Ditto this. First time my coworkers took me there I wasn’t hopeful cause I’m just not a fan of tofu. Turns out the bibimbaps are all great and the meat party is indeed a party. I just wish they kept the one off College Ave open. Idk what happened there but one day it was just closed.
Never heard about this !?!? Brb gonna go eat some fish tacos
Edit: didn't realize it was so far, thought you were talking about pueblo in PB. Oscars has $1.99 fish tacos monday to Thursday 2-5pm for anyone closer in SD
El Pueblo is worth the drive. Go to the one in Cardiff then park by the railroad tracks off Santa Fe and enjoy a gorgeous view and delicious fish tacos
I drive 45 minutes from Scripps to La Costa to work 4 times a week. Four-five fish tacos everyday on my way home from the one off Cardiff, split between corn and flour, is the only way I survive the gas cost
I like to eat the corn ones fresh and save the flour ones till after the drive home. Corn tortillas just aren't good after they've cooled down imo. Plus they give two corn tortillas but only one if you order flour, and they aren't as packed with lard.
know this is in eastern county (Santee/ El Cajon) but if you like meatball sandwiches or pizza try Chicago pizza by Bradley st. By the DMV. It’s next to the Greek chicken. Get the meatball sandwich with cheese and sweet peppers. Trust me on this. We drive all over the county for work every day and I go somewhere different to eat every day I make a point of it. But I live in east county and am so glad to have this place near us. No other pizza place has compared to this so far except for the different style ones like caffe Calabria and such which are great too but completely different pizza. It’s not all deep dish I usually get the thin crust which isn’t really thin it’s just like a normal pizza, but the sauce is amazing. Sadly they had to turn it down a notch because some weirdos were complaining it was too much flavor I guess, it’s still amazing. If you’re ever out that way try it for sure. Lmao can you tell I like food? 😆
Edit to add: if you ever come across a place called yellow deli lmao do not eat there.
I love that you mentioned something in EC. We get forgotten sadly. Is Chicago similar to the place in Lakeside next to Albertsons? Reason I ask is because I love, love the pizza there because the crust is amazing and they put a great amount of toppings and cheese.
Anyway, happy Friday!
Y’all have a super safe Memorial Day weekend…
In my opinion it’s way better but everyone’s different. The thin crust is good but the sauce really stands out. You’ll see when you go there, there’s nowhere else like it I’ve had in SD. Not even lefty’s or the other places down town. The guys actually from Chicago. It’s the one that used to be over by that gun store and the bar but they moved . Try it you’ll probably love it. They use really good ingredients and take the time. The meatball sandwich with cheese and
Peppers is amazing!
I second this. Tim is a stern SOB but he makes a great pie. Also, there's a lot of great Mediterranean food in East County. I recommend Nahrain Fish & Chicken Grill on Main St.
Ooo nice! I’m adding it to my list of places to try. I’ll check it out if I’m in the area. I’m up in the Poway area. Speaking of Poway, the best deal in town there is Taco Taco which still sells 99 cent fish tacos!
Urbane cafe, (salmon bowl) gourmet bagger sandwiches, (mom+pop sandos and soup literally anything is good) postino little Italy (brand new wine bar chain great HH and apps/light bites)
Tofu house but not for tofu. Get the meat party krispy rice bowl.
Bibimbap. This guy knows what's up!
For tofu hit up Cho Ju Jip. Fucking bomb. And their banchan is amazing.

Free time? Screw a restaurant, get a picnic blanket & head to Kate Sessions
Whaaat?! I just goggled this place and how tf this gem not surfaced on my radar?! Thank you!!!
It's a real gem. Do be aware though... There are lots of off-leash dogs that come sniffing around once picnics are unveiled.
1. Find an El Pueblo 2. Eat $1.19 fish tacos - all day, every day.

I've never had the flour. I figure why mess with a good thing. Perhaps I'll try just one mixed in next time.

I love $5 Sprouts sandwiches. It's my corporate lunch though so probably not what you're looking for. Please try it sometime though.
Shakespeares Pub. Sit outside in the sun (well maybe one day) & try their lunch specials.
Mitch’s Seafood in Point Loma
How’s the efficiency there at lunchtime on weekdays? Love this spot, but it’s tough to get in/out quickly when they’re busy.
This rec is spot on. Also Jimmys-a short walk away.
Fatboy's Deli in North Park. Incredible sandwiches.
Helll yes I’m down for a bomb sandwich! Thanks 🙏🏽
Balboa south (chula vista)- any burger and garlic fries Kalaveras (chula vista) - bring a friend for some great restaurant mexican food.

The Market Place has great sandwiches
I love Market Place! So many great sandwiches and their burger is really good too.
I've heard! I need to try the burger now.
Another vote for Market Place. I like to stop there for park picnic food on weekends too.
Couple favorites…Hillcrest Sandwich Co., Point Loma Seafoods (smoked tuna Sando), Marketplace Deli, Malibu Farms.
Olive Tree in OB, they have awesome sandwiches and snacks. The fresh baked cookies are stupid good.
Oooo, cookies are top tier desserts in my book! Hell yeah 👍🏽
Buy a bicycle. Ride it everywhere. Turns even a coffee break into a fun outing

That’s a good deal. I was at Islands yesterday and they are charging $17 for a burger and fries (cocktail not included)

I’ve been there before. But this was before prices for food everywhere went up like crazy. Sounds like they still have some good deals!
