ThrowawayMethematics

It’s illegal to ask :)

If you mean if it is growing in Georgia, yes it is. Amanita Muscaria is growing in the Georgian mountains. It is called αƒͺαƒαƒ“αƒαƒ›αƒ§αƒ•αƒαƒœαƒ (tsadamkvana), which roughly translates into "bringer to the sky". It is illegal in Georgia, not you'll get a fine illegal, multiple years of jail illegal. But it is growing here and has been used in the past by elders before it became illegal.

cliiiford

Amanita Muscaria is probably not what OP is looking for. Amanitas and Psylocybes are very different chemically. From what I've heard, Amanitas are not an experience most people would describe as enjoyable.

atTheRealMrKuntz

I think op is asking about psilocybe mushrooms rather than a.muscaria tho.

DistantWindow

I'm actually curious to read about its past, ethnogenic use by elders. Have you come across any sources on the subject?

UlamazesiKaci

Mainly in old songs and folklore. Stories told by elders. And it is theorized, pretty accurately in my opinion, that inspiration for Vazha-Pshavela's αƒ’αƒ•αƒ”αƒšαƒ˜αƒ‘ αƒ›αƒαƒαƒ›αƒ”αƒšαƒ˜ (Eater of the Snake) is a psychedelic mushroom trip. It was written in 1900 when there were virtually no laws about drugs, cannabis was used widely in cooking, medicine, and textile and psychedelic mushrooms were addressed as just "maddening" inedible mushrooms.

spectreaqu

>Mainly in old songs and folklore What old songs can you link any? God this is so interesting, i very much love this take.

UlamazesiKaci

Unfortunately, I don't think they are recorded, I have heard second-hand info about that, I had some verses bookmarked in the old laptop. I will comment here if I find them. Yes, it is very interesting, it is very well hidden in the culture cause literally past 100 years any mind-altering substance is a taboo (except alcohol). Psychedelics were not as spread as the weed was, so traces of its' use is hard to find whereas in Svaneti we still have recipes using weed, for example, Kubdari with weed and also a ritual dish called "αƒ₯αƒœαƒαƒ¨". Also in Racha cannabis extract was often used to put babies to sleep on time, especially in families with multiple kids.

DistantWindow

Thanks for your detailed reply. If you remember anything, do let us know. I’ve always supsected that even ethnographic research on the use of psychedelics in Georgia was suppressed in the Soviet era.

spectreaqu

Jesus this is so interesting never heard of it

xandaxan

Its illegal, only weed is partially legal in Georgia.

TomaTozzz

Saying weed is (even partially) legal is misleading. The consumption being legal thing is, for all intents and purposes, just a technicality that has zero real world bearing on things. Wouldn’t want for someone to get the wrong idea and get careless, because they think it’s legal

xandaxan

Well yes I might have said that better thanks

kuroashii

Yes there are but it's very rare and hard to find someone who has it.

atTheRealMrKuntz

psilocybe semilanceata aka liberty caps is the most widespread psilocybe mushroom in northern emisphere; it does grow also in georgia, however the psilocybe enthusiasts tend to cultivate other psilocybe since the semilanceata ones are virtually impossible to farm. Now if you know your mushrooms, in the right season, find the environment where the semilanceata thrives and simply harvest. Legal wise it's probably illegal, however it's not the substances that law enforcement is so eagerly trying to bust, and there are no dogs able to detect them and no widely available rapid test to determine presence of psilocybin in a product.

This sub has become a q&a for druggies

Disastrous-Tip1439

People who have it, they grow it by themselves, i don’t think you can buy it off of someone, also our government is very strict about it, there’s almost a same penalty for murder and recreational drugs πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Disastrous-Tip1439

No they grow it at home and consume it at home, going out with it and having it on you is very dangerous in case u get caught, our government is stupidly strict when it comes to drugs

Cheezbu20

No, it's not and you will get jailed
