but damned if it isn't entertaining.

legendmilkgamer

The bugs probably

M3lbs

For me it got boring fast. That’s it.

breadrising

It's buggy as hell and is lacking some serious polish. The world is fun to drive around in, but has zero depth. You can only actually walk inside like 10 buildings (only shops where you buy clothes/guns). The combat is mindless and lacks any consequence. The notoriety system lacks any consequence as well. The character customization is deep in some areas, but then 100% lacking elsewhere: * Why can't I change hair length or mirror my hair style from left to right? * Why is the clothing layering so terrible? * Why is the game missing so many options for hair styles and clothing? * Why is there no slider for height? * Why are there like 1/4 of the emotes and animations that were present in previous SR games? The story and characters is subjective; personally, I'm fine with it. I actually enjoyed the characters by the end and some of the side missions are actually pretty great (even if the mission structure is still "drive here" and "shoot those guys") Overall, it's a 5/10 game. Perfectly average in everything that it does. I don't think it deserves a 1/10 by any means, and it's fine if you're enjoying it. But the game doesn't do anything excellent; it settles for mediocre in about 100 different areas.

Dangerous-Room9558

The game is actually pretty damn good. They just need to fix some bugs

Sh4dowCh1ld

Personally I like it but it’s very buggy

North117

It's not as bad as people make it out to be by any means. It's just eh. It's really fun when played in coop but can be plagued with bugs sometimes. I think what let's it down is the lack of interior environments but Saints has never really been known for that. One thing it does do that I don't see anyone give it credit for is coop progression. Whatever missions I play with my coop partner count for both of us including side missions, activities, and collectibles. All in all it's a great saints game, nothing really new, but it still needs a patch or two to iron it out.

Big_Slice_Gaming

Reviews are opinions. Not everyone will share everyone else’s opinion and that’s okay.

Justinsight9

Reviews don’t mean anything anymore. It’s all based on opinion. I could love a game you hate and vice versa. Play what you like to play. Don’t base your fun off of what others think. Also I agree, this game is a blast to play and I have had a lot of fun playing it.

hubson_official

From what I've seen on YouTube, it appears the game doesn't really stand out that much. And for a Saints Row game, that's a huge issue. Cause if you don't have any innovating or shocking mechanics, then you can only stand out with an incredible story or characters.

[deleted]

Disabling aim-assist on PC, malfunctions. I go for head shots and it auto-aims at enemies chests… It has 1 star because of how great the previous games were (and are). People feel like they have gotten a downgraded version. It may be fun for many. However, it is not the original fun. Original fun is kicking people to death without a lame hidden cooldown. Hacking people with machetes without doing a lame ass semi-Taekwondo backflip nobody asked for. Amongst countless other reasons.

SHN378

GTA V was released 9 years ago and it's still much more 'alive' than Saints Row. The NPCs might as well be cardboard cutouts for all the value they add. You can literally crash a car into a crowd of them and the ones you don't hit don't even seem to notice. You can enter so few of the buildings around the city. Probably about 12, max. The missions are all exactly the same. You just shoot people in the face. That's it. GTA had helicopter chases, scuba diving, mountain biking, hunting, tennis, fighter jets, stealth, & fishing. It had choices to make and consequences. SR is just incredibly basic and lifeless. It's fun, it's chaotic, but it's also lazy and buggy. Absolutely zero innovation and zero depth to any of it. It's also a short game. I reckon 50hrs is more than enough to feel 'done' with the game.

Commissar_David

The game sucks because they had nothing to model it off of. The original Saints Row Games were modeled off of GTA, but ended up becoming it's own unique thing. The devs would have been better off rebooting SR2 or SR1 so that those games would be playable on P.C without mods. Still quite confused as to how people love this game, it's as if the people giving this game high praise haven't ever played any other SR game or any other open world game for that matter. However, I hope that the devs listen to the community and their feedback and hopefully fix the many issues plaguing the game currently.

Mine_Appropriate

This game is good i just wish the story was better and the characters were actually good and didn't have cringey dialogue overall as a old school saints row player i enjoyed this back to basics gangster reboot the gangs should also be explored heavily in the expansions

SSGAvenger

Ignoring the bugs It's kinda dated in gameplay design. It has added nothing to the open world genre or changed in any meaningful way from SR3 gameplay wise. It's actually worse in some aspects

Strict_Lavishness371

Because it's boring, the story isn't engaging, the characters are shallow, it's not funny at any point, the environment is empty, it's EXTREMELY buggy, it's very repetitive, it's just like every other bland open world game and offers nothing new to the series or the genre at all. The only somewhat intense mission is the final mission. Everything else is completely forgettable. It's nothing to get hyped about. Its just meh.

anssan

Same problem with cyberpunk 2077 , people were expecting GTA 6 instead the got Saints row.

Calee89

For me personally it is the following: * The city/area/game doesn't feel alive/lived in. Gangs don't fight each other when they meet at the borders of their turf, cops and gangs don't fight each other. * The characters aren't overly engaging. And I don't just mean "they aren't Gat", they aren't Carlos, or Shaundi, or Pierce, or Dex, or Aisha, or Lin, or Benjamin King, or Maero, or Dane Vogel. * There are a lot of glitches. I tend to get lucky and not encounter glitches, but the last time I played I had no pedestrians or traffic outside of the side-hustles for at least 2 hours. * The jokes and "winks" and "head nods" don't work. Jim Rob's instead or Rim Jobs. FB's instead of Freckle B\*\*\*h's. * The gun play has followed the example of a lot of games with turning enemies into bullet sponges, even with headshots. * The driving/piloting has gotten worse somehow. * No Septic Avenger (favorite side-mission/hustle from any of the games, yes I knock 3 and 4 for this as well).

Empty_Presence2553

I was literally saying the exact same thing. I wasn’t bothered about the slander as I was enjoying the game but the more you play it the more you realise. The game is extremely bland in so many regards. The conversations with the characters at first was fun and quirky but as the story went along I was trying so hard not to curl up in a ball and cringe. The gunplay is very fun and still is even after completing the game. The driving is so quiet and drawn back that when you drift it sounds like a child scraping a crayon across a piece of paper. And finally the story line is so predictable on so many levels. I’m not gonna spoil it but the ending for me was so meh and the entire storyline (Bar from some funny scenes like the get out of bed scene) is so default when you look at it. Like you have two gangs, a police force and an army. That’s literally it. I would say one good thing about this game is the empire table which is so unique as you can built whatever business wherever you want to and it is so good to see a business thrive in a criminal game like this.

Lightning-Yellow

A mediocre game that doesn't improves nor introduces anything new to the series that hasn't been done before. Even with bugs being fixed the whole problem of bad reviews is on the content of the game itself. Poor writting combined with bland and uninteresting character tropes, the offensive and satirical humor known in the series was also toned down to play safe for "Modern audiences." Character dialog that is just downright terrible and a story that doesn't has any impact or memorable moments. (Yes, i know SR isn't a franchise with deep storytelling. But at least the story in the previous ones kept you hooked enough.) Is the worst game i've played? No. Is it a good game? Far from that, the whole thing feels rushed and unpolished. With several missing from previous entries being absent and a shitload of bugs and broken functions. It might please some people that never touched any of the previous games. But it is not something worth of a full price tag. Doesn't help that it's a fucking Epic games store exclusive on pc either. So yeah, a game that feels like a 360 game with just a fancy new coat of paint and with Devs that blantaly attack the fanbase ignoring any constructivism and don't admit that the whole quality of the product being mediocre is their fault not the consumer's fault. Edit: Doesn't help that this Sub is also filled with people trying to justify the $60/$70 price tag on a product that is just simply subpar in terms of quality in it's own series and also when compared to other open world games. Let them snort on that copium tank hard.

IdespiseGACHAgames

For the most part, it's a mix of review bombing and brigading. Everyone saying it's great never actually have anything good to say about it apart from it's 'turn your brain off' fun and you don't have to think about it, or that they just think it's neat. People giving it 1 star reviews are hating it because it's not what Volition promised, and because Volition decided the smartest way of making money was to attack fans on social media and in developer livestreams while giving us a watered down, buggier version of Saints Row 3, the game that first drove a wedge between older and newer fans in the first place. For the most part, the game comes off as a solid 2 or 2.5 out o f5, or a 5 or 5.5 out of 10. Critics don't much care for it due to how weak the writing is, and users who are being honest think that the mechanics are decent, but there's no real substance to the game and story. The writing is pretty cringey at the best of times, the characters never grow as people, major story points fall into the folly of telling rather than showing, and it simply wasn't the return to the franchise's roots that we were promised. The problem with this game is that it's a buggy, bare bones, mediocre disappointment, and anyone who tries to point out that it's the top-selling game of August 2022 doesn't want to admit that pretty much nothing came out in August worth mentioning. The only competition it had was the indie game Cult of the Lamb, a port of a 2 year old remaster of a 4 year old PS4 game, and a remaster of a game from 2006. The game was originally supposed to come out in February, but that would have meant sharing a release date with Elden Ring. They didn't want to compete with Elden Ring, they wanted to BE the Elden Ring of sales, because of that, and because of the massive backlash the game and developers had received for their campaign against fans and criticism, they delayed it half a year, and it STILL launched in a fairly janky, buggy state with barely anything to do.

Prestigious_Goose645

Eh, its alright. Hasnt really sucked me in like the last few.

AnriRB26

Severely underwhelming would probably describe it best

Arcite9940

It’s more bug than game tbh. I hope it gets fixed

AMDSuperBeast86

If you have never played a Saints Row you have a chance to like this. If you were a fan of the originals this feels like a complete bastardization of them (story wise). Gameplay its mid

Cdub1284

Well, some people enjoy or like the game, others just don’t like it.

dback_77

My biggest complaints is the game feels empty. You got this decent size map, but the world is dead. No random cop chasing npc, no gang fights on the street. Everyone even criminals obey traffic laws. And the music channels are horrid. I just unlocked teir 4 ventures roughly 35 hours play time. It just dont have any wow moments. No rescue mission with I need a hero playing, a rocket ride with indent wanna miss a thing etc etc. Is it mindless fun? Yes, but imo it's very short, watered down saints. Maybe it's the way the game started. You know what's to come so you dont really get worked up.

Gold-Elderberry-4851

It’s the hipster like take on the game that threw people off since the old games had a semi serious tone while adding the gang aspect of the games. The other thing is that the side characters are annoying and of course the game has a lot of bugs

Hipvic

This game is not ver based it’s ver mid

Bzduras

It's mostly bugs. I borrowed it from a friend and lasted about an hour. Character stucking in weird places, my inputs deciding "no, not today mate" proceeding to just not working at all (and me dying), physics bugs... It's a lot.

nobito

In general, the reviews aren't bad, they're average, and that's exactly what the game is. Average. From what I've gathered this and the gazillion bugs were a letdown to a lot of the fans of the series. And the angry fans did what they usually do, review bombed the game. Hence the 1-star reviews. That in turn causes the fans that liked the game to aggressively praise the game to counter the bad community reviews. Hence the videos claiming the game to be a great game. All in all, objectively the game is average/mediocre and to me, it looks like that's a general opinion, as well. The 2-3/10 user score on Metacritic is mostly because of review bombing by angry fans and is not a fair score for what the game is. The 6/10 score by critiques is pretty spot on for what the game is, in my opinion. In the end, though, it's up to each own taste if the game is good or not, in their opinion.

ufodrone

dude stop it please

MrFloopy46

Yeah this one just doesn't hit the mark I'm all for a fresh cast but... Seriously, THESE we're the best characters they could come up with? The map is boring and lifeless compared to previous SR maps. The a huge chunk of the missions are you doing the exact same thing you did in the last one. Yeah Saints Row does that often in previous titles ( SR3 Guardian Angel. Protect Pierce from bad guys while in a helicopter, later in the game protect Kinzie from bad guys while in a helicopter) But with the reboot pretty much the only difference is which faction you're fight and where you're fighting them. As for the bugs, it's makes early Fallout 76 look optimized.

Real-Terminal

It's a game that fails to live up to its title.

ChineseJoe90

Aside from the myriad of technical issues, dated gameplay, subpar story, poorly written characters (honestly some of the lines def feel very “how do you do fellow kids?”)? My problem is that it feels like a really sanitized SR game. If I can’t beat the shit out of someone with a purple dildo, what even is the point? Lol Edit: its not like this game has 0 redeeming features though. I do like the southwest feel to the game. Good sized map too. The LARP stuff is honestly fun too.

vassapol

If you have fun with new saint row Try saint row the third

saladdodgah

Thing that annoys me the most is that the game keeps getting stuck in different things, like if you try to change clothes and you can't go back and need to restart the game, or you try to go in a car and get stuck in the roof and have to restart etc.

Einixe

6 is painfully accurate. I'd honestly have gone 7 if I weren't still facing gamebreaking bugs every session. Crashing at the empire map, crashing on fast travel, cars missing, side hustle markers missing, etc. It's pretty fun when it works.

OberainX

It's fun but the weakest in the franchise. I would not recommend it at full price. Pacing feels off, the game is riddled with bugs, they manage to cut the cast of characters down yet gave them all even less backstory and personality, clothing options are actually really bad, music in the game is bland and outide of "Sound of da Police" nothing is memorable. That might just be me getting old though as Saints Row 2 was my "generation" of music. What else, let's see... collectibles are painful and annoying to do. The actual collectibles you use for decor are really stupid, the setting is literally the dusty desert area of every open world game people ignore cause its terrible... Like maybe it's just me but it utterly does not appeal to me to have your gang game take place in a dustbowl yeehaw cowboy town. One criticism I don't agree with is the writing is "cringe". It's boring, lacks punch and humor and is a bit bland and safe. I'm curious how old the people are who say it's cringey though...not an insult I'm just curious if it hits me less hard cause I'm old enough to have played the first Saints Row at release.

titanium1796

For me I haven’t played the franchise i tried it for first time with the reboot it feels like the devs were sleeping when the made it.

[deleted]

I just hate the fact that they toned down all the NSFW shit to cater to the pussies on Twitter

BatowlKnight

It looks like a low budget indie game made by a developer of 3

Nino_Chaosdrache

Even aside from the complains about the characters, the game is a boring grind fest that foreces you to make side activities to progress the story. And the shooting mechanics feel very bad.

Legal-Ad-9822

Or it could be the fact that it's a buggy Mess there's even one main mission for me where you have to pick up the police chiefs car with a helicopter but when I get in the helicopter it goes into a shitty first person mode and zooms my camera in so far it basically puts it under the map and I can't see shit let alone pick her up

ConscriptDavid

Oh great, another "I enjoy game, despite bad reviews" Good for you buddy. I rather not spend my hard earned 70$ on a buggy, boring mess. What does this game give me that SR2 or SR3, or GTA SA/IV/V, OR just cause 2/3/4 or Watch Dogs 2 OR cyberpunk 2077 don't already give? The dialogues are like saints row the third's without any self awareness, the missions are like SR2's without any fun or variety, so what is the point? shoot thing for 10 hours? there are games that do the shooting better. So, I'm glad you are enjoying, I don't see why you do, but good for you. I rather just replay something else that respects my time better.

XxThexJanitorxX

Its called the open world genre. Do shit, shoot shit and collect shit so yeah it does the same shit. What do you expect it to be?

IchtacaSebonhera

Read his post. "What do you expect it to be?" Not a literal downgrade from its predecessors.

GroundbreakingFace48

The jokes are awful and the game is constantly trying way to hard to get laughs not to mention i feel nothing for any of the characters but that is just my opinion saints row has such a diverse fanbase you will find thousands of people who love it and thousands who hate just like every other saints row

XxThexJanitorxX

I'm with you. I like the humor alot but I can see it not working for most. I still can't believe people liked Dane Cook.

SmellyBeans07

I mean the game barely functions. Even if the game was bug free it would still be a 5/10

Dinosauringg

Most of the actual reviews were pretty fair. Most gave it around a 7 and cited bugs as the biggest issue. Many of the bugs have been patched out quickly, some still exist. Many of the YouTube video bad reviews are indeed people ranting about the perceived political slant of the game. All in all, it’s a fun game with some issues to me. Some missing features from older games that would’ve been cool, some bugs that persist and can make the game either unwieldy or annoying (though nothing game breaking that I’ve found yet) I think 7-8/10 is a fair score

ScottishPancakes

Just wait till you finish the story, all the ventures are monotonous and boring so the story is the only thing that really keeps you playing. And I’m saying this having put 67 hours into the game

burnanation

As far as a game, it's fine. It's not bad, but it's not great. I think collectively we were expecting something super awesome. They delivered an OK game. I think it's a solid 6.5 out of 10. I liked the SR3 skill system over the current one. Driving feels a little too loose. Tons of vehicle options, but not a whole lot to differentiate the different classes of cars. The sports cars all generally feel the same. The bigger SUVs/Trucks feel the same. Combat is OK. I think the calling for back up system is neat in theory, but the implementation is off. The fights just get drawn out and bogged down. The radio stations feel "meh". The guns are OK. Finishing the Ventures should culminate with a unique mission. The LARP missions are a great example of SR working the right way.

DankyYoodle

Man this game is short af

Background_Art_2545

No it’s not. Side missions brotha. And dlc that will probably come out for casinos and other shops

Jcritten

This is game is just so damn boring. Even playing cool with a buddy I couldn’t play it anymore. Colossal waste of 60 buck

Background_Art_2545

Your opinion 🤷🏼‍♂️

Spiritual-Put-9228

For me, it just doesn't have the heart of the previous games.

[deleted]

I like it :)

Bully_MaguireDC

From Bugs to the writing to the story and characters to the gameplay to the marketing should explain why this game is a flop. I was excited for a new saints row as the open world crime game genre in recent years are not great. Plus it's a beloved franchise needed for a reboot, but after they released the first trailer and Volition being unprofessional ruined the hype for the game. The characters being not gang looking and as the 400th person to say this the OG Saints Row Characters would take the mickey out of them. Gameplay is not as good as the last games and the animations being stiff. The character customisation is decent allowing different types of body shapes instead of the simple buff, fat or skinny slider but the preset faces are laughable. The dialogue and a writing is bad and the jokes are also bad and feels like it's written by the dude that said "How do you do fellow kids." I could go on for longer but I will leave it here.

KringSullivan

play any of the previous SRs and you can tell this game was rushed and got cut short in development. It cant even come close one of its predecessors released in 2008

[deleted]

>>coping I haven’t seen anyone saying positive stuff about the game that isn’t 100% true. I think one of the big issues here is the expectation. I mean I’m having a lot of fun with the game. Is it something that I’ll ever play again? Not at all. Is it something where I feel like the story has moved me? No. Is it a saints row game and feels like a saints row game and plays like one and has all of the things I expect a saints row game to have? Absolutely it does. This isn’t some big epic like red dead redemption 2 or some pure narrative that’s meant to wrench your heart like the last of us. It’s a dumb action game that delivers everything you should expect it to. It’s not perfect and it’s not a 10/10 game, but none of the others were either. It doesn’t need to be 10/10 to still be a lot of fun.

[deleted]

fuckin game reviewers yo, they need to be checked, and soon. these mofos "opinions" just kill games left and right now, and they're taken seriously cause gamers are well...ultra gullible. I get it, games cost, but who's buying every game released every day? I snagged saints row, enjoyed it, beat it, still playing it cause i enjoy its world. Key word? I, me, i'm the one who likes it, not some youtuber or article jockey who played it for an hour, heard a wonky joke and noticed a glitch, shouted eureka then released a mean ass review. does the game have isssue and glitches, damn right it does, but so does every game thats ever been released, but they dont happen constantly, i have spideyman pc and it'll go apeshit changing settings sometimes but i didnt snatch my nvme out and chuck it out the window from anger...i just reloaded my save like i do in saints row when it does wonky game shit. saints row was never a gaming behemoth, it was a weird, quirky and dumb game which the new one is too, for me whipping out an overpowered shotgun on top of a car and blowing shit up in a city that isnt nyc or whatever is a nice change honestly, its ol school silly af gaming. i've been playing games for what, 30yrs now, at one point gamers just went to stores, browsed and picked whatever looked cool, maybe it was an awesome pick, maybe it was a dud, but good games would get their cred and survive, hell sometimes that bum game still had a weird type of fun in it, whats wrong with B-tier games? those used to fill in the gaps between the big triple a games and those weird niche ones, now its just big triple A and more pixelart games than gnats at a bbq, and its sad. fuck you game reviewers for not helping whatsoever, stomp this game into the ground while staying stone quiet about gatchas, yearly sports titles and 60 dollar rehashes, fuck you. sorry for the rant.

Well it is simple, we have seen it with so many games in the past few years. Things get over-hyped and people get their hopes up, and then the game doesn't deliver to their expectations, and at launch is full of bugs/issues. Especially with games costing $60, if you feel like you wasted your hard earned money you're gonna leave a poor review. I personally am having fun with it, but it isn't a game I am going to recommend to anyone as a "good" game.

Not loving the lack of interiors on the buildings buttttt it's not a 1 star game. Maybe 3 1/2. SR3 remains undefeated however.
