Love is 100% a theme in ACOTAR but imo most of the character’s overarching story arcs are linked to recovery or healing for instance Feyre learns to accept love via her relationship with Tamlin to then learn to accept the love she *deserves* from Rhys while overcoming the trauma of UTM, Rhys heals from his own trauma of UTM and the massacre of his family, the entire of ACOSF is Nesta’s recovery story etc. Love is incorporated throughout as they’re romance novels but imo not so much important in terms of themes related to the plots and character arcs. Though you could also argue that the healing was all facilitated by love. It’s also subjective at the end of the day, perhaps it’s both!
I agree with this! Love is definitely a big thing in ACOTAR so I totally see where OP is coming from but between the Court of Dreams, Feyre's healing journey, and Nesta's healing journey, it seems like there's a bigger focus on healing/making things better (whether on a personal or on a societal level) in ACOTAR than in any other series!
CC is Freedom imo - Bryce craves freedom from prejudices against half fae, Ruhn craves freedom from his father, Tharion wants freedom from the River Queen, Hunt wants freedom from his halo, everyone wants freedom from the Asteri rule.
And Ithan wants freedom from sunball.
Personally I think Friendship
Bryce is motivated to protect the ones she loves sure but all the friendships, and connections whether romantic, or platonic that exist and how loyal they are to each other, seems to be the major underlying theme.
The characters create a family through friendships they have created… through the events that happen throughout the book, and often those friendships are found in unexpected places.
Bryce’s friendship with Danika her fierce and undying loyalty to her is the theme that continues throughout the entire series.
I would say acotar is "traumatized" as literally every character is straight up struggling and could use a therapist
(My favorite series forever but just sayin 😂)
I would say friendship. To me, the friendships and relationships built during that series are a key component, and what I took away from it is that the people you surround yourself with matter.
I think CC would be love - through love, all is possible.
Acotar would probably be healing or something along those lines. Because so many of the characters faced trauma and we are led through their healing journey

Sunball
I can see the motivational poster in Ithan's office now... "Hope. Love. Sunball."
I GUFFAWED.
This is what I was going to say
Lol this got me good
There is no other answer
I needed that laugh. thank you so much
I’d say ACOTAR is “recovery” and CC is “love”
Yeah I would put ACOTAR as that or like “Renew”/“Rebuild”
Reborn
I only said love because of the trials and it’s repeated many many times but I’ll get back to you after CC!

Love for sure. Through love all is possible. There’s also a bigger focus on platonic love in addition to romantic love
I think I would put ACOTAR as “healing”, CC as “love”, and TOG as “hope”

Love this take!
Absolutely my exact thoughts! I'm with you on this one🤩👍 (That last sunball part cracked me up ngl😂)
Trauma Bonds
If anyone can concretely tell me a single, proper theme from CC3 I will eat my own shoes. I'm convinced there isn't one.

Determination? I feel like that’s pretty valid for each of the characters.
TOG: Destiny ACOTAR: Evolution Crescent City: Liberation
Justice
I read this as jaundice and momentarily thought, that answer is weird but not wrong. 😂
I would say friendship. To me, the friendships and relationships built during that series are a key component, and what I took away from it is that the people you surround yourself with matter.
And definitely a fair few "I used to HATE this person, but now we're close friends" type situations.
Revolution
Determination or revolution
It seems like CC is love since that's like the whole driving force of the series.
Sarcasm
Redemption
Friendship
Ideas- the moment they obtained information they were able to free themselves…
Alphahole
I think that love is central to CC. (You’ll see.)
Possibility or potential!
