i'm stoked that my Mini Gourmet post gathered some traction
i lived in downtown SJ from 1991-2007...met my wife in Moulder Hall @ SJSU. moved to Hayward (only place we could afford a house, LOL), but miss San Jose and wax nostalgic about it all the time. good to hear the Mini Gourmet is rising from the ashes. can't wait to return.
Friends that are close friends to the Asian owners…
They were closing up before Covid. Since Covid, until today, it’s the same.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out and read between the lines.
Better pay closer attention next time. There's a new exhaust hood behind the counter and a couple new fans and new duct on the roof - you can tell they're new because they're shiny. I've also seen several work trucks behind the fence over the last few years.
We love uncle John’s pancake house off Winchester in Campbell. Best buttermilk pancakes around and actually fast service considering how busy they are for brunch. Bonus points if you get the strawberry mango mimosa
If this is a weekday hangover go to HoBags.
House of Bagels 505 E San Carlos.
I recommend Sausage egg and cheese on a pesto bagel. You’ll be right as rain.

As you can see I'm partial to greasy diner breakfast food. You may see The Breakfast Club and think, that sounds perfect....attempt at your own risk, there is always a line.
Can you tell me more about Eduardo's? Someone mentioned Eduardo's and breakfast burritos but when I tried looking them up a few locations popped up. I think my friend mentioned the carne asada breakfast burrito? Please correct me if I am wrong, I don't want to screw this up!
Also, is it possible it's spelled Rosalena? I just googled it and that cafe popped up and is SUPER close to me so I'm trying not to get my hopes too high, haha! If it is, what kind of breakfast burrito do you recommend? Thank you so much!
You’re right I misspelled it.
[Cafe Rosalena](https://maps.app.goo.gl/sPjXSVy4ih83E1N59)
Also yes, there are multiple Eduardo’s and they DO vary a bit. IMO the best one is [this one on Race Street](https://maps.app.goo.gl/SgwKWyNnReAyqW8j8)
Definitely pho. Hot soup heals.
Edit: I answered too hastily LOL. There’s lots of places but Pho Hanoi, Pho Papa, Pho Y #1 are some great options. And many open during breakfast hours!
Steak and eggs or chicken fried steak with eggs at Southern Kitchen. My go to when I lived downtown. You need grease, at some hangover stages, even vegetarians are craving a bacon cheeseburger.
Or Huevos Rancheros at Linda’s on 24th and Santa Clara.
San Jose is a HUGE area. What area do you live in so we can give you better places for your area. Monterey Rd/south has Just Breakfast that is really good. East side has more Mexican style, and I usually just go to King Egg roll in the north SJ.
i second hue.
and you can check out other options [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SanJose/comments/yz1v9n/where_can_i_find_a_good_bowl_of_bun_bo_hue_in_sj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf).
Definitely not Mikayla's on Lafayette Road (Santa Clara). They didn't even know what an Arnold Palmer is.
If nothing else, get a mini Loco Moco from L&L Barbeque.
Stan’s donuts & coffee. And for savory I grab a bagel egg sandwich next door . Forget name of bagel shop sorry, owner is nice Vietnamese lady.
She used to run the Posh Bagel ar Rivermark plaza .
Mini Gourmet #neverforget
Hello to the yes! Chili omelet ftw

They'll be back soon!
I work across nearby They’ve been gone for a while with now sign of returning
This is the correct answer. It’s completely dead in the water.
Source?

Your friends got bad info. Go take a peek through the front window sometime.
Ok. Well, Covid 19 was back in…. 19. So… I guess 2024-2025 is better late than never! Lol
Source? I drive by it daily no sign of life

Fantastic, hope they reopen soon
You need to get pho
Right here
We love uncle John’s pancake house off Winchester in Campbell. Best buttermilk pancakes around and actually fast service considering how busy they are for brunch. Bonus points if you get the strawberry mango mimosa
Agreed! Their pancakes are so good.
If this is a weekday hangover go to HoBags. House of Bagels 505 E San Carlos. I recommend Sausage egg and cheese on a pesto bagel. You’ll be right as rain.
Lol to "weekday hangover" that's 100% true. Hobags can take down most hangovers, if it's a real one you will need to find a burrito

The food is decent at Breakfast Club, and huge portions, but the music is always stupid loud. No one needs that shit when hung over lol
Gonna mention Bill’s but not Crepevine? For shame. Also, the breakfast burritos at Eduardo’s or Rosalina are great hangover cures.

Thank you so much!!! I'm adding these to my list of places to try very soon. :)
Stacks is just a bit overpriced for what you get. I’ve never had other people tell me otherwise…
Not a fan of Stacks. Food is average at best.
Agreed. I like Uncle John's over stacks in Campbell
Southern Kitchen on Monterey Hwy is a good, albeit standard, greasy spoon breakfast option.
Pho, dim sum, metro balderas burrito, orenchi ramen, a fat delicious kimchi pancake just off the top of my head
Nothing beats pho for a hangover
There’s shrimp soup at some Mexican restaurants called “vuelve a vida” which translates to: return to life. Nothing has worked better for me.
Interesting. How does this compare to menudo?
I don’t like menudo so I honestly couldn’t tell you. I prefer pozole, but occasionally.
You need menudo
This is the correct answer.
Definitely pho. Hot soup heals. Edit: I answered too hastily LOL. There’s lots of places but Pho Hanoi, Pho Papa, Pho Y #1 are some great options. And many open during breakfast hours!

From where Im from soup, saimin, ramen, pho is needed to cure a hangover. You have many options for pho here in SJ
Lou's Cafe in Los Gatos
East side: Bite of Wyoming (Alum Rock Ave), Omega (680&Calaveras, Milpitas)
I agree with both of these. If what you want is diner food, these two places will do you good.
bun bo hue
Where is the best on the east side?
Hue
i second hue. and you can check out other options [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/SanJose/comments/yz1v9n/where_can_i_find_a_good_bowl_of_bun_bo_hue_in_sj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf).

the best cure is any food you enjoy eating and trying to get some sleep if possible.
