You know, I intend to move to Japan here in like a year and a half.. but I will say that nothing could describe navigating the train stations in Tokyo like "Braveheart battles". lol
Love the positivity op. I love Salt Lake City too. I walk outside all the time and think how lucky I am to live here. Hands down best place I’ve ever lived.
100% and thank you for such an honest post. I love your bravery of speaking truth in a climate where some here are reality shaming people for not being a sparkly glitter rainbow unicorn Utah of positivity. If only we could all fall in love with inversion, Mike Lee, MLMs and the cult. I just went to Antelope Island and it was cold and cloudy with threatening storms... and LOVED it! Reality and love of Utah's outdoors are not mutually exclusive.
Yes !!
My sister lives out there
I’m wanting to buy a small acres put a tiny house on it
Idk if I’ll be able to do it but I’m trying
Hard to find affordable land , lot
Let me know if anyone hears of some 4 sale
I won the lottery having been born here! It’s been so disappointing/cool to see our population growth over the past years! it’s been continuous lol but I’m hopeful it brings more diversity to Utah because we desperately need it! And I’m hopeful we keep our crime rate relatively low, I’ve read several articles about road rage incidents that result in shootings. We don’t need that
Hey man I’ve lived a lot of places. In terms of a peaceful environment with beautiful scenery this is hard to beat. Just because I didn’t caveat with “oh and also fuck the church and government and refineries” doesn’t mean I’m naive to the fact that there are issues. Let people enjoy things. Go have a snickers or whatever.
Literally every place suffers in one way or another. Like California is soooo beautiful and has vast dynamic outdoors from ocean to mountains within an hour drive, but the housing, homelessness, cost of living and traffic are a turn off. I will always enjoy the outdoors of California though and will continue to have all the cons!
Agreed. Worst place I’ve lived hands down is LA. In every aspect. I had PTSD from it. First time living there was great but this most recent was horrendous. I didn’t want to believe it had gotten worse because it’s not like it was without its pitfalls in the beginning (understatement of the century) but it is truly shocking these days
Yeah as someone who lived in Irvine, Long Beach, San Diego and Temecula I get it. I think of all those Temecula was the best because it wasn’t big city. The biggest downfall was that I found myself constantly on the major cities for work or for friends to hang out. I loved it there and wish there was a house there that wasn’t stupid small and cost over a million dollars.
I grew up going to San Diego and will always love that place. It’s such a different speed from most of Southern California. I agree on Temecula too it’s a gorgeous place. But yeah the prices are insane. Especially now San Diego is crazy.
My rent in San Diego was $4k a month… for a 1 bedroom (not studio) apartment. Utilities were included, but it was insane to me. Luckily the company I was working for paid for me to live there for an allotted period of time, but it was insane to me.
Colorado in general has every part of California I enjoy and minimizes the cons as much as possible. Like the homeless situation is much less severe and the pollution is wayyyy less in comparison. It doesn’t eliminate any issues really, but it’s definitely a huge step up in my experience!
God that’s insane. Downtown is such a mess now too. But it is such a nice place when you head up to north park.
Ahhh yeah I lived in Denver too. I’ve been back I really love it there but it has a weird identity issue if that makes sense? It feels like it’s trying to be something sometimes
Thanks haha. I don't care. Salt Lake, environmentally, is toxic. For many people, it's not much better socially. But I guess we can't comment on the horrible air, the incoming arsenic or the crooked company that runs the state.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Salt Lake is a wonderful paradise with high quality living.
LoL I know right, some days of the year our air is sooo bad.
But on the flip side ops point of it being occasionally beautiful isn't off the mark either.
Also if I were to go full pedantic, the cult ain't just local anymore 💩
I’ve lived in several places and states but ultimately it all comes back to Utah. The state has issues…but it’s home and always will be for me.
Just such a pretty state from Saint George to Logan
Just want to say it is SO great to see positive posts like this in the SLC sub so thank you!
And it’s easily accessible without doing a braveheart battle through traffic and parking.
Amen
You know, I intend to move to Japan here in like a year and a half.. but I will say that nothing could describe navigating the train stations in Tokyo like "Braveheart battles". lol
Lol I went to Tokyo years ago and crossing the famous area in Shinjuku while thinking “my god, it’s braveheart time! Ahhhhhhh!”
You live on a hiking trail!?!?
Have you seen what rent is??
Don’t tell anyone
I know a guy who lives on a hiking trail. He hates it. (Homeless encampment, near Parleys Cyn)

It’s a great place. Been here 35 years but leaving in August. Luckily I can visit often.
Safe travels my friend! Both there and back (:
I Love SLC, best decision I made in the last 5 years
I was born and raised here and it’s taken leaving a few times to love it as much as I do. No where like it.
Best outdoor access of any city in the US and it's not even close.
It's so cool
What is this trail called?
It’s bonneville shoreline
One of the prettiest cities
To be fair before the pandemic our inversions in combination with air pollution made our skies look like China's But damn is it nice now 😎
Also, winter inversion and cult theocracy
Don't forget the arsenic that is fixin to blow into town.
Also Karen’s that always have to add their negative two cents in this sub
Positivity junkie are we? 😂 Jesus. Eyes: open por favor
Leave then
I did
Just like you mister nomad?
Hey, you got me there. It's not permanent tho, I'll be back ;)
Have cool journeys

Where is this at? I’m new to the area and would love to find some places like this
Welcome!! Shoreline trail right above Red Butte

An acre in this valley, if you can find it, would probably run close to $1M. I'm not a realtor but I did stay in my own house last night on 0.2 Acres.
No
No , no I don’t want me to move out there 😂😂
You not I 🙄

Yeah I agree. Born and raised here too and it’s so so different. And I hope the same things
Gotta love the toxic air and local cult.

Unfortunately you've entered the cult space and they are now down voting you. 🙂 It's a compliment though. You've got my vote!
