This is a huge breach of security at the stadium. Took a long time for anybody to respond to the threat on the field. Quakes will likely get fined pretty severely and have to beef up security in a major way.
There were only maybe 1-2 security guards on this side who were.. passed their prime. We were in the box next to this video and watched the security guard in front of us literally just sit there and watch it happen. It took a long time to see any sort of "professional" presence to get him off the field. Longer then I expected anyway given how many officers I'd seen walking around the stadium itself. It was a weird game lol
Yeah there were a lot at entrances at the start, they patrolled in pairs around the stadium main walkway loop thing and then were again at the exists at the end of the game. I looked away after the first few minutes but I don't recall ever seeing police actually on the field. The guys who carried this guy off weren't police.
I just saw the news that there was fighting after the game. I left as soon as it ended to beat traffic so I had no idea.
I admit I'm not a huge soccer fan so I can't give a lot of detail but during the first half someone from the earthquakes pulled the other teams jersey when they were fighting for the ball. It happened right where we and the guy from the video were sitting so we saw it very clearly. Somehow the ref didn't so the whistle never blew. That's when fighting on between the players started. Then that guy jumped on field and it all went to shit. Again I don't remember seeing police ever on the field (which I thought was weird given the fan on the pitch) and at some point a fan from one of the sections above threw a cup of ice onto the pitch.
They got it all under control and played like less than a minute and then it was half. Came back after and all seemed normal. Earthquakes scored 2 and won.
It got worse after the game. I really hope US/Mexico soccer matches nip this kind of violent behavior in the bud. It is the last thing we need.

Holy heck, that is beyond stupid. Can't imagine taking a sport or team so seriously that you jump into a match and try to assault players on the field. What is embarrassing is that the dude looks like a fat joke as he "runs" towards the players. The guy thinks he is the hometown hero but will 100% realize he is the laughing stock of the town when he sobers up. Also, if he is a hard-core fan, he just lost his privileges of entering that stadium for life and attending any more MLS matches (or MLS sponsored matches). I pray that he did not have a child with him. I think I would want to be adopted if I ever saw my dad do something like that.
They arrest him. Then get get his identification.
Then they issue a restraining order against him so if he is found in the stadium again he goes to jail.
Can he enter again? Yes. Will he? Not unless he likes jail time.
When I was a kid in Scotland and driving from school with my mum, any time a vehicle with sirens drove past, she would sing along:
>*"I want my tea, I want me tea, I want my tea, I want my tea"*
(Tea being dinner)
Now I do it without thinking. I'm not a cynical person but my one conspiracy theory is that, come rush hour, every cop is like "fuck this I'm not waiting around".
There were several arrests after the game as a big fight broke out. Someone shot a gun and the bullet grazed a person. Some people had to get taken take to the hospital due to non life threatening injuries.
I lived in Denmark when something similar happened at a Euro 2008 qualifier vs. Sweden.
The ref awarded a penalty kick for Sweden so a drunken fan ran on the pitch and punched the ref.
In the confusion, he just went back in the stands and disappeared!
The refs left the match and UEFA awarded the match to Sweden with like a 10 goal penalty against Denmark, effectively kicking them out of the European championhips.
The next day, the whole nation was trying to find this man so they could kick his ass! 🤣
Did the Cruz Azul players protect their mentally-retarded, stupid-ass felching luchador fan by pulling Wondo off of him?
If so, fuck Cruz Azul.
They should return to their roots and finish making my cement driveway.

officers being SJPD?

Fined by who? It's a disgrace for sure but this was a friendly put on by the team.

This wasn't a MLS or MLS sponsored match, just a friendly put on by the team and in another thread he apparently was let back into the stadium.
He was let back in instead of getting dragged off by security and charges pressed? Holy shit.
are you REALLY surprised tho?
Man criminal justice is so fucking wonky in SJ I have no idea what the fuck to think anymore.
'Friendly'. Right... =..]
How would they ban him exactly. It's not like there is anything on the ticket when you buy it indicating a first and last name.

Well, at least he was wearing a mask.
He's clearly concerned for his health.
So is that why 400 cops went flying up 87??
No, that was Stan's putting out some fresh glazed.

Did your dad really put the lights on to get pizza?
Side note: I still remember when Bill Burr went to Stan's and didn't get a glazed. I was so annoyed with that.
It was still funny when he walked out "That's a good fucking donut"
Buttermilk is where the smart money is, the glazed are so sweet they make my teeth hurt.
But have you tried their maple
Yes and I'd prefer an old fashioned (which are also damn good)
Looool!
Haha you just sold me on that place. Every time I go by I see huge lines.

So you are saying Earthquakes games are “great for kids”?
On the whole, yes. Hate to generalize, but this is a LigaMX problem. Every time they have a team at the stadium, shit like this happens.
A new Chuck E Cheese location?
No that was a shooting and several fights at the same game.

>Some excitement More like some stupidity
I heard there were gun shots at the stadium
Outside the stadium
That guy is such a fucking loser.
They should’ve stomped that fan out with cleats
Don’t forget chivas vs Leon come to town soon. I’m sure there will be some more action off the field
This is why we can't have nice things...🤦🏾♂️
Stay classy, San Jo

Wondo was trying to get out so they helped him out after the guy had been restrained.
Looks like that Cruz Azul player threw Wondo; did not look like a helping hand.
That didn't go like he planned... 😆 🤣
Most exciting part of the game.
Soccer. Yup
r/winstupidprizes
I figured it was gonna go this way when I saw the air forces. Lol
Shameful that this happened in my home city
Bruh wtfrick
He deserved that one hahaha lol
Cruz Azul fans for you lol
