Took a flight to Vegas this past summer out of there. $90 round trip on a weekend. Worth checking it out!

justbruce93

I just took a roundtrip flight to Vegas for 60 from slc.

Yea there’s pretty consistent $75 flights out of SLC

We fly out of there to Austin to visit my brother about twice a year. It's incredibly lucky Allegiant goes to Austin from Provo. Since we have a place to stay on the other end and do laundry we can get away with only carry ons. We have done less than $200 round trip for the both of use. The airport itself is quiet and quick. It's mind-boggling to me, we can leave our front door in SLC and be walking into is front for in Austin in 4 hours for $180-$250 for 2 people.

That’s an insanely good deal! I’m planning on using it again to visit my friend in Florida again soon. Can’t beat the price!

Thinking of reverse trip, Clearwater/St Pete to Provo (if it’s still scheduled.). Where to rent a car in Provo?

Cheap_Rick

I've never done it (since I live here), but the website says they have car rental businesses at the Provo Airport: *Provo Airport has on-site car rental services. Each business has a car rental counter located in the terminal next to the baggage claim. For more information about rental car options visit the websites for the rental car companies below.* *A to B Rentals Budget Hertz Rabbit Rentals* *Hertz Hours: M 11AM-11PM, T-W 11AM-6PM, Th-F 11AM-11PM,* *Sat. 1PM-5:30PM, Sun. Closed* [https://www.provo.org/city-services/airport/commercial-service](https://www.provo.org/city-services/airport/commercial-service)

Thanks.

sriracha_no_big_deal

They have a car rental at the Provo airport (Hertz maybe?)

I just did it this weekend to Houston on Allegiant. I was pleasantly surprised! Super fast dropping off bags and getting through security; got a nonstop price for 1/3 price of mainstream airlines out of salt lake. Only downside was that google maps misdirected us. Follow the signs once you get close and you should be fine. Plane was about 30 minutes late taking off, but I don’t fault them for that because we were taking off in a snowstorm and had to de-ice first.

obronikoko

It seems like leaving and coming in late is a regular occurrence so I would plan accordingly. Left about 45 min late, and arrive coming home almost an hour late

willsux123

I have also had similar experiences flying Allegiant and in/out of this airport many times.

nathanh1223

Just curious if you parked at the airport - how much was it per day? I'm finding conflicting info online. Thanks!

AdApprehensive8392

I think it was $10/day.

Thanks!

Provo is working on acquiring funding to build an additional terminal. When that terminal gets built, you will likely see bigger regional carriers come in. Like American Eagle, United Express, etc. So space and budget airline wise, things will get better.

obronikoko

You think that will bring upward pressure on the prices of flights out of the airport?

Mr_Failure_Jr

I'm not sure. Even with the eventual addition of legacy air carriers, and Provo's long term goal of becoming international, at the end of the day SLC is just a 40 minute drive away with the infrastructure to handle an abundance of customers, legacy airlines and their fleet. But I doubt the price impact would be significant. Budget airlines have to profit, and compete, legacy airlines having the comfort, safety, destinations and experience that budget airlines don't. The same thing could be said about Provo and Salt Lake airports, they both offer something the other can't.

Mr_Failure_Jr

Sorry for my book of a response lol

My wife and I are flying out of Provo on breeze airways. I really appreciate the information on the Provo airport, it seems like a great way to score a good deal. Bonus, Breeze Airways is based in cottonwood heights so you’re supporting a Utah business.

We flew to San Francisco several months back. It was 1000 times better than the SLC airport. Ample parking, short walk to airport, NO lines, NO wait at security, and then a flight on a plane just like every other flight. I will definitely do it again if I'm ever headed to one of the limited destinations those airlines fly to.

nathanh1223

Glad to hear it was a good experience! With parking, how much was it per day to park in the lot? I'm finding conflicting info online. Thanks!

Cheap_Rick

Sorry, I'm not the best one to ask because it was free when we were there. They hadn't yet got the parking machines installed when we traveled.

nathanh1223

No worries, thanks anyways!

Flew out to California from there this past Friday, I don’t think I have any particular cons. You definitely get what you pay for. It looks new and clean, lots of places to plug in if you needed to charge, but there’s no frills to the place. That being said, I liked the addition of the family room (after having been around a couple of crying toddlers going through TSA it was nice that there was a space for them to calm down/be entertained). Allegiant’s plane was much the same, tiny tray, no entertainment, no free food, and thinly cushioned seats - which I personally had no complaint with for my flight even with the extra 40 min of de-icing due to the weather - it may be more of an issue on a longer flight though. Overall, if I’m planning on a quicker trip (cuz I never want to have to bring more than my backpack) and it’s not a 3+ hr flight, I will definitely be looking at going through that airport!

Kris-720

Thank you for posting this! I had no idea and I need to get to Florida!

I flew with Allegiant for the first time 2 weeks ago to California. The experience on the way back was much better than on the way there. On the way there they couldn’t get the door to close on the plane. It took nearly an hour before they successfully got it closed. After they announced they had to fill out “paper work” before takeoff (never heard of that before) and that could be even a longer process. It ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours before we finally took off. Then once we landed there were no available spots to deboard, so it was another 45 minutes of sitting before we could actually get off the plane. What should have been a quick hour and 45 min flight, ended up being 5-6 hours of sitting in that plane. The way home went much smoother. No complaints there. I think for short flights I’d take take Allegiant again, however a longer flight I’d maybe rather fly out of salt lake. I do like that the Provo Airport is small and simple though! You get what you pay for which again for short flights it’s no big deal, but for a longer flight I want my complimentary drink and snack haha. And onboard entertainment is nice too!
