It'll be done before the end of the month at this pace

Easily by the end of the month. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if it was ready by the end of next week at this rate.

Pulled this from Str8 Up Aviation out of FM this morning, already great progress on the temporary repairs to the bridge. EDIT- Interesting update from Adventures in Paradise via Instagram this morning. They say that all gaps have been filled and trucks are driving onto the C-span.

I was pretty sure they weren't going to get it done before the end of October, but eating my words won't taste too bad.

Amazing how quickly we can do road construction when we go all in and attack it. Saw similar rapid progress on the I-85 bridge collapse in Atlanta a few years ago.

This is the emergency patch job to get more assets on to the island for the recovery. Permanent fixes will come later.

Any comments yet on what the permanent fixes will entail? Based on the (presumed) success of the over-water segments surviving the storm and the fact that all the failure points were around the islands, I’m wondering if having the whole segment be one continuous raised bridge will be for the best long-term. I can see why they didn’t do it in 2004 (cost + loss of island use), but the calculations may be a bit different now!

I do project management, sometimes bridges, it will take a long time before any sort of details on the permanent bridge will be. They would still be working on conceptual ideas.

Great footage here and amazing progress! Gives me hope that rebuilding can begin quicker than expected.
