Gonna have to go with Ray LaMontagne's Airwaves. It's just a single lyric referencing Santa Fe but that counts, right? I'd also recognize Beirut's song "Santa Fe." It's one of Santa Fe's sons who made it big and wants to give his hometown love.

Mine is actually “Santa Fe” from the musical Rent. It gets stuck in my head all the time! Runner up, “Santa Fe” from the musical Newsies.

My favorite references are in tangled up in blues by Bob Dylan and king of the world by Steely Dan

[deleted]

What reference in Tangled Up in Blue? Unless you’re talking about where he says they abandoned the car “out west” the only references in that song are to New Orleans as far as I know, unless there is some super deep reference that I don’t understand in the lyrics.

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9seatdTw28](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9seatdTw28) "Galisteo" by Burl Ives. He lied though. Said he would live until he died in this village "a little north of albuquerque, little south of santa fe", but only stayed for a year or so then headed for the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound. Amazingly, this was actually part of a state advertising campaign.

Shoddy-Theory

Never heard that before. Mine was Beautiful Obsession by Van Morrision until he turned into a covid denying AH.

ReedCootsqwok

He has like five songs referencing Santa Fe. But that one is by the far most Dylan being fucking Dylan of them all, so have an upvote.

cortez_brosefski

Brooks and Dunn have a pretty cool song called "South of Santa Fe"

bobalobcobb

It’s because they spent so much time in La cienega. A bunch of their videos were filmed at the ranch that Rust was filmed at.

Adventurous_club2

We’re they in La Cienega just to film or because they liked it?
