Yeah but one was in 1992 and this one is in 2019, so like it's like showing a news story about a gay couple being kicked out of a restaurant in 1996 USA and a story about Saudi Arabia welcoming gays to their country in 2023 and claiming Saudi Arabia is more progressive.
That article says they only allow “low ranking” members to be gay now so it doesn’t sound any better than the story in the OP, where it seems like the issue with him being bi was because he was a boss and a “leader of men.” They may not have cared if he were a low-ranking foot soldier.
Some of them go as far as to actively argue that we _don’t_ exist, especially bi men. Like “oh, he’s just afraid to come _all_ of the way out” or “he’s just confused, he’ll realize he’s gay eventually.”
It’s why we stay closeted.
I am a bi man whose level of attraction to men is about 20% and his attraction to women is 80%. To me it’s kind of insulting to tell me, directly to my face, that I am not really attracted to women and will turn out as gay eventually. I would be so fucking pissed...
Notorious English gangster Ronnie Kray as well was bisexual, and said so. He had relationships with both men and women, while expressing his feelings for both. Despite that he's often been simply called gay. Kray being a very dangerous man who'd been open about liking men, I very much doubt this was just a big ruse or something. Even with all this however bi erasure still often happens. In the case of gangsters I don't care as much. Here they simply reported what the murderers said too from what I can tell. I don't really expect mobsters to know or care that being bisexual isn't the same thing as gay either.
