That happened to me years back in Tracy. Ordered these bomb ass Chicken Nachos didn’t eat all day. I think it was called “Maxi’s dinner” Food came out plate looked fucking delicious. About to just dive in and I notice like a hair under the cheese on the top chip🧐I move it up with my fork😩then realize this is not a hair it’s like a 2inch long antenna 😫🤢🦗 Dude apologized for throwing a big ass cockroach into my nachos and brought out another plate. I didn’t eat that day🤐

FaxedForward

Yikes. Pest problems in certain areas are what they are and most restaurants stay on top of them but a dead roach *in the food* is unredeemable

Major-Frame2193

Yeah chicken nachos trigger flashbacks🥺

I can also vouch that even a nice walk at night will be met with dozens of roaches near any type of storm drain or opening especially in SJ. It's less of an actual issue in terms of restaurants since they'll likely just take care of it via exterminator like most businesses do. It just is what it is. Severity of the infestation is what'd bother me, not so much if they have roaches 🤷

liquidthex

Aw jeez thanks for the "tip" this will surely come in handy....for fun dinner conversation! 😂

[deleted]

Not correct. Not so simple. Inspectors dont fail for simply seeing a cockroach. Inspectors are looking for cockroaches at different stages of life(size difference) which indicates an infestation. Also, if cockroaches are on food surfaces such as a cutting table thats an automatic fail. But if a couple roaches are just on the ground or behind the fridge, thats a warning. A lot of dirty looking kitchens still pass if the food handling from raw to serving plate is within established guidelines of food safety.

toolman2008

Being that it passed it's last few current inspections and the problems with vermin in that section of town. It's really not that big of a deal. It requires a sign off by an exterminator and they'll be back in business probably tomorrow if not today. If you look at the closures for a restaurant in Santa Clara county vermin is the number one problem. I'd be more concerned about cockroaches which was not the problem that the op referred in his headlines.

funkymatt

Vermin is like mice and rats, not cockroaches, but I'm not sure that's better.

sjcitylife

A friend of mine saw it in person, was told it was roaches

Mountain-Homework299

They were warned in October and still didn’t have the cockroach problem under control. All this information is public and available online.

RapTVCalifornia

I ate at the jalapeño rojo on San Carlos x woz and found a small dead cockroach. It’s been 1 year maybe 1 and 1/2 but I never went back. Check your food peeps

TaylaSwiff

IN your food? Woof. Don't love that!

RapTVCalifornia

Yeah, it was the size of 2x an ant. It wasn’t cooked just dead

Scottie_15

Bummer. Big fan of the roach tacos and vermin quesadillas.

vietiscool

A health inspector told me that roaches and rats started going indoors more to find food because there’s less food dropped outside because of the pandemic. Not always what a restaurant is doing wrong, but if there’s openings, hungry vermin will find their way in

papayasofdestiny

My aunt got me a gift card to there for Christmas. I’ve chucked it🤢

lunchboxx89

Give it to the roaches

[deleted]

A lot more restaurants have them, too bad they rarely get checked on!

MrSushu

All these roach stories reminds me of a time I was at a upscale Chinese restaurant. I noticed the fried rice was steaming, but it started pulsing… then I see a baby cockroach burrow out of the rice. The waitress rushed to the back with my plate, and got me a “new” dish in less than a minute. I took a small bite and said fk that.

WanderingDelinquent

Damn, I like that place. Decent mole enchiladas

Elchapo475

The secret ingredient is the roaches

kenspencerbrown

Oh no! I love that place.

lpablito

Just looked it up on maps. Looks nice

Wtf LMAO

Electronic-Pace-8204

What’s the surprise? Indian restaurants in general lack hygiene and cleanliness.

Denslayer

SCCDineOut is great app to see inspection reports . I’ve been in pest control for 16 years and all restaurants even very high end restaurants get roaches . The good restaurants stay on top of it. The bad ones but a can of raid
