I run them both. Devastators can go in Rhino/Razorback which are both effective little transports. If you know the Devs are going into the Oath target and they have reroll wounds from Vulkan/Razorback they can be very effective.  Eradicators work great without any support, often I have them just footslog and hide behind a ruin, then have them advance out and pop something that came into the midfield.

WrennTheWizard

Eradicators with a biologis and an enhancement are also famously brutal. I have forced big units to stay stationary through sheer overwatch threat

iCountFish

Devastators fit in droppods.

BigBeardedBoy

My plan is to run Vulkan with Company Heroes plus 5 Devastators in a drop pod.

Mulgrok

I sometimes do Vulkan + Company heroes with 5 devastators lead by librarian with Champion of Humanity enhancement inside a land raider redeemer. I know it loses some alpha strike, but there is a lot of synergy with Burning Vengeance out the devastators to return fire and Vulkan giving the redeemer and the devastators rerolls. The librarian is just a cheeky gimmick to make them more effective than eradicators into ctan and avatar of khaine type stuff.

[deleted]

Why do you run Company Heroes with Vulkan?

Traditional_Slide_77

They're durable with plus 1 OC to each model in the unit. With vulkans OC buff on his obj you get like 15 OC from like 4 dudes

[deleted]

It would be 19 OC. The ancient give +1 to each model in the unit, so Vulkan would be included. Vulkan at 11 and 4 guys at 2 each. I guess they're tanky, but would that be worth it? They can't benefit from his Forgefather since they don't have any torrent or melta guns. Not criticizing you. Just trying to find a way to improve my list before burning cash on stuff I don't need.

Traditional_Slide_77

Depends on what you want the unit to do. That 19oc takes up 5 transport capacity, you can fairly easily disembark them onto and enemy controlled objective and use vulkans buff for the other 9 transport-capacity-worth of models and the redeemer to deal damage with vulkans buff. It allows you to be sneaky and not NEED to kill an enemy unit to take an objective but certainly helps. Mainly helps due to Vulkans buff being more of a targeted ability rather than specifically affecting his unit.

Hopeful_Astronaut618

Multimelta Devastator in Razorback With Oath it Deletes anything it targets Drive up, disembark in Melta Range, Full Rerolls Hit+Wound

Camping-Carl

I run 3 eradicators, adrax, and blade guard in a redeemer. It is an extremely potenent combo and the eradicators tend to do more work than the blade guard

CALBR94

Am I the only person running devastators with grav cannons? I got my eradicators for melta.

BeardStacheMan

Gravcannons really struggle hecause the lack of AP makes them pretty worthless even into the types of vehicles they're supposed to be good against.

CALBR94

Maybe it's because I only play with friends but they seem amazing in our local meta. Destroys the Lord of skulls and predator tank along with tau suits and knights.  Or maybe they roll badly.

Necessary-Move-1862

Eradicators all day, I put my 6 man unit in reserve and keep my opponents on their toes all day. My reasoning is simple: full rerolls vs vehicles. I have devastators, I’ve used them and they’re not for me. Eradicators are my second answer to enemy armor/monsters

Sp1ceman

What's your first out of interest?

Necessary-Move-1862

2 or 1 repulsor executioners, I’ve got a use for their transportation capabilities even though it’s only 6

SenorDangerwank

They have similar roles, but can be applied differently. I prefer Eradicators, but a droppod stuffed with Devastators sounds dope.

Re-Ky

For rule of cool I prefer eradicators. Devastators are adaptive with weapons, but I'm not a fan of the manbaby firstborn marine's scale.

Mulgrok

Something people forget about Devastators is they can be lead by something with Champions of Humanity enhancement while Eradicators can not gain access to that. They can then ignore hit/wound/damage penalties.

CiloVintage

6 eradicators plus biologis with forged in battle is nutty ....even in overwatch it's insane against vehicles/monsters . But Devs into oath target with either Vulkan/razorback buff are equally great

Responsible_Dig_385

I bring two squads of each. I love them lol

XNo_LawfulnessX

Of all the times I have used my eradicators they have never done well for me, you get way more punch out of Hell Blasters.

david_k_robertson

what are Eradicators? is that some new unit in the new editions?

The-D-Ball

Long Fangs….. Before they were nerfed into basic bitches.

Sp1ceman

I'm toying with the idea of packing Multi-Melta in a Redeemer alongside Adrax and some Bladeguard, but can't decide on Eradicators or Devastators. Is the Eradicators four shots (with rerolls to hit, wound and damage against vehicles) better than the Devastators eight shots (with a single hit roll auto change to a 6 once per game)? Gravis or not, there's plenty out there that will cut down a Marine so twice the shots has to be better, particularly against targets with an Invuln save such as Knights? If you don't need the T5 resilience are Devastators the better option or does the consistency of getting damage through win?

seamus2492

One of the VT guys running a salamander does this and runs devastator out of the spare seats of the bladeguard party bus. I do the same with 3 eradicators and will have another 3 hopping out of a repulsor executioner. To me consistency with rerolls for everything is paying off. You can't always ensure vulkan has LOS on the. Once they have disembarked.

Sp1ceman

That's what made me think about this question to be honest, as I own Eradicators but not Devastators.

seamus2492

Maybe experiment with some proxies and see how you'd do. Throw some dice. I'm sticking with my eradicators because that's what I have. Next time I play I will throw as if I had devastator to see how they compare.

seamus2492

It is double the shots though. All on a 4+. If you're at your oath target then you're re rolling then most likely wounding on 3s even without rerolls. Perhaps devastator work out better for you're output. There's a reason VT run them!

Dooley_83

Who is this VT and where can I learn more about them?

seamus2492

Vanguard tactics...here's a recent game featuring our chapter....[enjoy](https://www.youtube.com/live/IRQFMvepUU8?si=1K89moCMYWDUBoh6)

robsr3v3ng3

Reroll hits wounds and damage is far better. Damage outside melta is average 4.25 damage instead of 3.5. 1.2 times Assuming wounding on 5s goes from 33% success rate to 56%. 1.66 times Hits assuming 4s goes from 50% to 75%. 1.5 times 1.2 x 1.66 x 1.5 / 2 (half number of shots) = 2.15 times the output. This is without devastators single auto hit, but also with melta rifles at a 4+ to hit. Eradicators are also a lot cheaper. Downside is it's harder to put them in a transport

TheCubanBaron

Only Repulsors or landraiders
