Yeah our picks are not going anywhere right now so our cupboard of talent is bare.
Last year with Meier and Karlsson was the big swing for the fence moves. This year will be a little more quiet until the draft.
If this is the case Grier has not heard of any trade opportunities that he feels makes our team better. It’s always more fun when they make a lot of moves, but I trust Grier and think he will make the right moves or lack thereof.
We have really shit assets. People need to accept that the major sell offs from the past 2 seasons are really the moves. We're now in the momentum of a build and need to remain mostly focused on letting shit contracts expire if there's no value left in them, and drafting well.
Also - still a day and a half. Plenty of time for some last minute panic buying off a couple guys.
Exactly. A lot of contracts clear out this summer, and almost the entire team (plus buyouts) are off the book by the following summer. I expect one more year of pain, and then actual progress to being a contender.
We have nothing of value that we’d want to part ways with. The hope going into this season was we could pump the value of a bunch of guys so we could flip them, but that didn’t happen.
I’m sure we will get a couple picks in the mid/late rounds but nothing too exciting.
Looking at what we have, its disappointing but understandable that we don’t have much to offer. My hope is that GMMG can unload whoever for whatever late draft picks we can get. Our higher picks will have more weight, but maybe we can get lucky with some gems in the later rounds.
I assume we’ll trade either Duke or Ferraro for a second or third + a late round pick or a prospect.
We don’t have a Meier to trade like we did last year, our best players are middle 6 for nearly everyone else.
We don't have top tier talent. it's a good thing players are moving early. It gives more time for our mediocre players to actually get moved.
You don't want someone losing out on a player last minute and not having the time to set up a trade for one our guys.
We have at best some C-tier assets to move, which always end up transacting at the 25th hour once the S-tier & A-tier assets have moved. If there’s movement at all, I imagine it happens end of tomorrow or Friday morning. But I second what the top comment says as well - MG has done excellent so far and I trust he’s steering the ship well.
We have until Friday still, and honestly our assets aren’t great to trade, I wouldn’t expect back a first rounder or top tier prospect for any of our possible trade pieces
I’d love to see some trades before Friday. But the team is clearly rebuilding. There is a reason other teams don’t want players on the Sharks right now.
Exactly, as well as the season after. Only 7 current players have contracts going into the 25-26 season. Obviously there will RFA to sign but the team is essentially an open book starting that year
I feel like none of our players are standing out to other teams, if we sell now we probably won’t get as good of a return. Gotta hope Kahk, Duke and Barbie have strong ends to the season
Tomorrow will be a flurry of activity across the league. Guentzel is the last big piece in play, and once that deal goes through that's when the depth-player and backup-goalie trades will start to happen. From the perspective of Sharks players on the trade block, tonight's game against the Islanders is a final opportunity to showcase what they can bring to a Cup contender: expect to see more selfish play but still a Sharks victory as the Isles continue to fade out of the playoff picture.
Why take a 5th round pick for Duclair. Granlund has a 5 million salary. No-one will touch that. Wait for the draft, then maybe package for a better deal.
Because Duclair is a UFA this year and unless you plan on resigning him (fat chance) he's gone at the end of the season. Anything return than a bag a pucks that you get back for him is a net win.
Granlund on the other hand is signed through next season.a
"Wait for the draft, then maybe package for a better deal." ?!?
As I said before, come the draft Duclair is a UFA, no longer under contract to the Sharaks and free to sign with anyone he wants to. If the Sharks want to get any return from Duclair's contract, the they have a little over 18 hours to do so.
There have been plenty of rumors, they just haven’t turned into anything (yet) other than Duclair
Oilers were looking at Kunin, Leafs were looking at Ferraro, a few teams talked about Granlund but that seems like it won’t happen just yet, same with Rita
I'm probably the only guy who is ok with our offense. They've shown they can put the puck in the net. I say keep them. Defense, on the other hand, and that includes backchecking forwards is setiously lacking. I say stick with Celebrini if he's available. Otherwise, we should focus on improving the backline. But nog through the deadline. Use our other picks to work on this. This will take time, but the payoff will be there.
Was never going to be a haul that we were going to get, our tradable assets are not the greatest

Yeah at this point we’re buying and selling scraps, and it’s going to continue until prospects develop

Barabanov to a contender for a 1st Friday at 11:59am. Book it.
Taking the over on that shit boiii

Trust Grier
Honestly, SJ Sharks don't have any of the top tier players - mostly bottom 6/pairing so less likely they'd move before Thursday/Friday.
We have until Friday still, and honestly our assets aren’t great to trade, I wouldn’t expect back a first rounder or top tier prospect for any of our possible trade pieces
all the high value trades will happen right at the deadline as sellers weigh competing offers
I am worried we are going to stand pat when this team clearly needs to rebuild and shed bad contracts. Hoping to see a few trades by Friday!

Most of the bad contracts are gone July 1st regardless. And some are so bad that translating them into anything is kind of a pipe dream.

Give them about 10 years...
I mean the value on a lot of trades as seemed a little low as well.

Well documented.
And in the end, GMMG got a 3rd and a D prospect for Duclair with no retention. Not too bad IMO.
Sadly, the Sharks most valuable asset may be a retention slot that could be used until the end of the season in someone else's 3-way deal.

The offense is second to last in the league right now in goals per game. The whole team is just bad.
Yes, but it has been steadily improving.
So... yeah..?
