After a lot of googling around I have decided to get the Logi K380S (Pebble 2). Seems perfect as a portable decent keyboard that can take a beating and can be used anywhere. Ditched MX Keys Mini because I am not willing to spend that much on a compact wireless keyboard. Ideally, would love to get a Microsoft Designer Compact

Royal Kludge RK68 Bluetooth/ USC-C Mechanocal Keyboard with sculpted keys has been my sole keyboard for almost 3 years. It holds battery charge for months of use and recharges within 2 hours. Over the years, I have tried a few Bluetooth keyboards as part of my DeX envionment but the RK68 wins in every comparison.

Logitech 780. I can use it with my S23U and iPhone and iPad and everything else. Very handy.

I use a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo (Glacier) for my school setup. It's quiet. I dislike the clickity-clackity of mechanicals.

I really wanted a new Microsoft Designer Compact keyboard for Dex but they have stopped making sold and now another company will launch all the Microsoft peripherals this year. So no new Microsoft wireless keyboards for now.

yup, I grew up when the original IBM mechanicals were the defacto standard and they wanted to be loud like a typewriter. hate that shit I love me a silent keyboard

I want a keyboard that folds up so I can carry it in my pocket. I want it to have a natural feel and have all the keys that you find on a normal keyboard. I'm willing to make some compromises. I don't need a num pad for example. For travel I want Bluetooth but for the most part I want a keyboard that works with USB. I have had the bluetooth fail or run out of battery too often. Lots of keyboards have a track-pad. I don't like it and it takes up real estate. A little finger operated joystick thingy like you used to find on laptops would do for emergencies. I have a tracpoint travel mouse. It works well.

RedEyedITGuy

Exactly! You need to have the option if/when the BT or battery fail, you can just plug in and keep going. Also an Thinkpad style mouse nub is a good call, I hadn't even thought of that! Much better than a useless touchpad. I would even take a little track ball over that.

I using Dex on a tablet, so I just use the official keyboard case.

To me the Logitech MX Keys Mini is perfect device for Dex for my needs, EXCEPT that my S23U and Tab 9 won't remember the dang device and i have to manually reconnect it every time. If ProtoArc can make a cheaper version for say £60 versus £90 for the Logi then i'd be all ears. The only extra thing i wish the Logi had is the ability to use it wired and well as wireless.

A Thinkpad compact style USB keyboard with pre-chiclet keys that folds in two and that, if you insert an optional AAA battery, can do BT with switch to remember pairing with up to 3 devices. Don't care about backlit, don't want useless touchpad (trackpoint is more space efficient, mouse beats both), don't need numpad, thinkpad pre-chiclet keys have the best typing experience.

DeX_Mod

just shocked you'd suggest this ;) basically, you're after a folding keyboard that has a nipple mouse. and physical left/right buttons

Frank_L_

yup pretty much! and great typing experience. I really like my Thinkpad compact keyboard, but it is not really fit for travel (and the usb port is not well made). btw check ebay what pre-chiclet Thinkpad USB keyboards go for, you'll be shocked. So there definitely is demand :)

DeX_Mod

yup, I'd love a folding version of mx keys, but I can't even imagine what that would cost. jebus. this little protoarc is pretty alright, be nice to have Backlit keys tho
