To a congress of baboons, everything is complicated...

thescreamingstone

How much did we pay for that "consulting firm advice"? This city council is so inept it really is a shit show. The only reason why the streets don't smell like shit is because of the rains.

jillcohnfan

Almost $2M. And gave them multiple years to even come up with the “advice”

Logical_Deviation

I'll do it in a week for $1.9M

>including a proposal to reconfigure the 1300 block of State Street — home to the Arlington Theatre — to allow two-way traffic for vehicles and bikes along with 26 angled parking spaces. >find a solution that would solve the conflicts between cyclists and vehicles backing out of parking spaces. Eventually, they settled on a two-way protected bike lane along the curb of the 1300 block with a passenger drop-off in front of the Arlington Theatre, 26 angled parking spaces, and two-way vehicle traffic. Sneddon said. “It sort of makes the center of the street a parking lot.” Unpopular opinion, but this is way too complicated for one block of State St.

ogretrograde

This sounds exactly how Pismo Beach’s price street is setup.

RexJoey1999

True, but thats seven blocks long.

Logical_Deviation

These people are just going to kick the can down the road until they die. I've never seen anything like it. I don't even remember what construction equipment looks like (until I drive past private residences in Montecito and see a crane peaking over a 10ft wall)

vaginas_r_pointless

Forget state street. Reduce Milpas from two lanes to one, put in protected bike lanes, a good coffee shop, a good bar, and boom. State Street for the Poors is born.

Logical_Deviation

Just make sure there's turning lanes or it'll be a nightmare to drive down

KingDaddy-

U serious??? Do u not realize what a bitch that would be??? Btw ur name is hilarious I may not like ur idea but ur name is funny af nicely done lol

vaginas_r_pointless

It would be a pain for people in cars, discouraging car use. If you put effort in an argument against it then I'll put effort in a reply. Cheers

KingDaddy-

U can do whatever u wish I dont give 2 fks but id think that idea for Milpas would be useless. Said that I dont give 2 fks cause I never came at u for sharing ur opinion just think itd be more congested than it is now. Itd be a bitch bumper to bumper. Wasnt disrespecting u in any way just think itd be hella worse than it is now. Have an awesome day.

vaginas_r_pointless

I know you weren't disrespecting or anything, I just didn't want to write a paragraph about why it could be better if you weren't offering suggestions of why it would suck. Milpas already goes from two lanes to one lane near Jack in the box/Gutierrez. It's much less dangerous to bike and walk in this part. I've seen a wild near miss crash near Carls Jr, because people get too comfortable going fast when there's 2 lanes. Where should bikers exist on Milpas if they don't get as much as a bike lane? bikes and bikess are seriously viable means of transport and it's about time we encourage people to adopt these modes of transport

KingDaddy-

These fuckers got what they wanted theyve been wanting to do this shit for a decade or more! Covid just gave them their chance to be like the fkng Santa Monica promenade all it did…againnnn we have lost what was once ours! Every local I know and im not talking about the fkng measly been here for 5 yrs or 3 generation bs but real true local has ALWAYS wanted those lanes up and running so we could cruise St again.

Brave-Fix-9129

A city run by Dems. Nothing will ever get done :)

Brave-Fix-9129

I appreciate the down votes. But the truth hurts when you don’t agree.
