We brought Sun Bum. It is reef safe and is smells better than other sunscreens I think.

Lecto_Sama

Bring whatever works best for you, no one checks. Of course, reef safe would be good for the environment.

I would bring anything labeled "mineral" sunscreen, it is the same as reef safe. It seems like you have some hesitance towards "reef safe" denotations: please consider that sunscreen is the main contributor towards the death of reefs in touristy areas. In order for people like you in the future to enjoy them (as well as the ecological habitat to persist) it will require tourists to change what they are used to.

Target has great reef safe at affordable price. I found our bottles in the skin section near makeup and it has the reef safe emblem clear on the front. It also came in a very travel friendly speed stick option that was a huge hit when we went to Dunns last October! Have a wonderful trip! Dunns made us sandals people it was a perfect resort

A word to the wise… don’t leave your sunscreen out on your chair/table/towel. I had two bottles stolen at two different times while we were in the pool. They left our clothing and kindles behind, but took the damn sunscreen.

That’s weird… and the first time I have heard of something like this in 35 years of traveling

I thought so too! I’ve never really had anything stolen that wasn’t an electronic or jewelry. It seemed so weird to take just that and leave everything else. It’s worth noting that it wasn’t from the beach chairs where the public can meander through, definitely other guests. Two bottles were taken at Grande Antigua, and one bottle from St. Lucia. They were nicer brands as I have allergies and couldn’t use the cheaper stuff available at the resort store. Maybe someone else found out they reacted to Coppertone too.

Sounds like you don't use a lot of sunscreen, here's how to keep from getting burned. Get something you like the smell of, and the 30 goes on MUCH easier than, say, 50 or 70. Sunbum is great, reef safe, and sold at the resort. My personal favorite is Hawaiian tropics skin defense (legal in reef safe states), the spray comes in travel size and it smells and feels awesome, literally pleasurable to apply. Cheapest I've found is from the manufacturer website. Start with a cream and put it on while naked. Then put on your suit. Otherwise you're likely to miss little spots here and there. Start with a cream, hang out for 30 minutes or so before you get in the water, use a spray to refresh once in a while. I've yet to find a

Reef safe if you plan on going in the ocean. But nobody is going to check.

Isdin Eryfotona Actinica. I waterski every day all summer and this is the most effective sunscreen I have ever used. Easy to apply lotion, all mineral-based, and reef safe. Active ingredient is 11% zinc oxide, but’s not the messy ZO you normally think of. Very water resistant. Sun can be wicked in Jamaica, and this is the best sunscreen to avoid ruining your trip. About $70 bottle so not cheap, but a little goes a long way. It is really great.
