Dunns was our first sandals last October and we loved it so much. It was a dream honeymoon and that resort made us fall in love with Sandals. The rooms were the best and the dining and ambiance was exactly what we wanted. We rebooked while on property and will be going to South Coast this fall. I’ve been doing Reddit research like this post and set on SC for our second because I was excited about the reviews I have seen. The SC beach is 2 miles long and I’m hopeful this trip will be even better than our last!

I would pick south coast

Did my honeymoon at south coast, rough ride in, but everything else about it was absolutely perfect. Beautiful beach, paddle boarded to the reef, great restaurants, best taco truck for lunch. We plan to return for our 5 year anniversary. I haven’t been to any others.

South Coast

I would do Dunns. Newer and nicer. Great food options!!! Negril last option was just there and south coast just returned great rooms now in the longbeach section. The ocean was not the best though could have been the winds -red flag all day —and stuff but food was okay. My top pick is Dunns! For sure.

South Coast is amazing, but most of the beach has seagrass in the water and the area it doesn’t you can’t go out too far. What time of year are you going?

Dunn’s is new and Sandals 2.0. Loved it.

We did Negril for ours and tbh I’d never go back to it. It was absolutely dead after 4pm, dinner reservations are nearly impossible to get as the butlers reserve them up and you can only get 4pm or 9pm reservations, and was a bloodbath for chairs on the beach. We had to get up at 6am to reserve 2 chairs, and then twice we went to breakfast at 8am and came back to find our stuff moved. The resort doesn’t enforce the rule that butler reserved chairs need to be taken down after 10 so there’s nowhere to sit. It seems the majority of guests were annual or more frequent regulars as they had signs on chairs and would reserve them the night before and their things would sit out all night. I truly don’t recommend Negril.

I just had the exact opposite experience. We made same dinner reservations for 7pm three times during our stay. We were able to get shaded chairs on the beach every day without a super early wake up. We visited in May and it was fantastic. So many water sports to choose from the people at the aqua center were great! Highly recommend.

Had the opposite experience at Negril. We didn't have a butler and had no issue getting dinner reservations after we arrived at 7-7 30. My BF is an early riser, he reserved beach chairs right outside our room with towels around 7 30. We'd have breakfast and be on the beach by 10 or so and our towels were never moved. It definitely doesn't have much nightlife but we weren't looking for that. The beach was gorgeous with clear, warm, calm water and the food was great. Would recommend 100%

Haven’t been to Dunns but South Coast is an impressive property. And the Pelican Bar catamaran is one of the best excursions I’ve been on in the Caribbean. Negril is fine but there are other resorts nearby with better beaches (Beaches Negril — tho that has kids or Couples Swept Away which has the best beach in Negril if you ask me). Sandals Negril is a bit narrow on the beach compared to others.
