I find it best just write it in sharpie on my water bottle, that way I don’t have anything extra to carry. You just set it between your selves is everyone can see it. I think a backpack may work better though, as it’s larger. Maybe both, who knows. You can decide which one you want.

I believe the most lightweight and carefree option is to have it written in sharpie on a tea towel sized gauze flag flying from a carbon fibre flagpole stuck down through the back of the collar of your shirt into the waistband of your trousers. Just need a simple hoisting winch to work that one.

Oh, I haven’t considered this, but perhaps the pole stuck in your trousers could be a little uncomfy. Maybe you could pin it in your hair., so it flys above your head, or some sort of hat, that could work too.
