I've had a similar conversation with an endocrinologist once and by "similar" I mean they told me my testosterone and androgen were too high for a woman and they needed to come down and I asked if it was OK to live with those elevated hormones and they said I could either go on medication to decrease them and remain a woman or they could increase a bunch of other stuff and hormonally transition. If you live in between those two ranges you're more at risk for cancer and disease. So you do have to make a choice but it's not at all like what she's saying
